The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 4-2 on Saturday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Springfield’s Brody Moore, doubled and hit his first career grand slam in a three-hit four RBI game. Other standouts: Travis Honeyman, Randel Clemente, Michael Dattalo, Anthony Watts, Jan Cabrera, Diego Conseción and Sebastian Rojas.

Memphis Redbirds 2 at Gwinnett Stripers 9
The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds took their third consecutive loss at the Gwinnett Stripers on Saturday.
Ryan Murphy made his first start of the season in his 17th game for Memphis. The right-hander threw 2 ⅓ innings and allowed four runs on three hits, two walks, and three strikeouts. Murphy took the loss.
Murphy was given the ball when scheduled starter Brycen Mautz was scratched.
Victor Santos yielded a run over 1 ⅓ innings in relief. Scott Blewett recorded 1 ⅓ shutout frames. Tink Hence gave up two runs in the sixth. Austin Love allowed two runs across the final two innings.
The Stripers scored first with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Memphis tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the third. Victor Scott II legged out an infield single and stole second. Thomas Saggese and Nolan Gorman drew back-to-back walks to load the bases. Leo Bernal followed with a single to bring Scott II and Saggese home.

Gwinnett scored twice in the home third, once in the fourth, and added pairs of runs in the sixth and eighth frames to take a 9-2 lead. Memphis did not have a baserunner after the sixth inning.
The Redbirds scored two runs on six hits, all singles. Bernal recorded a hit and two RBI. Scott II and Saggese each tallied a hit and a run scored. Prieto, Yohel Pozo, and Matt Koperniak each logged a hit. Gorman drew three walks.
On the bases, Scott II stole his seventh bag of the year with Memphis.
On defense, shortstop Jeremy Rivas made a throwing error.
Memphis is 7-10 in the second half and 54-38 overall. They will look to split the series with a win on Sunday.

Springfield Cardinals 10 at Tulsa Drillers 4 (6 innings)
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals clobbered the Tulsa Drillers in a rain-shortened road win on Saturday.
Cooper Hjerpe started his second game for Springfield. The left-hander tossed 1 ⅔ innings and allowed two runs on two hits, four walks and five strikeouts.
Randel Clemente pitched 2 ⅓ scoreless innings with three strikeouts in relief and earned his second win. Tyler Bradt yielded two runs, one earned, in the fifth and final defensive frame for the Cardinals.
Springfield set the tone with a seven-run top of the first inning. Travis Honeyman hit a lead-off single and stole second base. Won-Bin Cho lined a single to score Honeyman. Cho moved to second on a pickoff error and scored on a two-run shot from Jesús Báez, his seventh Double-A long ball.

Ryan Campos reached first on a fielding error. Deniel Ortiz and Tre Richardson III hit back-to-back singles to reload the bases, still with no outs. Brody Moore crushed his first career grand slam to match Springfield’s single-season grand slam record and widen the lead to 7-0.

Tulsa scored twice in the home first to dent the score to 7-2.
Springfield expanded the lead to 10-2 with a three-run third. Moore doubled and moved to third on a groundout. Dakota Harris walked. Travis Honeyman cranked his eighth home run of the year, a three-run shot.

The Drillers scored twice in the fifth to move the score to 10-4. The game was called due to rain before the bottom of the sixth could begin.
The Cardinals scored 10 runs on 10 hits. Moore was 3-for-3, including a double, two runs scored, and a grand slam for four RBI. Honeyman was 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs, a home run, and three RBI. Báez drove in two on a home run. Cho walked, singled, scored, and notched an RBI.
On the bases, Honeyman tallied his 25th steal.
On defense, third baseman Ortiz made a throwing error.
Springfield is 11-6 in the second half and 42-43 overall. The Cardinals will look to split the series with a win on Sunday.

Peoria Chiefs 9 at Quad Cities River Bandits 8
The High-A Peoria Chiefs overcame an early 6-0 deficit and staged a ninth-inning comeback to defeat the Quad Cities River Bandits on the road on Saturday.
Leonel Sequera started his 16th game for Peoria. The right-hander pitched four innings and allowed six runs on seven hits, two walks, and four strikeouts.
Bobby Olsen yielded a run across two innings in relief. Nolan Sparks gave up an unearned run over two innings but picked up his fifth win of the season. Rubén Menes fired a scoreless no-hit ninth to collect his first professional save.
The River Bandits scored three runs apiece in the first and second innings to grab a 6-0 lead.
Peoria entered the run column in the top of the third as Anyelo Encarnación doubled and scored on a Luis Pino single.

The Chiefs plated a run in the fourth as Josh Kross hit a solo home run, his 11th of the year and second in two games.

The Chiefs scored four times in the sixth to erase the 6-0 gap and tie the game.
Jack Gurevitch and Kross began the frame with walks. Sammy Hernandez doubled to score Gurevitch. Christian Martin also doubled to plate Kross and Hernandez and bring the Chiefs within a run. With two outs, Pino beat out an infield single to bring Martin home and tie the game at six apiece.

The River Bandits scored single runs in the home sixth and eighth innings to move ahead 8-6.
Down to their last three outs, the Chiefs looked to rally. Pino led off with his third single of the game. The outfielder moved to third on two wild pitches. Jalin Flores walked. Michael Dattalo belted his first High-A home run, a three-run blast, to give the Chiefs their first lead of the game at 9-8.

Menes closed the door in the bottom of the ninth to protect the Peoria win.
The Chiefs’ lineup hit .500 (5-for-10) with runners in scoring position. Peoria scored nine runs on nine hits. Dattalo homered and drove in three. Pino was 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI. Martin walked, doubled, scored, and drove in two. Hernandez was 2-for-5, including a double, a run scored, and an RBI. Kross walked, scored twice, and hit a home run. Encarnación doubled and scored.
The Chiefs did not steal a base.
On defense, catcher Hernandez made a throwing error.
Peoria is 8-11 in the second half and 40-45 overall. They will look to secure the series split with a win on Sunday.

Palm Beach Cardinals 8 at Daytona Tortugas 2
The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals bested the Tortugas in Daytona Beach on Saturday.
Payton Graham made his ninth start for the Cardinals. The right-hander threw four innings and allowed two unearned runs on four hits, no walks, and two strikeouts.
Yadiel Batista fired two shutout frames in relief. Anthony Watts followed with 2 ⅓ scoreless, hitless innings with four strikeouts and earned his second win. Zeke Wood struck out the final two hitters to finish the game.
Daytona opened the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the second inning.
Palm Beach plated four runs in the top of the fourth to jump in front. Ryan Mitchell was hit by a pitch and scored from first base on a Brayden Smith double. Smith crossed home plate on an errant pickoff throw to tie the game. Yordalin Peña followed with a single and stole second base. Jonathan Mejía pounded his 11th home run of the year, a two-run shot, to give the Cardinals a 4-2 lead.
Palm Beach scored twice in the sixth. Chase Heath ripped his 13th double and scored on a Johnfrank Salazar single. Salazar swiped second base and advanced to third on a groundout. Sebastian Dos Santos walked to put runners on the corners. Salazar scored on a wild pitch for the sixth Cardinals run, with Dos Santos thrown out at third base on the play to end the inning.
The Cardinals scored an insurance run in the eighth. Chase Heath reached on a fielding error by the right fielder, winding up at third base. Trevor Haskins lined a single to bring Heath home and extend the Palm Beach lead to 7-2.
Palm Beach added a run in the ninth on Mitchell’s ninth career home run, a solo shot.
Palm Beach pitching held Daytona to 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position and stranded nine Tortugas on base.
The Cardinals scored eight runs on 11 hits, six of which went for extra bases. Mejía drove in two runs on a home run. Mitchell scored twice and hit a home run. Salazar was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Haskins singled and notched an RBI. Smith doubled, scored, and drove in one. Peña and Weingartner each collected two hits, including a double.
On the bases, Peña swiped his 17th bag. Salazar stole his fourth base.
On defense, second baseman Dos Santos made a throwing error. First baseman Haskins committed a fielding miscue.
Palm Beach is 12-8 in the second half and 45-41 overall. They hold a half-game lead over Daytona in the Florida State League East Division. The Cardinals will look to split the series with a win on Sunday.

FCL Cardinals 3, FCL Mets 0 (7 innings)
The Florida Complex League Cardinals blanked the FCL Mets in seven innings on Saturday.
Brandon Clarke started for the Cardinals in a rehab outing in his organizational debut, as he works to join the Springfield Cardinals. The left-hander pitched 1 ⅔ scoreless innings on no hits, no walks, and two strikeouts.
Regular starter Jan Cabrera fired 4 ⅓ shutout frames with five strikeouts in relief of Clarke and picked up his second win. Giovanni Vargas threw a scoreless seventh to collect his first save of the year.
The Cardinals struck first with a run in the bottom of the third inning. Andru Arthur walked and stole second base. In his second FCL game, Yeferson Portolatin had his first hit, a two-out single to score Arthur.
The Cardinals added two runs in the sixth. Miguel Hernández opened with his seventh home run of the year, a solo shot. Portolatin walked, swiped second and moved to third on a balk. Kenly Hunter walked and stole second. Daniel Rojas legged out an infield single to plate Portolatin and increase the lead to 3-0.
The Cardinals did not allow a hit with runners in scoring position in the win.
The FCL Cardinals scored three runs on just three hits. Hernández’ home run was the only extra-base hit for either team. Rojas collected a hit and an RBI. Portolatin walked, singled, scored, and drove in a run.
On the bases, Portolatin stole his first bag in the US. Arthur swiped his second base. Hunter snagged his 15th bag.
The Cardinals did not commit an error.
The FCL Cardinals are 17-27 on the season. They are off Sunday and will continue their homestand with a contest against the FCL Marlins on Monday.
Monday’s game: vs. FCL Marlins. Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 AM CT.
DSL Cardinals 7 at DSL Rangers Blue 9
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals lost a close contest to the DSL Rangers Blue on Saturday.
Jose Vega made his fifth start for the Cardinals. The right-hander pitched four innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on six hits, one walk and three strikeouts.
Brayan Amoroso tossed two scoreless, no-hit innings with two strikeouts in relief of Vega. Andey Garrido gave up two runs across 1 ⅓ frames. Juan Santillán surrendered three runs and recorded the final two outs of the eighth, taking the loss.
The Rangers Blue scored the first run of the game in the home second inning.
The Cardinals grabbed the lead with a three-run third. Diego Conseción led off the inning with his first career triple. Emanuel Luna walked. Sebastian Rojas lined a single to bring Conseción home. Luna moved to third base via a wild pitch. Luis Estrella walked to load the bags. Jhonny Chaparro connected for a single to score Luna and Rojas and put the Cardinals in front 3-1.
The Rangers Blue answered with three runs in the home half of the frame to jump ahead 4-3.
The Cardinals regained the lead with two runs in the fifth. With two outs, Chaparro walked. Roberth Castillo and Lucas Takahashi singled to load the bags. Conseción hit a double to plate Chaparro and Castillo and give the Cardinals a 5-4 lead.
The Cardinals extended the lead with a pair of runs in the eighth. Conseción and Christian Sáez singled. Conseción took third on a passed ball. Rojas doubled home Conseción. Michael Cordero lined a single to bring Sáez to the plate and widen the Cardinals lead to 7-4, though Rojas was thrown out at home on the play.
The Rangers Blue responded with five runs in the home eighth to grab a 9-7 lead. The Cardinals were unable to rally in the ninth.
The DSL Cardinals scored seven runs on 14 hits. Conseción went 3-for-4, including a double, a triple, two runs scored, and two RBI. Rojas was 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored, and two RBI. Chaparro walked, singled twice, scored, and drove in two. Cordero singled and notched an RBI.
On the basepaths, Castillo was caught stealing second base.
On defense, second baseman Conseción and shortstop Castillo each made a throwing error. Catcher Rojas made two throwing errors.
The DSL Cardinals are 14-14 on the season. They are off Sunday and will play a road contest with the DSL Mets Blue on Monday.
