Not much to see in the box score. Pallante didn’t get killed, but the Marlins probably had a Sunday lineup similar to ours. As to Gorman, we already know he can crush minor league mistakes, and he’s probably been seeing some. We will have to see what happens after opening day. If they have decided JJ has a right side arm, then Gorman should have plenty of time to morph into a different guy.

The second lefty reliever race has several interesting candidates. We could use more options. Raquet and Watson could be interesting choices, but Watson needs more minor league seasoning. Maybe Hjerpe if he can stay healthy, and productive.

C27, don’t forget Packy! Or Thompson later on

I hope so , CFICT. I see a projection that Roycroft makes the team also, I like Moreno.

Bruhil, Naughton, and Raquet have all looked pretty good for 2nd lefty reliever. Bruhil probably has the inside track right now by being on the 40-man and having the most experience.

I like Raquet best among those on the 40 man roster after Romero. I think he can get a strikeout more often. Bruhil doesn’t impress me much. Thompson, Naughton, and Watson could be factors later in 2026.

Bruihl has a history of getting hit hard by righties. The other two are unproven enough it’s hard to trust them at all.

If it’s JoJo and righties in the pen that’s fine, but lets audition relievers who can get righties out.

If we need a second loogey who can’t get righties out, we always have Pallante’s “reliever fallback”.

I personally like Naughton the best but he’s not on the 40-man and we already need to make 1 40-man spot for Wetherholt. Plus, there’s at least some good reasons to make one for Velasquez due to the outfield situation. Nootbaar could possibly land on the 60-day IL to clear a space. But that counter wouldn’t start until the season starts which keeps Nootbaar out until at least end of May. We have no idea what his actual timetable is right now.

I trust JoJo, Svanson and O’Brien vs both handedness splits, and Stanek vs righties, then roll the dice. Svanson was better than JoJo vs lefties in 25′ but like Leahy has done, Matt needs to duplicate his breakout debut, put some more proven in his numbers. O’Brien too, more proven.

McG vs lefties concerns me. Pallante is the type of SP we want to upgrade by getting pushed out from below.

Hopefully there will be some pen churn and we see some guys.

It’s interesting that Baez is starting in left today. And Velazquez is still in the outfield mix. He does have plus power. But needs more contact.

I wonder how Hence has been used this spring in the minor league camp? As a reliever?

Also I wonder how bad is Herreras injury? Would it be possible for him to play first, and have Burleson play left some? That would keep the best bats in the lineup. Granted DH may be Herreras spot mostly.

You are a bit early. Hence was just reassigned on Saturday and on Sunday, the minor leaguers were off.

Since it is Herrera’s knee, which is needed in any role, it probably needs recovery time.

Can’t find my post, but I did not include Leahy in the starting 5. So Liberatore, May, Fitts, Leahy and AA McGreevy, barring injuries should be our 5 guys. Pallante may be in the bullpen, or even optioned out. He has had a good spring so far.

I think Packy has a decent chance of making the team.

    So does Velasquez.

Be interesting to see if Chase Davis can kind of replicate what Josh Baez did last year in the minors with the new emphasis on player development….Davis has had a pretty good spring in limited action in the main spring games.

Baez is having a nice spring. Hopefully it will give him confidence to go to Memphis and perform well enough to get back to the show this year. Wetherholt looks as advertised, as well. Davis needs to have a good year, he has all the tools but just has been too much of a slappy singles hitter with too much patience outside of a couple hot streaks. He’s got to be aggressive, knowing he won’t get unlimited chances to impress.

Herrera’s knee issue should absolutely preclude him from any more catching. Period.

I hope this is the last we hear about him catching.

Blaze Jordan is having a hard time getting on track since he came over. I’m surprised they still have him in ML camp. He needs to face easier pitching for now.

Travel team duties for Victor. Good opportunity at leadoff and for him to stand out among our minor leaguers.
