Roberts should be fired tonight. Takes vesia out of the game after two batters to bring in scott who gives up a leadoff homer in the 6th. Where is the wisdom in that
Roberts brings in phillips, the worst possible pitcher he could have brought in and he you could tell couldnt handle the pressure and walked the bases loaded. You could bring in people from the stands that could pitch better than him. Then bring is vesia and he promptly walks the tying run home. Vesia should have been brought in first. Just terrible managing
Roberts just never ceases to amaze me at how unqualified as a manager he is. Glasnow gives up a 1 out walk with hardly nothing close in the 5th and he leaves him in to not only give up the stolen base but then gives up the run scoring hit. Come on, something should be going off in his head that this is a win or its done game.
Well doesnt look like anything changed. Brewers pitcher even walked 2 batters just to tickle the beast before getting smith to weakly hit into a inning ending double play. You would think smith would have lots more fire being he just was gifted a new child by his wife.
Well we have pinball baseball, ball hits off dodgers third basemans glove richochets to shorstop onto first for the out.
Interesting game. Will we get from the dodgers what we have gotten or will we get more. Even if they manage to win,does it matter. Would it just delay the inevitable. I will say this, the only way i see the dodgers making even a competitive comeback is if ohtani goes 5 for 6 tonight, hits 2 homeruns and goes for the cycle. An on fire ohtani would light a fire under his teamates and might put a little concern into the brewers. When ohtani is on, the pitchers stuff doesnt really matter.
Didnt get to watch cleveland tampa game, though see cleveland won. I expect this series to go 7 but you never know. I think the rays are the better team but cleveland seems to have all the energy with that comeback series win. I do think the brewers are the best team overall but best team doesnt always win
Well brewers win 6-2. I think roberts did a lot of bad managing to lose this game. The brewers did some good things but def benefitted by roberts just waiting for his players to hit the big shots instead of making stuff happen. Brewwrs are the better team though but it def looks ugly on the dodgers side.
The problem with what major league wants is that teams that choose not to spend dont really deserve to win. You can be smart and spend money. Lets not reward teams that underpay their employees.
Well roberts screwed up, left snell in too long. You could say he should have took him out after 6 but def should have took him out after letting the leadoff guy get on, not sure if it was walk or hit. Doesnt really matter. So he precedes to give up back to back home runs. Terrible managing.
Well the brewers manager finally screwed up. Shouldnt have left uribe in there to walk the bases loaded plus didnt get a right hander up to throw til it was too late. It was obvious uribe didnt have it after the first two batters, muncy got himself out by trying to kill the ball. So roberts is off the hook right now because the other manager being stupid.
Hes paying them to win, in this game they may not definitely but possibly have 2-1 lead if he had bunted edman twice. It will be funny in a way if this game ends 1-0. They can ask the dodger manager why he didnt do his job and manage his team when they needed him too. You dont need a manager if you arent going to do anything but swing for the fences.
This last at bat for the dodgers just shows why bunting is very important. Dodgers get a lead off hit with 8th batter, edmans should bunt,he can bunt but he didnt. If he had, more than likely dodgers score a run. But no dodgers keep trying to rely on the big inning instead of common sense. So they didnt score. It sucks cause while i want the brewers to win the series i want the dodgers to win this game. I want more playoff baseball.
In the playoffs esp against dominant pitching, you dont get many multi run innings. So if you can create multiple number of innings where you can score 1 run, those 1 runs add up to multiple runs. Also bunting and the ability to bunt puts lots of pressure on the defense esp when most teams dont do it. Teams dont really ever practice the defense vs that type stuff after spring training so having a team of bunters as well as guys who can move runners over can be far more taxing on a team than a lineup of 9 guys who can hit home runs. If a pitcher is on, homeruns and extra base hits dont happen much, but those same pitches can be easily bunted as well as directed in the right way.
One thing ive wondered though watching the rays is i dont really consider them a small ball team like some have said. Ive only seen one attempted bunt from them. There were lots of siruations they had where i think milwaukee would def bunt.
Ramirez actually made 2 errors though one was more mental than an actual error. On the high chop to the shortstop with the guy on first, he didnt cover his bag so the runner just took third easily. Then he let the ball play him on the next hit and that allowed a run to score and 2 guys to be at second n third.
A little rain helped turn a leadoff single into a double for the rays. Ball just skipped off the grass. Rays bunted him over. Next guy drives him in with a single. I think with rays brewers we will actually get real baseball in the world series.
Dodgers got some help getting their runs, not too many actual hits. Right now brewers are outplaying and outpitching them. Watching some of the other game. Catcher for rays made a great throw to get ramirez stealing.
I know tbe brewers are the cardinals rival but the brewers play the game the way the cardinals should be playing the game. Bunting a guy over with the 7th batter with 8 and 9 coming up. You are putting the onus on those guys to do their job. Very few if any other teams would do that. I found it funny that smoltz was saying it was a bad decision because those 8 and 9 hitters didnt look good the first time but just as he was saying that, the guy got a hit and drove the runner in. Hilarious. I expect henderson to pitch well and yommamoto usually does so this should be a good game. I kind of agree with a rod on one tning. If the brewers keep goung to their same guys in the bullpen and early, it does give the hitters more time to figure these guys out. Could pay dividends later in the series.
Good game. The mizz wasnt as advertised but he only gave up 1 run through just over 4. Skubal gave up 2 in 5. Was prettt dominant for 3 but looked avg after that. Both bullpens were great and brewers hang on. I expect the rest of the games to be like this.
Call me crazy and i dont think the cardinals would even entertain the idea but i think they should go after skubal. I still think they are at least 2 years away maybe 3 for serious contention but they have the money, he would be a great veteran in the clubhouse. They could seriously limit his innings next season esp if the season starts off slow for the team. Try to keep him healthy and primed for when they have it together. Again i dont think they would do it but it would give us a number 1 starter and a veteran prescense.
Well im def tuning im tonight hopefully will be a good game. I want a pitchers duel but i want the brewwrs to win late. I dknt really care about the other series, cleveland hasnt won it all in so long its like they have never won.
While i dont really care i would prefer the guardians over white sox. I dont loath the white sox like i do the cubs but its been far longer since cleveland has won the world series so having them or rays would be great. Hopefully brewers win and we get pretty much new teams in the world series.
Saw where mlb is proposing going back to 154 game schedule with a day off every week. Also make the divisional round 7 games. Allow the higher seed in wild card round, lowest winning division winner, to choose their opponent. Something similiar in next round. Only thing not offered that i would like is to extend wild card series to 5 games or at least give one of the teams a home game. I think fans of teams that make playoffs deserve a home game in the playoffs.
Welli think boone messed up in the game wednesday. I think when fried gave up the hit leading off the 6th i believe, he should have taken fried out. Instead he left him in and bang you have a 2 run homer. During season i believe you ride tbe starter out there. But in the playoffs esp with an elimination game you have to go with the probabilities. A pitcher starting his third time through order vs a new pitcher. Sure the reliever could give the homer up but that would be om him not the manager. Fried had done his job to that point but in playoffs you have to manage in the moments. To me rays were better team so in the end prob wouldnt have mattered.
