The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 0-1 on Monday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, DSL Cardinals third baseman Michael Cordero, doubled and homered for three RBI. Other standouts include Daniel Gómez, Juan Santillán and Yeferson Portolatin.

Memphis Redbirds (off day)
The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds were off Monday as they traveled to Gwinnett Field in Lawrenceville, Georgia, for a six-game set with the Gwinnett Stripers, starting Tuesday.
The Redbirds will look to continue their momentum following a 4-2 series win over the Charlotte Knights at AutoZone Park.
Outfielder Joshua Báez continues to showcase a powerful bat. The 22-year-old leads the International League in home runs (28) and RBI (69) while also stealing the most bases on the Redbirds (14). Báez also leads the team in hits at 81.
Ramon Mendoza leads players currently on the roster with a .300 batting average. Mendoza has hit six home runs and collected 31 RBI among 67 hits, the second-most of players on the roster.
On the mound, Quinn Mathews has totaled the most strikeouts at 90 across 72 innings with a solid 3.88 ERA. Right-hander Luis Gastelum has collected a team-best seven winning decisions in relief and has struck out 49 hitters across 43 ⅔ innings with a 2.27 ERA.
Hancel Rincon is coming off a dominant week as he retired every batter he faced in his three relief outings, earning International League Pitcher of the Week honors for the period of June 29-July 5.

Springfield Cardinals (off day)
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals were off Monday, as they traveled to ONEOK Field in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for a six-game series with the Tulsa Drillers, starting Tuesday.
The Cardinals will look to continue their winning ways after winning five of six over the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, followed by a 4-2 series win over the Arkansas Travelers in front of their home crowd for a 9-3 record in their longest homestand of the season.
Ryan Campos has provided a strong bat and holds the team lead in RBI (46) and home runs (10). Campos’s .290 batting average is the highest on the squad and his 13 doubles are second-best on the team.
Won-Bin Cho has displayed strong power and run production in his 10 games of Double-A baseball. Cho has pounded seven home runs with 14 RBI along with a strong .278 batting average. Jesús Báez hit .314 with five home runs and 11 RBI in his first 10 games with Springfield.
On the mound, Jurrangelo Cijntje is coming off one of his best starts of the season. The switch-pitcher threw six scoreless innings and struck out nine in a dominant outing, increasing his team lead in strikeouts to 92. Cijntje has also logged the most innings on the team at 74 ⅓.
Springfield is 9-3 in the second half and 40-40 overall. The Cardinals hold a half-game lead in the Texas League North Division for the second half.
Tuesday’s game: at Tulsa (LAD). LHP Braden Davis (1-3, 5.01) vs. RHP Christian Zazueta (2-2, 3.43) 7:00 PM CT.
Peoria Chiefs (off day)
The High-A Peoria Chiefs were off Monday, as they headed to Modern Woodmen Park in Davenport, Iowa, for a six-game series with the Quad Cities River Bandits, beginning Tuesday.
Peoria enters the week after taking just two of six from Wisconsin at Dozer Park.
On offense, Jalin Flores leads the Chiefs with 52 RBI and has also hit 10 home runs. Flores, Josh Kross, and José Suárez are in a three-way tie for the team lead in hits (67). Cade McGee leads players currently on the roster with 11 home runs.
On the mound, Yhoiker Fajardo holds the lowest ERA amongst starters at 3.73 across 60 ⅓ innings in 14 games (12 starts) and has tallied the most strikeouts on the staff at 81. Leonel Sequera enters the week following a dominant start during which he threw six scoreless innings en route to the win. Sequera is second on the team in Ks at 77.
Peoria is 6-8 in the second half and 38-42 overall. The Chiefs are five games back of first place in the Midwest League West Division.
Tuesday’s game: at Quad Cities (KC). Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM CT.
Palm Beach Cardinals (off day)
The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals were off Monday, as they traveled to Jackie Robinson Ballpark in Daytona Beach, Florida, for a six-game series with the Daytona Tortugas, starting Tuesday.
The Cardinals enter the week with a 1.5 game lead in the Florida State League East Division after a 10-5 start to the second half.
Ryan Weingartner and Yordalin Peña are tied for the team lead in home runs (11) and RBI (45). Peña has tallied a team-best 61 hits, with Weingartner one behind. Ryan Mitchell has drawn the most walks on the team at 65.
On the mound, left-hander Cade Crossland has thrown a team-high 61 ⅓ innings across 15 appearances and 14 starts, striking out a team-best 89. Crossland has four wins.
Jack Martinez is the second Palm Beach pitcher to cross the 80-strikeout mark, now at 85 on the season. Martinez enters the week coming off the best start of his young career, as he fanned nine hitters across a career-high six innings to earn his first professional win.
The Beach Birds have a record of 10-5 in the second half and are 43-38 overall. They hold a 1.5 game lead in the Florida State League East Division.
Tuesday’s game: at Daytona (CIN). Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 5:35 PM CT.
FCL Cardinals vs. FCL Nationals (suspended)
The Florida Complex League Cardinals’ home contest against the FCL Nationals was suspended due to rain on Monday.
The game is scheduled to be completed on Friday, July 10, with two outs in the bottom of the second inning and the Cardinals ahead 5-3.
The Cardinals will play a road contest with the FCL Marlins on Tuesday.
The FCL Cardinals are 14-25 on the season.
Tuesday’s game: at FCL Marlins. Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 AM CT.
DSL Cardinals 5 at DSL Rangers Blue 6
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals dropped a tight road contest to the DSL Rangers Blue on Monday.
Daniel Gómez started his sixth game for the Cardinals. The right-hander pitched four innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits, one walk, and two strikeouts. Gómez holds a 2.57 ERA on the season.
Rafeli Moronta surrendered four runs over 1 ⅔ innings in relief of Gómez, taking the loss. Juan Santillán lowered his ERA to 0.75 with 1 ⅓ shutout frames. Beiker Rodríguez tossed a scoreless eighth inning.
The Cardinals packed an early punch with a four-run top of the first inning.
Yeferson Portolatin led off the game with a ground-rule double. Sebastian Rojas followed with a walk. Portolatin moved to third base on a wild pitch and scored on a Jhon Franganten sacrifice fly. Luis Estrella walked. Michael Cordero ripped a double to score Rojas and Estrella. Cordero advanced to third on a wild pitch. Jesús Pérez reached base via a throwing error, as Cordero scored the game’s fourth run.
The Rangers Blue scored single runs in the first, second and fifth. They took advantage of walks in the sixth to plate three runs for a 6-4 lead.
Down to their final three outs, the Cardinals looked to rally. With two outs, Cordero launched his fourth home run of the season, a solo shot, to bring the Cardinals within one at 6-5. The Cardinals were unable to rally further.
The DSL Cardinals scored five runs on six hits. Cordero was 2-for-5, including a double, a home run, two runs scored, and three RBI. Franganten walked and notched an RBI. Portolatin drew four walks and doubled. Castillo doubled. The lineup was just 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left 10 runners on base.
The Cardinals did not steal a base.
On defense, third baseman Cordero made a throwing error. The Cardinals turned two double plays in the game.
The DSL Cardinals are 13-12 on the season. They will look to turn the tables in a rematch with the DSL Rangers Blue on Tuesday at home.
