1:30 p.m.
LHP Matthew Liberatore (4-5, 5.33) vs. RHP Javier Assad (6-1, 4.53)
Peacock // KMOXJuly 3, 2026 at 5:51 pm #311809Peacock?
So I assume I won’t be able to view this one then?
I’d rather it was Peapicker.
July 5, 2026 at 11:54 am #312006I will be scoreboard watching while working the Rox-Giants game.
Din-din is in the crockpot. The Lovely Lady Bike put together the classic roast beef, potatoes, carrots combo. We have a lot of veggies and brought home fruit salad from yesterday’s festivities so I am sure those will be available to round things out.
It’s a hot one here, with mid 90s before we are done. Given that and the fact that I am working the game I will be ready to scarf down din-din and relax this evening, thus a cold, frosty one will likely taste real good as the beverage.
Sometimes those Peacock games are on NBC, so check that Rats. If not, dial in John and Ricky on KMOX and kick back like the old days. Or if you have a few tasks that need attended to, listening to the game while getting stuff done is a great win-win.

July 5, 2026 at 11:55 am #312007TV or not, this one looks to be clear of any atmospheric difficulties. Should have no problem getting this one in today.
And since EVERY game today is on Peacock I will not be able to view any of them. Might have to throw in an episode of Barnaby Jones this afternoon.
And din-din on this fine Sunday will once again be a ribeye steak on the grill, a few jumbo crinkle cut french fries, an ice cold slushy Mt. Dew, a piece of apple pie and a bowl of Turkey Hill Vanilla Bean ice cream.

July 5, 2026 at 12:53 pm #312011Every single game today on Peacock? I guess they don’t like people actually watching the games. I hope they have a record low baseball viewership today.
July 5, 2026 at 1:05 pm #312012Yet another game stolen from customers who buy yearly subscriptions to Cardinals TV. Thanks a whole lot for that Mr. Manfred, your selling-out of customer loyalty is disgusting, but I’m sure you’ll get over it while you and your marketing people who cut this deal are relaxing at a Jamaican beach resort this winter off your bonuses.
I can assure you I will NEVER buy Peacock or Apple +, or anybody else I find out who has virtually stolen a paid-for game from me. I wouldn’t even take the services for free at this point just because. This time, the Cub fans are no better off then we are, they apparently don’t get to watch it on TV either. I checked the Cub’s Marquis Network on DirecTV–no go. We have a Champaign IL CBS TV station who normally carries the Cards-Cubs games because we’re right smack in the middle of team loyalties in this region. No go.
Looks like we’re back to the 1972 method again. Pocket Panasonic, here we come…
July 5, 2026 at 1:11 pm #312013Nice to have dirt cheap MLB audio for KMOX

DH Bryan Torres LJuly 5, 2026 at 2:57 pm #312024I’ve come to find out that I get this game as a part of my cable TV package, but by the time I jump through the countless number of flaming hoops to get it up and running, it’s not hardly worth the pain in the backside. In addition to that, it’s difficult to back it up to a specific portion of the game to see a replay. In other words…Lousy.
July 5, 2026 at 3:01 pm #312025The Blazer can’t expect to stay in the lineup with an OPS+ 79. Especially with unsteady defense at times. Fermin is sporting an OPS+ 102 which looks a lot better than 79, especially since he also has a low strike out rate.
I think opponents figured out Jordan won’t take a walk and are letting him get himself out.
July 5, 2026 at 3:06 pm #312026He seems to have calmed down and settled in, but that 1st inning was typical Liberatore. Crowbar gets lucky on a weak little nubber to reach base and then steals 2B, at which point Liberatore enters into a state of hysteria. Then, almost as if on cue, he allows the RBI double to Bregman followed by a BB and two HBP’s before he works out of the inning down 2-0.

July 5, 2026 at 3:12 pm #312028Haha…They didn’t bother to let him get himself out that time…3 run TATER as JW gives the Cardinals the 3-2 lead!
July 5, 2026 at 3:16 pm #312029On the SBs, I wonder if there is more chance of the throw going into center field than getting the runner out. Given that Herrera never gets the runner, it seems like a winning percentage move for the opponent.
July 5, 2026 at 3:30 pm #312030Another perfect example of how Liberatore enters into a total state of extreme hysteria as soon as he’s staked to a lead. It’s over the top with this guy.
July 5, 2026 at 3:31 pm #312031Checking in on the box score, I am sure 1TD is ecstatic that he is yet again right that Liberatore is allergic to keeping a lead.
Mautz only pitched 2 innings today and I assume it was intentional to save his arm. I’m curious if next time it would be Liberatore if Mautz or Dobbins are pitching in that spot.
July 5, 2026 at 3:38 pm #312032Yeah, he’s so-so when he’s working while trailing by a couple of runs, Albert. But now we see that he’s not the only problem today as the Cardinals have chosen to feature the daisy and butterfly patterned oven mitts…6-3 Cubs.

July 5, 2026 at 3:44 pm #312034I hope Liberatore was keeping a real close eye on Pomeranz as the lefty enters the game and sets down the Cardinals in order after inheriting a lead.
July 5, 2026 at 3:57 pm #312035The broom job at Wrigley would have been real nice, but if the Redbirds can’t find a way to pull this one from the fire, I’d say that taking 4 out of 6 on this road trip to ATL and CHI is not too shabby. In any case, no lead is ever safe and the Cardinals still have 6 outs in their pocket.
July 5, 2026 at 4:24 pm #312036I didn’t get to see the game today even though the house and dog im watching had peacock. Too much stuff to do with a Holiday on a Saturday.
Eh we got the series again. Content with that.
July 5, 2026 at 4:25 pm #312037Fermin went 0fer and made a costly error, so maybe Ollie pivots back to the Blazer.
Maybe Mo would want to acquire Liberatore again. We wouldn’t even require a future All Star in return.
July 5, 2026 at 5:08 pm #312040Fermin is still learning 3B. We really don’t know if he’s a third baseman, or not. I, for one, am willingly to find out.
July 5, 2026 at 6:31 pm #312045Fermin is a clear example of a jack of all but master of none. I don’t think he’s great in the OF either but Oli likes him on the roster due to his flexibility and right handed bat. Blaze I feel would be back in AAA if it wasn’t for Gorman sucking down in Memphis. So I don’t think we can really win at 3rd. The defense was solid with Gorman. Blaze hasn’t had much run full time in the minors and Fermin is all over the diamond. So I expect some issues on defense.
July 5, 2026 at 7:10 pm #312050The two oven mitts undoubtedly hurt in the home half of the 6th, but I can’t think of anything worse than immediately donating a BB to Kelly to lead off the inning after the entire momentum of the baseball game had shifted as a result of a 3 run HR to wipe out a 2 run deficit and take a 3-2 lead in the visitor half. To open the bottom half he started Kelly off by nibbling with 3 consecutive off speed pitches to fall way behind in the count at 3-0. I’d rather he’d have placed the baseball on to Waveland for a game tying tater than to place baserunners aboard. At any rate, at least the team didn’t quit. Maybe they can reel off 5 consecutive W’s against the Brewers in StL and sweep those guys…

July 5, 2026 at 8:43 pm #312053I wonder what happened to game #88?
July 5, 2026 at 8:51 pm #312054Walker’s 67 RBI’s now place him in a tie with Alvarez for the Big League lead in that hitting category. Many, including myself have been expecting him to taper off, but the 24 yr. old RF’er continues to rip the baseball. Burleson’s tied for 2nd place in the NL with 63 RBI’s. Those two young players have been an effective left/right punch thus far this season.
