Wow, Contreras looked real bad on that third strike. He doesn’t get fooled like that too often.
July 6, 2026 at 7:47 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #88 thread – Monday, July 6 vs. Milwaukee Brewers #312146During the ‘90s the Rockies sold out a lot. I went to the first home game ever in ‘93, the game where Eric Young lead off the bottom of the first with a home run, and there were over 80,000 in attendance. That was at the old Mile High Stadium where the Broncos played.
July 6, 2026 at 7:41 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #88 thread – Monday, July 6 vs. Milwaukee Brewers #312144They are a bit like the Cardinals this year in that they have a fun team to watch. A bunch of young scrappers who hustle. And the ballpark
area is a fun place to be for the young folks. This area has always been a big sports center. If there is a competitive team the people
will come out.July 6, 2026 at 7:18 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #88 thread – Monday, July 6 vs. Milwaukee Brewers #312138Looking at the stands on these broadcasts and working a lot of Rockies games, I got to thinking “It seems the Rockies draw better than the Cardinals.” I looked it up and they are drawing better, but it’s close.
The Rox are averaging 28.4K per game and the Redbirds 28.1K.

The fan voting is part production and part popularity. It’s great to get the fans involved but you have the popularity part to deal with. There was that year back in the ‘50s when the NL team was 7 Reds and Stan I think. But management stepped in and overruled most of those elected.
July 6, 2026 at 6:01 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #88 thread – Monday, July 6 vs. Milwaukee Brewers #312132“LOL. What work load?”
I guess these days if you pitch a complete game then you are considered having a heavier-than-normal workload.
Brebbia looked real good in his first outing, but then not so much. Man, too bad about Helsley. He looked like a guy we should probably move on from at the end of his time as a Redbird.
July 5, 2026 at 11:54 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #87 thread – Sunday, July 5 at Chicago Cubs #312006I will be scoreboard watching while working the Rox-Giants game.
Din-din is in the crockpot. The Lovely Lady Bike put together the classic roast beef, potatoes, carrots combo. We have a lot of veggies and brought home fruit salad from yesterday’s festivities so I am sure those will be available to round things out.
It’s a hot one here, with mid 90s before we are done. Given that and the fact that I am working the game I will be ready to scarf down din-din and relax this evening, thus a cold, frosty one will likely taste real good as the beverage.
Sometimes those Peacock games are on NBC, so check that Rats. If not, dial in John and Ricky on KMOX and kick back like the old days. Or if you have a few tasks that need attended to, listening to the game while getting stuff done is a great win-win.

Great to see Junior get his first of what is hopefully many ASG appearances!
Yeah, the two ex-Cards Sonny and Willson are tearing it up. Sonny at 10-1 with a 2.61 ERA for a sub-.500 team. Willson with 19 jacks and already has accumulated 3.5 bWAR. Add those two back to our club and we might be right there with the Crew. But Contreras would put Burleson in left field, which early on might have also been a plus as his bat would have helped a lot.
And I am not sure how much the Monster is helping him. Sonny though – man, he would be a nice presence.
July 5, 2026 at 8:26 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #86 thread – Saturday, July 4 at Chicago Cubs #312001Great movie! Durante literally kicks the bucket as he utters his last words.
Did not see the game but watched the condensed versions this morning. That fog looked really intense for awhile. You could read the players lips saying, “We can’t see.”
But in the end we saw a shutout. Can we bring the brooms today? Tough to do, but it’s been done.
July 4, 2026 at 5:14 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #86 thread – Saturday, July 4 at Chicago Cubs #311881We just arrived at the pool party. Din-din is ribeye steaks, potato salad, and we brought a fresh made orzo salad, with both soft drinks and adult beverages. I am going to stick to the soft stuff tonight.
There will be other items and desserts but not everyone is here yet. Will follow the game on my phone.
July 4, 2026 at 7:48 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #85 thread – Friday, July 3 at Chicago Cubs #311838That is some stat about the +\- 15 run differential. 132 years since it last happened, and a first in the so called modern era (1901 to present). Now that is a true rarity.
July 4, 2026 at 7:45 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #85 thread – Friday, July 3 at Chicago Cubs #311837Great win alright, but it not counts as one. The offense has hit double figures twice in a row. Will be interesting to see if this uptick in offense continues, not double figures every game but a more consistent run production.
On the philosophical side, yep we are only here for a short while. My philosophy is to live such that the world is a little bit better place for you having been in it.
July 3, 2026 at 5:43 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #85 thread – Friday, July 3 at Chicago Cubs #311807This game is down right offensive, for both clubs!!
Oops, see I was on the wrong thread with those last few. Man, having a tough Friday on the postings! 🙃

July 3, 2026 at 5:33 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #85 thread – Friday, July 3 at Chicago Cubs #311801Sheesh – whenever I am at the gym and hit “submit”, nothing happens. So I wait to make sure and hit “submit” again. From now on I will only hit it once and if it does not update so be it.
Sorry gang.
July 3, 2026 at 5:28 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #85 thread – Friday, July 3 at Chicago Cubs #311799At the gym and checking in. 16-0! Holy cow! Wish we could store some of those up for the next two. You always wonder if the series will be a “1960 World Series” affair where we lose the next two 4-3 and 2-0.
Perish the thought!

Alright, hoping this lead is safe, 11-0 now, and gonna hit the gym for a workout before the big weekend.
Burly a big hit off the lefty after three straight BBs. 8-0 Redbirds.
