Pretty cool. Cubs first team since 1894 to win a game by 15 plus then lose the next by 15 plus. Obviously its not easy to do. Good for them. I dont think they were having as much fun in this game as they had in the last one.
Although I didn’t bother to watch it, I just saw a post-game presser clip entitled “Counsell discusses Cub’s 17-1 loss.” Seeing that made me wish guys like TLR, Lasorda, Pinella, Martin, etc. were still around to respond to the inane questions put forth by the media after games similar to today’s Cardinal/Cub’s game. Many of you may have seen and heard Lasorda’s reaction when a scribe asked him what he thought of Kingman’s performance after King Kong had ripped 3 HR’s and collected 8 RBI’s as the Cubs beat the Dodgers at Wrigley in ’78…Haha! I miss Tommy.
Although the times certainly had it’s difficulties, the 70’s and 80’s, from it’s music, to it’s sports, to it’s beautiful innocence, were truly special. We all are merely temporary tenants, occupying time and space, only to one day give way to others…….and then in relatively short order to be forgotten forever……so carpe diem.
Just visiting this wonderful world on the way to the next stop in the eternal order of things, Pugs, while trying to be a gracious guest until it’s time move on.
Sorry TD……that was the Wild Turkey talking in my last post there. Lambasting our arch rivals by 16 runs in their park is always good reason to celebrate with a tall glass of the Wild Gobbler.

Always good to beat the ScRubs. Even better to humiliate them.
The Cubs are the second team in MLB history to win one game by 15+ runs but then lose their next game by 15+ runs.
The other was the Boston Beaneaters from September 10-11, 1894 – a 25-8 win followed by a 17-2 loss, both in Chicago against the Colts (the modern-day Cubs).

Great win alright, but it not counts as one. The offense has hit double figures twice in a row. Will be interesting to see if this uptick in offense continues, not double figures every game but a more consistent run production.
On the philosophical side, yep we are only here for a short while. My philosophy is to live such that the world is a little bit better place for you having been in it.
That is some stat about the +\- 15 run differential. 132 years since it last happened, and a first in the so called modern era (1901 to present). Now that is a true rarity.
