So nobody that pitched in Montgomery’s spot won a game after he left, I doubt that. Let’s say Lynn and Gibson are a year older so regress by some ampunt which is likely. Goldy continues to slide a little, maybe even arenado. Maybe our hitting doesn’t improve. And the other pitchers we have all miss significant game time due to injury. Not sure what all that subtracts to but maybe it’s all a wash and we finish with 71 wins. At least at the start of he season we will be tied for first. If by some miracle we get the Japanese pitcher or gray, maybe 10 more wins . Get both them we are talking

Well Mo has come on the record to say the Cardinals arent done yet. Will have to wait and see what that means.

I don’t live in st Louis but I visit when I can. It has a lot to do there. The zoo is awesome, the area around the arch is great. Grants farm. I could go on. Sure it has its issues but it’s great overall

Gibson has dealt with a lot of injuries from research. Maybe not extensive but they do have cause n effect regardless. So I’m not sure how many innings he might eat up.

I think we get worse since more than likely those guys will regress

We aren’t finishing anywhere near 500 with this. In fact 60 wins may be a high projection.

Another old guy, what the heck. We are acquiring a bunch of backend starters. Yea Mo doing wonders so far.

Bob Reeds points about his numbers declining should worry all. When things start declining, they go fast. Kudos to him though for getting 10 million plus I guess a team option for 2025. Maybe it will incentivize him, though I’m not sure the dollar amount for second year

Well bccran, I agree with what you said if he’s slotted correctly. I’m not sure he makes us better but he doesn’t make us worse.

Well Brian you are making too much sense. This does seem just like business as usual. I’m going to be optimistic for now and hope that maybe they are expecting injury problems for those two and/or others. I’ll say this if their expecting him to be a number 2 or 1, we will finish this coming season just like we did the last if not worse.

That’s if the Cardinals aren’t doing their usual praying thing and hoping Lynn fills that number 1 or 2 spot

The last time I saw Lynn pitch was in this past post season. He didn’t look all that good.

If he’s being counted on to be a front of the rotation pitcher then it’s just a joke move. As a back end guy, he could eat up some innings and make some good starts if healthy. He is 36 years old.

Well the Cardinals have went out and made the big move. They got lance Lynn……. On the serious side I don’t mind it. He can still give you some quality innings and ten million isn’t terrible. We will see if this is the best we get

I agree that trades is more than likely where they try to get better but who do they have that people would be willing to give up to get better pitching. I don’t see a lot in the minors. Anyone you could name off the roster that would get us something that matters would be criticized by some then and later if that player broke out. If you think you got the the non pitching roster to get the job done, you almost have to go after guys in free agency. Trading one or two of those guys suddenly means you may not have that non pitching roster to compete. You arent going to get a really good pitcher just players that have underperformed to this point whether it be injuries or anything else.

Well if we get Montgomery and that’s basically it outside of hopes n prayers, we are just where we were last year and we saw how that went.

I think the deal for nola was far more than anyone else would pay. I think the Phillies paid him largely for the good he’s already done them. Anybody else wouldn’t do that cause he hasnt done anything for them. Personally I’m not big on snell because of health. That’s the only thing. Gray would be great and the Japanese guy would be great but I think he will get more from someone else than the Cardinals will be willing to go.

Carlson may not be a whiff but he isn’t much more than accidental bunt single when you consider how highly he was touted. When he was healthy I didn’t see what all the fuss was about. Eye test says he’s average at best on his best days and he hasnt had many of those. People talk about all the players we let go that did well as reasons we are down I would argue that a lot of it has to do with hanging onto some players too long whether due to owing them a bunch of money or the Cardinals and some fans wrongly perceived value of them.
