The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 1-0 on Monday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, DSL RH Beiker Rodríguez, threw three innings of one-run relief. Other standouts: Yeferson Portolatin, Christopher Vargas and Roberth Castillo. We also preview the week’s action across the system.

Memphis Redbirds (off day)
The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds were off Monday as they headed home to AutoZone Park for a six-game set against the Nashville Sounds, starting Tuesday.
The Redbirds enter the week on a high note after taking five of six from the Norfolk Tides on the road.
Bligh Madris has swung a hot bat in recent games, bumping his batting average up to .282 and moving into second place on the team with 41 RBI along with eight home runs.
Outfielder Joshua Báez continues to showcase the power in his bat. The 22-year-old leads the Redbirds in RBI (51) while also having tallied the most steals (12). His HR total of 19 is tied for the International League lead.
On the mound, left-hander Bruce Zimmermann has thrown the most innings at 67 ⅔ and earned the most wins in the rotation with five through 13 starts. Zimmermann has recorded the most strikeouts on the staff at 75. Right-hander Luis Gastelum has collected a team-best six winning decisions in relief and has struck out 35 hitters across 35 innings with a 2.83 ERA.
Memphis is 43-26 on the season. They are percentage points behind Rochester for the first half lead in the International League West Division with six games remaining. The Redbirds must win or split their series with Nashville this week and finish at least one game ahead of Rochester to receive home field advantage in the playoffs.
Tuesday’s game: vs. Nashville (MIL). Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM CT.
Springfield Cardinals (off day)
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals were off Monday, as they traveled to Equity Bank Park in Wichita, Kansas, for a six-game series with the Wichita Wind Surge, starting Tuesday.
The Cardinals will look to rebound after winning just two of six at home against the Amarillo Sod Poodles.
Ryan Campos has provided a strong bat for the team and holds the team lead in RBI (37) and ranks third in home runs (6). Campos’s 10 doubles are tied with Miguel Ugueto for the most on the squad. Dakota Harris has showcased the power in recent games, moving to second on the team in home runs (7) and RBI (31). Harris has also swiped 17 bases.
On the mound, Jurrangelo Cijntje holds the most wins among starters with three through 12 starts. The switch-pitcher’s 70 strikeouts are the second-most on the staff. Mason Molina has thrown the most innings (55 ⅔) and has recorded the most strikeouts (71) with a steady 3.56 ERA. Lefty Jack Findlay has been a dependable bullpen arm, sporting a 2.41 ERA across 18 ⅔ innings, 13 appearances, and 19 strikeouts. Findlay has also collected three wins.
Springfield is 27-35 on the season. They reside in fourth place in the Texas League North Division.

Peoria Chiefs (off day)
The High-A Peoria Chiefs were off Monday, as they headed home to Dozer Park for a six-game series with the Dayton Dragons, starting Tuesday.
Peoria will look to rebound after taking just two of six from the Cubs in South Bend.
Tre Richardson III has been on a tear in recent games. The infielder has moved into second place on the team in home runs with 11 and is among the top five on the team in RBI (31). Jesús Báez has swung a powerful bat thus far as he leads the Chiefs with 14 home runs to set the Chiefs’ High-A single season home run record. He also ranks second on the team in RBI (41). Jalin Flores leads the Chiefs with 45 RBI and is second in hits at 56. Josh Kross holds the team lead in hits with 60. Kross has also hit nine home runs and driven in 26.
On the mound, Blake Aita has turned in 12 solid starts. The right-hander holds a 3.56 ERA across 48 innings and 56 strikeouts, the third-most on the staff. Yhoiker Fajardo holds a team-best 3.72 ERA across 46 innings in 11 games (nine starts) and is tied with Leonel Sequera for the most strikeouts at 62.
Peoria is 32-31 on the season. The Chiefs reside in third place in the Midwest League West Division.

Palm Beach Cardinals (off day)
The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals were off Monday, as they prepared for a six-game away series at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium with the Jupiter Hammerheads, starting Tuesday.
The Cardinals will look to gain momentum in the new series after losing five of six at home to the St. Lucie Mets.
Switch-hitting infielder Jonathan Mejía leads Palm Beach with eight home runs and 37 RBI. Yordalin Peña has collected the most hits on the team with 46 and has hit six home runs. Ryan Weingartner has tallied the second-most hits on the team with 42. In his first 20 games, Michael Dattalo has hit an impressive .372 with 35 hits and 14 RBI. Dattalo has also walked 12 times while striking out 10 times.
On the mound, left-hander Cade Crossland has thrown a team-high 50 ⅔ innings across 12 starts, striking out 71. Crossland has also won three contests. Nelfy Ynfante has been reliable out of the bullpen with a tidy 1.62 ERA over 13 appearances (one start), 27 ⅔ innings, and 32 strikeouts.
Palm Beach is 31-32 on the season. They are in second place in the Florida State League East Division, as Jupiter has clinched the first half title.
Tuesday’s game: at Jupiter (MIA). Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 AM CT.
FCL Cardinals (off day)
The Florida Complex League Cardinals were off Monday as they prepared for a home contest with the FCL Marlins on Tuesday.
The Cardinals will look to defeat the Marlins twice in a row after a 4-3 win on Saturday.
The FCL Cardinals are 10-18 on the season. They are in last place, 12 ½ games behind the Astros.
Tuesday’s game: vs. FCL Marlins. Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 AM CT.
DSL Cardinals 9, DSL Colorado 8 (seven innings)
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals walked off DSL Colorado in Monday’s seven-inning home contest.
Daniel Gómez made his third start for the Cardinals. The right-hander threw 1 ⅔ innings and allowed four runs on four hits, one walk, and two strikeouts.
Rafeli Moronta yielded three runs across 2 ⅓ innings in relief of Gómez. Beiker Rodríguez fired three innings of one-run baseball to collect his third win.
The Cardinals struck first in a two-run first inning. Carlos Carrión hit a lead-off double. Yeferson Portolatin lined a single to bring Carrión home, with Portolatin also scoring on the play via a fielding error.
DSL Colorado grabbed the lead with four runs in the second.
The Cardinals regained the lead with a four-run third. Portolatin opened with a double. Sebastian Rojas legged out an infield single. Luis Estrella walked to load the bases. Christopher Vargas ripped a double to plate Portolatin and Rojas. Estrella crossed home plate on a Michael Cordero groundout. Misael Sánchez reached on a fielder’s choice as Vargas was thrown out at home. Sánchez stole second base and scored on a Lucas Takahashi single to extend the lead to 6-4.
Colorado moved ahead 7-6 with three runs in the top of the fourth.
The Cardinals knotted the game once more in the home half of the frame. Portolatin hit his second double of the game. Rojas singled to put runners at the corners. Estrella brought Portolatin home with a sacrifice fly to tie the game at seven.
The Cardinals jumped in front with a run in the fifth. Takahashi reached on a missed catch error from the first baseman. Roberth Castillo sliced a double to score Takahashi and put the Cardinals in front 8-7.
Colorado knotted the game at eight apiece in the sixth.
After throwing a scoreless seventh frame and stranding two Colorado runners in scoring position, the Cardinals looked to snap the tie and walk-off the contest. With two away, Takahashi singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Castillo lined a single to bring Takahashi home for the Cardinals 9-8 walkoff win.
The DSL Cardinals scored nine runs on 13 hits. Castillo was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Vargas doubled and drove in two runs. Portolatin was a perfect 3-for-3, including a walk, two doubles, three runs scored, and an RBI. Estrella walked, singled, scored a run, and notched an RBI. Takahashi was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
On the bases, Sánchez swiped his second bag of the season. Portolatin was caught stealing second base.
On defense, catcher Rojas made a throwing error. Pitcher Rodríguez picked a runner off first base.
The DSL Cardinals are 7-4 on the season, tied for the best record in the Southeast Division. They will play at the DSL Tigers 1 on Tuesday.
