Looking at the stands on these broadcasts and working a lot of Rockies games, I got to thinking “It seems the Rockies draw better than the Cardinals.” I looked it up and they are drawing better, but it’s close.

The Rox are averaging 28.4K per game and the Redbirds 28.1K.

It’s astounding that, buried at 22 games off the pace in the NLW, that they’re able to generate that sort of a gate, Bikemike.

When I think back to the capacity crowds the Rockies were able to draw in the first years of their existence, I don’t know why I’m surprised that they’re out drawing the Cardinals this season. I just looked it up and they amassed over 4 million clicks during their ’93 inaugural season and for 8 consecutive seasons after wards, well over 3 million a year. They really like the game of baseball in the state of Colorado.

How in the heck does a baserunner even come close to getting picked off of 3B?

They are a bit like the Cardinals this year in that they have a fun team to watch. A bunch of young scrappers who hustle. And the ballpark
area is a fun place to be for the young folks.

This area has always been a big sports center. If there is a competitive team the people
    will come out.

Happy they overturned the call, but Velazquez should have never strayed that far off.

During the ‘90s the Rockies sold out a lot. I went to the first home game ever in ‘93, the game where Eric Young lead off the bottom of the first with a home run, and there were over 80,000 in attendance. That was at the old Mile High Stadium where the Broncos played.

Wow, Contreras looked real bad on that third strike. He doesn’t get fooled like that too often.

If there’s any truth to the claim that the plan is take the baseball away from May at or near 65 pitches, he’s on the cusp of not performing enough work to receive a decision one way or the other. He’s been very effective to this point so, unless he stumbles into trouble, I think it would be silly walk out and get him. The Cardinals would do well to place this baseball game into the W column so, I say let him work and do his job.

Yeah, I clearly remember those NFL size crowds, Bikemike. Looked like the Broncos were playing the Raiders.

    Indeed it did.

Good point on May. Looks like his pitches have a lot of movement. Might want to take advantage of that and stretch him to, dare I say, 80 pitches??

He’s at 59 pitches so, does he begin the 5th in the expectation that he can set down the side on 6 pitches…Haha! I’m curious to see what happens.

In the days of yore, if a pitcher was working this sort of a turn and his manager walked out to the mound in an attempt to take the baseball away from him, there was a decent chance that a fist fight would break out.

Uh oh…He’s now over 70 pitches with that K. And I have to say that the fastball that he got him with looked to have the sort of velocity that’s reserved for the proverbial Linda Rondstadt pitch…

May getting a chance to get through the inning. He’s showing an attitude out there.

A weak flare base hit to RF and a seeing eye GB. Don’t go all Liberatore on us, Dustin.

It’s too bad he couldn’t record the final out of the 5th to place himself in line for the W, but Bruihl does the job to preserve the 2-0 lead to take care of matters of more importance.

I like the sac-bunt. Push this lead-off double across and stretch this lead.

Nice…3-0 with another baserunner aboard. I’d try a little running here.

Bruihl got injured on that fielding attempt. We are down to one lefty in the pen if he goes on the shelf. That is trouble season.

Bullpen about to cough up the lead.

Brewers now trail 3-2 and have 2nd and 3rd with nobody out.

Bullpen blowing it. Fernandez first and the Stanek. I’m tired of seeing Stanek and am excited for for him to be traded so I no longer have to see him pitching for the Cardinals

And just like that it’s a 4-3 Milwaukee lead.

If they’d have limited May to 65 pitches, we’d have been okay…

Only trailing by a run, but I’m not real confident that run won’t procreate.
