The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 2-2 on Thursday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Palm Beach LH Cade Crossland, pitched five dominant innings of one-run ball with a career-high eight strikeouts and collected his second win. Other standouts include Luis Gastelum, Joshua Báez, Won-Bin Cho, Luis Pino, Yordalin Peña, and Cristofer Lebrón.

Memphis Redbirds 5 at Omaha Storm Chasers 4 (10 innings)
The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds won in extra-innings over the Storm Chasers in Omaha on Thursday.
Quinn Mathews made his 10th start for Memphis. The left-hander pitched four innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits, three walks, and eight strikeouts.
Hancel Rincon yielded two runs across two innings in relief of Mathews. Skylar Hales fanned three hitters over 1 ⅔ shutout frames. Chris Roycroft secured the final out of the eighth. Luis Gastelum struck out five and didn’t allow a hit across the final two innings to collect his fifth win of 2026.
Omaha tallied the first run of the game in the bottom of the third inning.
Memphis grabbed the lead with a two-run top of the fourth. Joshua Báez began the frame with his 16th home run of the season and the fifth in his last three games to tie the game at one apiece.

With one out, Bligh Madris belted his sixth home run of the year, a solo shot, to give the Redbirds a 2-1 lead.

Omaha knotted the game at two in the home fourth. The Redbirds immediately regained the lead in the fifth.
Colton Ledbetter walked and stole second base. Báez followed with his second triple of the season to score Ledbetter and move the Redbirds ahead 3-2.

Blaze Jordan reached on a fielder’s choice, moving to second base as Báez scored on the play via a throwing error for a 4-2 lead.
The Storm Chasers tied the game once more with a two-run home fifth. The game remained tied at four to bring extra innings.
The Redbirds jumped in front with a run in the top of the 10th inning. Jordan began the inning at second base and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Madris walked. Matt Koperniak brought Jordan home with a sacrifice fly to bring the Redbirds ahead 5-4.
Gastelum struck out the side in the 10th to seal the win.
The Redbirds scored five runs on six hits. Báez was 2-for-4 with a triple, a home run, a walk, two runs scored, and two RBI. Madris walked and hit a solo home run. Koperniak tallied the go-ahead RBI on a sacrifice fly. Ramon Mendoza and Andy Yerzy doubled.
On the basepaths, Ledbetter stole his eighth bag of the season. Brody Moore was picked off first base.
On defense, shortstop Jeremy Rivas made a throwing error. Catcher Yerzy was charged with a passed ball.
Memphis is 33-21 on the season. They hold a one-game lead over Nashville in the International League West Division.

Springfield Cardinals (postponed)
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals’ contest with the Wichita Wind Surge at Route 66 Stadium was postponed due to inclement weather on Thursday. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Saturday.

Peoria Chiefs 11 at Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 13
The High-A Peoria Chiefs lost a slugfest to the Timber Rattlers in Wisconsin on Thursday.
Tanner Franklin started his 10th game for the Chiefs. The right-hander threw 1 ⅔ innings and allowed three runs on one hit, three walks, and one strikeout in 65 pitches.
Jason Savacool fired 1 ⅓ shutout frames in relief of Franklin. Bobby Olsen gave up a run and struck out three across two innings. Patrick Galle surrendered six runs in just one frame of work, taking a blown save and the loss. Gerardo Salas yielded three runs over 1 ⅔ innings. Catcher Sammy Hernandez made his first professional pitching appearance and recorded the final out of the eighth inning without allowing a run.
The Chiefs struck first with a two-run top of the second inning. Won-Bin Cho walked and stole second base. Tre Richardson III reached on a throwing error, with Cho to third. Richardson III stole second. Luis Pino singled to score Cho and Richardson III to put the Chiefs in front.

Wisconsin grabbed a 3-2 lead with a three-run bottom of the second and added a run in the fourth.
Peoria tied the game in the fifth. With one out, Jack Gurevitch and Josh Kross lined back-to-back singles and advanced on a Cade McGee groundout. Cho rocketed his 10th double of the campaign to plate Gurevitch and Kross.

The Chiefs took the lead in the sixth. Pino hit his third home run of the season, a solo shot, to put the Chiefs ahead 5-4.

The Timber Rattlers knotted the score at five in the home sixth.
The Chiefs reclaimed the lead in the top of the seventh. McGee singled and Cho followed with his second double of the game. José Suárez grounded a single into center field to bring McGee and Cho home for a 7-5 Chiefs lead.
Wisconsin erupted for seven runs in the home seventh to grab a 12-7 lead.
Peoria moved within a run in the eighth. Christian Martin roped a single, stole second and advanced to third via a wild pitch. Gurevitch hit a one-out single to plate Martin. Kross and McGee followed with consecutive singles to load the bases. Cho cleared the bags with a triple to shrink the gap to one run at 12-11.

The Timber Rattlers scored an insurance run in the eighth to move ahead 13-11. The Chiefs left the tying runs on base in the ninth in the loss.
Peoria scored 11 runs on 14 hits. Cho was 3-for-5, including a walk, two doubles, a triple, two runs scored, and five RBI. Pino was 3-for-4, including a walk, a home run, and three RBI. Suárez singled and notched two RBI. Gurevitch walked, singled twice, scored twice, and drove in a run. Kross and McGee collected two hits apiece and scored twice.
On the bases, Cho swiped his 18th bag. Richardson III stole his eighth base. Suárez snagged his fifth bag and Martin tallied his third steal.
On defense, catcher Kross was charged with a passed ball.
Peoria is 22-26 on the season.

Palm Beach Cardinals 9, Lakeland Flying Tigers 3
The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals bested the Lakeland Flying Tigers at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium on Thursday.
Cade Crossland started his 10th game for Palm Beach. The left-hander fired five innings of one-run baseball on one hit, one walk, and a career-best eight strikeouts. Crossland earned his second win.

Liam Best allowed two runs across 1 ⅓ innings in relief of Crossland. Lefty Yadiel Batista struck out two over 1 ⅔ scoreless frames. Nelfy Ynfante shut the door with a shutout ninth.
Lakeland scored the first run of the game in the top of the second inning.
Palm Beach tied the game in the home third. With two outs, Jonathan Mejía singled and scored on a Michael Dattalo double.
The Cardinals grabbed the lead with a run in the fourth. Trevor Haskins pounded his fourth home run of the season, a solo shot, to put the Cardinals in front 2-1.
To open the four-run fifth. Facundo Velásquez hit a solo home run, his second with Palm Beach, for a 3-1 Cardinals lead.
Mejía and Dattalo followed with back-to-back singles. Yordalin Peña hit his first triple of 2026 to bring Mejía and Dattalo home. Haskins followed with a walk and a steal of second. Heriberto Caraballo brought Peña home on a groundout to widen the lead to 6-1.
Palm Beach added two runs in the sixth. Velásquez drew a leadoff walk. Brayden Smith grounded into a forceout. Mejía walked. Dattalo advanced Mejía and Smith on a soft groundout. Peña lined a single to score Smith, with Mejía to third. Peña swiped second and Haskins walked to load the bags. Caraballo took a bases-loaded walk to force Mejía home for an 8-2 lead.
Palm Beach scored an insurance run in the home eighth. Peña legged out an infield single. He swiped second base and moved to third on a dropped third strike. Caraballo walked. Johnfrank Salazar singled home Peña to stretch the lead to 9-3.
Ynfante slammed the door in the ninth to seal the win.
The Cardinals scored nine runs on 14 hits. Peña was 4-for-5, including a triple, two runs scored, and four RBI. Dattalo was 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI. Haskins and Velásquez each hit a solo home run. Caraballo walked twice and notched two RBI. Mejía collected two singles and scored three times.
On the bases, Peña stole two bags to increase his season total to 10. Haskins swiped his sixth base. Salazar snagged his third bag of the campaign. Smith was caught stealing second base.
The Cardinals did not commit an error.
Palm Beach is 26-22 on the season. They are 2.5 games behind Jupiter for first place in the Florida State League East Division.

FCL Cardinals 7 at FCL Marlins 8 (nine innings)
The Florida Complex League Cardinals were walked off by the Marlins on Thursday, their second consecutive loss in the final at-bat.
Xavier Cruz made his first start in his fourth appearance for the Cardinals. The right-hander pitched 3 ⅔ innings and allowed two runs on two hits, two walks, and five strikeouts.
Jarol Baéz yielded three runs across two innings in relief of Cruz. Alejandro Lóaiza gave up two runs, one earned, and struck out two over a career-high 2 ⅓ innings. Outfielder Andru Arthur made his debut on the mound and recorded one out in the ninth before yielding the walk-off run, taking the loss.
The Cardinals struck first with two runs in the top of the first inning. Anyelo Encarnación walked, stole second and took third on a throwing error. Miguel Hernández walked and swiped second. Yaxson Lucena drew a second consecutive walk to load the bases. Royelny Strop grounded a single into center field to bring Encarnación and Hernández home and put the Cardinals in front.
The Marlins tied the game with a run apiece in the second and third innings and took a 3-2 lead in the fifth.
The Cardinals regained the lead in the sixth. Juan Rujano singled and J.P. Cabrera doubled to put two runners in scoring position. Cristofer Lebrón singled home Rujano and Cabrera for a 4-3 Cardinals lead.
The Marlins grabbed a 5-4 lead with a pair of runs in the home sixth.
The Cardinals claimed their third lead of the game in the seventh. Encarnación walked and traveled the bases on three wild pitches in the same at-bat to tie the game. Sebastian Dos Santos drew a walk and stole second. Bracewell Taveras was hit by a pitch. Lucena grounded into a forceout, with Dos Santos home via a throwing error to move the Cardinals ahead 6-5.
The Marlins tied the game at six with a run in the home seventh but did not add further to force extra innings, as the game was slated to be a seven-inning contest.
The Cardinals plated a run in the eighth. Cabrera started the inning at second base and moved to third on a wild pitch. Following a strikeout, Lebrón ripped a double to score Cabrera and give the Cardinals a 7-6 lead.
The Marlins tied the game in the eighth and walked off the win in the ninth.
The FCL Cardinals scored seven runs on seven hits. Lebrón was 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI. Strop singled and drove in two runs. Dos Santos and Cabrera each recorded a double. In the fourth game of his rehab assignment, Encarnación drew two walks and scored twice as the DH, as he works to rejoin the Peoria Chiefs.
On the bases, Encarnación swiped his first bag of the rehab assignment. Hernández stole his fourth base. Lebrón recorded his seventh steal and Dos Santos snagged his eighth base. Lebrón was also caught stealing third base.
On defense, catcher Rujano, pitcher Lóaiza, and shortstop Dos Santos each made a throwing error. Pitcher Cruz picked a runner off first base. Lucena nailed a runner at third base from left field.
The FCL Cardinals are 5-13 on the season. They will play a home contest with the FCL Nationals on Friday.
Friday’s game: vs. FCL Nationals. Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 AM CT.
