The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 0-4 on Sunday as they were outscored 41-12. All four full-season clubs lost their weekend series. TCN’s Player of the Day, Palm Beach’s Yairo Padilla, hit a grand slam. Other standouts: Chase Davis, Andy Yerzy, Jon Jon Gazdar, Rainiel Rodriguez and Gabriel Chinchilla.

Memphis Redbirds 4, Iowa Cubs 13
The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds dropped a lopsided series finale to the Iowa Cubs at AutoZone Park on Sunday.
Jurrangelo Cijntje started for Memphis in his Triple-A debut. The switch-pitcher faced 19 batters right-handed and two hitters left-handed. Cijntje pitched 3 ⅔ innings and allowed six runs on six hits, four walks, and three strikeouts, taking the loss.
Tink Hence yielded a run and recorded the final out of the fourth inning in relief of Cijntje. Lefty Jared Shuster gave up three runs across two innings. Ryan Murphy stood out as the only Redbirds pitcher to not be scored upon, covering the seventh and eighth. Cade Winquest surrendered three runs in the ninth.
Memphis opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Victor Scott singled, stole second and reached third on a throwing error. Chase Davis walked to put runners at the corners. Joshua Báez grounded into a double play, with Scott II coming home.
The Cubs scored four runs in the top of the third and three in the fourth to jump ahead 7-1.
The Redbirds dented the score with a run in the home fourth. Chase Davis launched his first Triple-A home run for his first hit with Memphis, a solo blast, for a 7-2 score.

Iowa scored three times in the fifth to extend their lead to 10-2.
The Redbirds chipped into the gap with two runs in the eighth. Ramon Mendoza was hit by a pitch and scored on a two-run home run from Andy Yerzy, his first of 2026, to cut into the Iowa lead at 10-4.
Iowa plated three runs in the ninth to pad the lead to 13-4. Memphis was unable to answer.
The Redbirds scored four runs on four hits. Yerzy homered for two RBI. Davis walked and hit a solo home run. Scott II singled and scored a run. Nolan Gorman logged a single.
On the bases, Scott II stole his eighth bag of the year with Memphis.
On defense, center fielder Scott II committed a fielding error.
Memphis is 9-12 in the second half and 55-41 overall after dropping two of three over the weekend. They are tied for last place in the International League West Division. The Redbirds are off Monday and will begin a six-game home set with the Durham Bulls on Tuesday.

Springfield Cardinals 2, Amarillo Sod Poodles 13
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals fell to the Amarillo Sod Poodles in the series finale at Route 66 Stadium on Sunday.
Liam Doyle made his 15th start for Springfield. The left-hander pitched five innings and allowed two runs on three hits, five walks, and three strikeouts. Doyle took the loss.
Michael Watson fired a shutout sixth frame. Nolan Sparks followed with a scoreless seventh in his Double-A debut. D.J. Carpenter surrendered seven runs and recorded just one out. Hunter Hayes gave up four runs and finished the eighth frame. Randel Clemente struck out three in a scoreless ninth.
Amarillo scored first in the top of the first inning.
Springfield tied the game in the home third. Jon Jon Gazdar blasted his seventh home run with Springfield, a solo shot, to tie the game 1-1.

The Sod Poodles regained the lead with a run in the fifth and blew the game open with 11 runs in the eighth.
The Cardinals plated one run in the home eighth. Rainiel Rodriguez scorched his ninth home run of the season, a solo blast, but that ended the scoring at 13-2.

Springfield scored two runs on four hits. Rodriguez and Gazdar each hit a solo home run. Zach Levenson walked and doubled. Ryan Campos drew two walks.
On the bases, Tre Richardson III swiped his 13th Double-A bag. Deniel Ortiz was caught stealing second base.
On defense, Honeyman nailed a runner at home plate from right field on a stellar relay from the Springfield defense.

Springfield is 13-8 in the second half and 44-45 overall after losing two of three over the weekend. They hold a one-game lead over Tulsa in the Texas League North Division. Springfield is off Monday and will travel to Arvest Ballpark in Springdale, Arkansas, for a six-game set with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, starting Tuesday.

Peoria Chiefs 0 at South Bend Cubs 7
The High-A Peoria Chiefs were blanked by the Cubs in South Bend in Sunday’s series finale.
Tanner Franklin made his 17th start for Peoria. The right-hander threw 4 ⅓ innings and allowed one run on one hit, one walk, and four strikeouts, taking the tough loss.
Gerardo Salas gave up four runs, two earned, while securing just two outs in relief of Franklin. Bobby Olsen yielded a run in the sixth. Dominic Freeberger allowed a run in the seventh. Christian Worley struck out two in a shutout eighth.
The Chiefs threatened to break the scoreless tie in the fifth. Michael Dattalo walked and moved to second on a groundout. Anyelo Encarnación was hit by a pitch and Tai Peete walked with two outs to load the bases, though all three runners were stranded.
South Bend scored five runs in the sixth and added single run in the seventh and eighth for a 7-0 lead. Peoria was unable to respond.
The Chiefs scored no runs on five hits. Hernandez was 2-for-4 with a double. Jack Gurevitch walked and singled. Pino and José Suárez singled. The lineup was 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine runners on base.
On the bases, Hernandez tallied his 10th steal.
On defense, shortstop Encarnación made a throwing error. Suárez threw a runner out at second base from right field. The Chiefs turned two double plays.
Peoria is 9-14 in the second half and 41-48 overall after dropping two of three in South Bend. The Chiefs reside in fifth place in the Midwest League West Division. Peoria is off Monday as they head home to Dozer Park for a six-game series with the West Michigan Whitecaps, starting Tuesday.

Palm Beach Cardinals 6, St. Lucie Mets 8
The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals’ comeback fell just short in the rubber match against the St. Lucie Mets at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium on Sunday.
Cade Crossland made his 16th start in his 17th appearance for Palm Beach. The left-hander pitched 2 ⅓ innings and allowed six runs on six hits, two walks, and five strikeouts. Crossland took the loss.
Anthony Watts secured the last two outs of the third inning. Gabriel Chinchilla pitched five innings and yielded two runs with four strikeouts in his High-A debut. Liam Best threw a shutout ninth.
St. Lucie jumped out to a 6-0 lead with three runs apiece in the first and third innings.
The Cardinals entered the run column in the home sixth. Ryan Mitchell launched his 10th home run of the year, a solo shot.
The Mets plated two runs in the seventh to move ahead 8-1.
Palm Beach narrowed the gap to two runs with a five-run home seventh. Yordalin Peña led off the frame with his 13th home run. Jonathan Mejía, Trevor Haskins and Sebastian Dos Santos walked to load the bases. Yairo Padilla hit a grand slam, his first Low-A home run, to bring the Cardinals within two at 8-6.

Despite the three home runs, the comeback fell just short.
The Cardinals scored six runs on six hits. Padilla hit a grand slam for four RBI. Mitchell was 3-for-5 with a solo home run. Peña hit a home run. Ryan Weingartner drew two walks.
On the bases, Brayden Smith snagged two bases for 25 steals on the year. Mitchell swiped third base for his 23rd steal. Weingartner stole his 29th base.
On defense, shortstop Dos Santos made a throwing error. Peña nailed a runner at third base from right field.
Palm Beach is 13-10 in the second half and 46-43 overall. They are 1.5 games behind first place in the Florida State League East Division. The Cardinals are off Monday and will stay at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium for a six-game series with the Tampa Tarpons, beginning Tuesday.
Tuesday’s game: vs. Tampa (NYY). Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 PM CT.
FCL Cardinals (off day)
The Florida Complex League Cardinals were off Sunday as they prepared for a road doubleheader with the FCL Marlins on Monday.
The Cardinals enter the new week with their most recent contest a 3-2 win over the FCL Mets on Friday. The team also had an extra day off after Saturday’s doubleheader with the FCL Nationals was canceled due to rain.
The FCL Cardinals are 19-29 on the season.
Monday’s games: at FCL Marlins. Pitching probables have not yet been announced for either game. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 9:00 AM CT. Game two is slated to start shortly after the conclusion of game one.
DSL NL All-Stars 6 at DSL AL All-Stars 7
The National League won the Dominican Summer League All-Star Game on Sunday.
Two players represented the Cardinals on the NL roster, but neither catcher Sebastian Rojas nor pitcher Daniel Gomez appeared in the game.
DSL Cardinals (off day)
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals were off Sunday, as they prepared for a home contest with the DSL NYY Bombers on Monday.
The Cardinals look to continue their momentum following a 5-4 home win over the DSL Marlins on Friday.
The DSL Cardinals are 15-17 on the season.
