Donaldson’s contract runs out this year, but since he has another year of arbitration before free agency, he would not be a traditional rental.
John Mozeliak says the #STLCards are unlikely to be in the market for a rental, but adds they always have to keep an open mind to things.

Those are two other good potential usability enhancements that I will look into when the smoke clears.
Just to make sure I get it, though, do you mean separators between comments within a thread like this one?
No update. It is on the list, but frankly through the holiday weekend, my focus has been on helping those who have serious problems such as log on and password issues that are keeping them from getting on the site at all. Hope you understand I have to set priorities during a very busy time. Thanks.

Thanks for the clarification. Usually the best athletes on a HS team play the most premium positions. The Cards announced Williams as a third baseman and that is what matters. But who knows? Maybe he will pull a DeJong later on and become a pro shortstop!

Please explain. Did someone not list Williams as a third baseman?
Morosi offers more details.

I don’t have any reading on what the four would be asking to sign. I am sure the Cards do, but they aren’t going to share that info.
I agree about Carpenter. Either Garcia or Gyorko would be better at second. Why not just put Carpenter back at third instead of having more players not at their optimal positions?
You are welcome, Sooner, and welcome to all!
Gyorko had cramping in one of his legs last night so is getting a day off. Voit placed in cleanup spot is telling indication of limited roster options.
Times change. Last season when Diaz was hitting .400 for over a month, he was kept in the #8 spot as the manager did not want to put pressure on the first-time callup. Now, with the Hollidays and Mosses gone and Carpenter uncomfortable there, mid-order choices are limited.
#STLCards vs. Miami (7/4):
Carpenter 2B
Pham CF
Piscotty RF
Voit 1B
Molina C
Grichuk LF
DeJong SS
Garcia 3B

14NyquisT, I started a thread called “Affiliate observations” like you had on the old board, which is the ideal place for these discussions. It is on the front page partway down. Prefer to keep this thread specifically about the Roster Matrix. Thanks.
I want to draw your attention to this paragraph I included in the following article.
In what may at first blush appear to be a minor point, a well-placed source told me that Rivera’s signing bonus was $300,000, rather than the $350,000 reported by another media member. If so, then the Cardinals have $86,700 of additional cap money that they could use to try to lure one of the final four unsigned draftees to turn professional with a total offer of up to $211,700. The signing deadline is this coming Friday, July 7.
