The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 1-1 on Monday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, FCL Cardinals infielder Bracewell Taveras, was 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Other standouts include J.P. Cabrera, Cristofer Lebrón, Daniel Gómez, and Andey Garrido.

Memphis Redbirds (off day)
The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds were off Monday as they traveled to Harbor Park in Norfolk, Virginia, for a six-game set with the Norfolk Tides, beginning Tuesday.
The Redbirds enter the week following a series split with the Louisville Bats at home.
Blaze Jordan continues to have a strong season with the Redbirds. The 23-year-old holds the highest batting average of players currently on the roster at .328 and leads the team with 69 hits. Jordan is third on the Redbirds in home runs (10) and RBI (33). Bligh Madris has swung a hot bat recently, bumping his batting average up to .277 and moving into second place on the team with 36 RBI.
Outfielder Joshua Báez continues to showcase the power in his bat. The 22-year-old leads the Redbirds in home runs (17) and RBI (45) while also stealing the most bases (11).
On the mound, left-hander Bruce Zimmermann has thrown the most innings at 62 and earned the most wins in the rotation with four through 12 starts. Zimmermann has also recorded the most strikeouts on the staff at 71. Right-hander Luis Gastelum has collected a team-best six winning decisions in relief and has struck out 32 hitters across 32 innings with a 3.09 ERA.
Memphis is 35-22 on the season. They are tied with Nashville for first place in the International League West Division.
Tuesday’s game: at Norfolk (BAL). LH Pete Hansen (1-1, 4.01) vs. TBA. First pitch is scheduled for 5:35 PM CT.
Springfield Cardinals (off day)
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals were off Monday, as they headed home to Route 66 Stadium for a six-game series with the Amarillo Sod Poodles, starting Tuesday.
The Cardinals will look to rebound after a series loss in Frisco.
Ryan Campos has provided a strong bat, tied for second on the Cardinals in home runs (6) and leads the team in RBI (33). Campos’s nine doubles are tied with Miguel Ugueto for second-best on the squad.
Outfielder Chase Davis has provided the power with a team-best eight home runs with 24 RBI to complement the home run total. Davis has stolen nine bases while being caught just once.
On the mound, Jurrangelo Cijntje holds the most wins among starters with three through 11 starts. The switch-pitcher’s 64 strikeouts are the most on the staff. Lefty Jack Findlay has been a dependable bullpen arm, sporting a 2.30 ERA across 15 ⅔ innings, 11 appearances, and 15 strikeouts. Findlay has also collected three wins.
Springfield is 25-31 on the season, They reside in fourth place in the Texas League North Division.
Tuesday’s game: vs. Amarillo (AZ). LH Mason Molina (1-2, 3.15) vs. TBA. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 PM CT.
Peoria Chiefs (off day)
The High-A Peoria Chiefs were off Monday, as they traveled to Four Winds Field in South Bend, Indiana, for a six-game series with the South Bend Cubs, starting Tuesday.
Peoria will look to continue their winning ways after a series sweep of the Beloit Sky Carp at Dozer Park. Their momentum comes at a good time as they face the first-place South Bend Cubs with a chance to gain further ground in the division.
Tre Richardson III has been on a tear in recent games. The infielder clubbed five home runs against the Sky Carp to catapult to second place on the team with 10 home runs. His efforts were rewarded with being the second consecutive Chief to earn Midwest League Player of the Week recognition.

Jesús Báez has swung a powerful bat thus far as he leads the Chiefs with 11 home runs and is fourth on the team in RBI (33). Jalin Flores leads the Chiefs with 41 RBI and is second in hits at 51. Josh Kross holds the team lead in hits with 52. Kross has also hit seven home runs and driven in 21.
On the mound, Blake Aita has turned in 11 solid starts. The right-hander holds a 3.23 ERA across 47 ⅓ innings and his 55 strikeouts are tied for the second-most on the staff. Aita enters the week following six shutout innings against Beloit on Sunday. Jhoiker Fajardo holds a team-best 3.21 ERA across 42 innings in 10 games (eight starts) and leads the pitching staff with 57 strikeouts.
Peoria is 30-27 on the season. The Chiefs reside in third place in the Midwest League West Division, six games back of first place.
Tuesday’s game: RRH Yhoiker Fajardo (1-2, 3.21) vs. RHP Eli Jerzembeck (4-2, 3.38). 6:05 PM CT.
Palm Beach Cardinals (off day)
The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals were off Monday, as they headed home to Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium for a six-game series with the St. Lucie Mets, starting Tuesday.
The Cardinals will look to rebound after winning just one game last week.
Switch-hitting infielder Jonathan Mejía leads Palm Beach with eight home runs and 34 RBI. Yordalin Peña has collected the most hits on the team with 40 and has hit four home runs. Ryan Weingartner has tallied the second-most hits on the team with 37. In his first 20 games, Michael Dattalo has hit an impressive .408 with 31 hits and 13 RBI along with nine walks.
On the mound, left-hander Cade Crossland has thrown a team-high 45 ⅔ innings across 11 starts, striking out 67. Crossland has won two contests. Nelfy Ynfante has been reliable out of the bullpen with a tidy 1.93 ERA over 11 relief appearances, 23 ⅓ innings, and 29 strikeouts.
Palm Beach is 30-27 on the season. They are two games behind first place Jupiter in the Florida State League East Division.
Tuesday’s game: at Tampa (NYY). Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 PM CT.
The Florida Complex League Cardinals lost a close contest to the first place FCL Astros on Monday.
Andrew Dutkanych IV made his fourth start for the Cardinals. The rehabbing right-hander threw 2 ⅓ innings and allowed one run on two hits, two walks, and three strikeouts.
Jarol Baéz gave up two unearned runs as he finished the third inning in relief of Dutkanych IV. Branneli Franco surrendered three runs across 2 ⅔ innings and took the loss. Owen Rice yielded a run and fanned three over 1 ⅓ innings. Giovanni Vargas allowed two runs, one earned, across the final two innings.
The Cardinals opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Cristofer Lebrón was hit by a pitch. Lebrón stole second and moved to third via a throwing error.
In the first plate appearance of his rehab assignment, Deniel Ortiz brought Lebrón home via a sacrifice fly to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead.
The Cardinals extended their lead with three runs in the second. With two outs, Royelny Strop walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. J.P. Cabrera lined a single to score Strop. Bracewell Taveras followed with a single. Taveras and Cabrera advanced on a wild pitch. Lebrón grounded a single to plate Taveras and Cabrera and extend the lead to 4-0.
The Astros moved within one with a three-run third inning.
The Cardinals took a run back in the fourth. Strop singled and moved to second via a wild pitch. Cabrera drew a walk, with Strop to third base on a passed ball. Cabrera made it to second base via a Taveras flyout to put two runners in scoring position. Strop stole home plate for the fifth Cardinals run and a two-run lead.
The Astros responded with three runs in the sixth, one run in the seventh, and two runs in the eighth to jump ahead 9-5.
Down to their final three outs, the Cardinals looked to rally. Cabrera ripped a double and scored on Taveras’s second home run of the season, a two-run blast, to move the Cardinals within two at 9-7. Lebrón singled and Miguel Hernández walked to put the tying runs on base, but neither were able to score.
The FCL Cardinals scored seven runs on eight hits. Taveras was 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI. Lebrón went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI. Cabrera was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored, and two RBI.
On the bases, Lebrón stole two bases to increase his season total to 10. Strop stole home for his sixth steal.
On defense, shortstop Hernández made two throwing errors. Pitcher Dutkanych IV picked a runner off second base. Ortiz collected an RBI in the first game of his rehab assignment, as he works to rejoin the Springfield Cardinals. The Cardinals turned two double plays.
The FCL Cardinals are 8-17 on the season. They are off Tuesday and will play a road contest with the FCL Mets on Wednesday.
Wednesday’s game: at FCL Mets. Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 AM CT.
DSL Cardinals 3 at DSL Nationals 1 (Seven innings)
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals edged the DSL Nationals in a road contest on Monday.
Daniel Gómez made his second start for the Cardinals. The right-hander pitched 3 ⅓ scoreless innings on four hits, no walks, and five strikeouts.
Rafeli Moronta yielded a run over 1 ⅓ innings and struck out three, collecting his first professional win. Andey Garrido fired two shutout innings and collected his first career save.
The Cardinals struck first with a run in the top of the first inning. With two outs, Sebastian Rojas singled and moved to second on a fielding error. Rojas advanced to third and scored on consecutive wild pitches.
The Cardinals doubled the lead to 2-0 in the third. Lucas Takahashi singled and Emanuel Luna walked. Rojas grounded into a forceout, with Luna out at second base. Rojas swiped second and Luis Estrella walked to load the bags. Christopher Vargas drew a bases-loaded walk to force Takahashi home.
The Nationals cut the lead in half in the home fifth.
The Cardinals took the run back in the sixth. Vargas walked and took second on a wild pitch. Misael Sánchez ripped his first career double to score Vargas for a 3-1 lead.
The Cardinals held the Nationals to 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position in the win.
The DSL Cardinals scored three runs on four hits. Sánchez doubled and drove in a run. Rojas singled and scored a run. Estrella singled. Vargas drew two walks, scored a run, and notched an RBI.
On the bases, Rojas swiped the first bag of his career.
On defense, catcher Rojas made a throwing error. Shortstop Yeferson Portolatin committed a fielding error. The Cardinals turned three double plays.
The DSL Cardinals are 5-1 on the season. They are off Tuesday and will play a road contest with the DSL Giants Black on Wednesday.
