Cardinals Minor League Notebook – June 21, 2026

The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 4-1 on Saturday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Peoria RHP Jacob Odle, pitched a career-high six scoreless, no-hit innings with eight strikeouts and collected his second High-A win. Other standouts include Colton Ledbetter, Cameron Nickens, Zach Levenson, Ryan Campos, Jack Gurevitch, Yordalin Peña, Luis Estrella, Roberth Castillo, Michael Cordero, and Beiker Rodríguez.

Memphis Redbirds 3, Nashville Sounds 17

The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds lost a lopsided contest to the Nashville Sounds at AutoZone Park on Saturday.

Pete Hansen made his 13th start for Memphis. The left-hander tossed 3 ⅔ innings and allowed seven runs on nine hits, three walks, and two strikeouts. Hansen took the loss.

Hancel Rincon fired two scoreless innings with a pair of strikeouts in relief of Hansen. Cade Winquest followed with 1 ⅓ shutout frames. Austin Love surrendered four runs on four hits and four walks as he failed to record an out. Skylar Hales yielded six runs across 1 ⅓ frames. Noah Mendlinger made his professional pitching debut and secured the final out of the ninth inning.

Nashville took an early 2-0 lead with a run apiece in the top of the first and third innings. Memphis trimmed the lead in half with a run in the home third.

Colton Ledbetter crushed his fifth home run of the year, a solo shot, to bring the Redbirds within one at 2-1.

The Sounds answered with five runs in the fourth to move ahead 7-1. The Redbirds scored once in the fifth to chip into the gap.

Ledbetter singled and moved to second base on a wild pitch. Jeremy Rivas hit a two-out single to bring Ledbetter home for a 7-2 contest.

The Redbirds narrowed the deficit to four with a run in the home seventh.

Bligh Madris walked and advanced to second base on a Yohel Pozo groundout. Ledbetter singled home Madris to move the contest to a four-run game at 7-3.

Nashville scored 10 runs over the eighth and ninth frames to move the game out of reach. Memphis was unable to answer.

The Redbirds scored three runs on six hits. Ledbetter was 3-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI. Rivas singled and drove in a run. Leo Bernal and Ramon Mendoza each collected a single. The lineup drew just one walk and struck out eight times.

On the bases, Rivas swiped his second bag with the Redbirds this season. Ledbetter was caught stealing second base.

On defense, Joshua Báez nailed a runner at home plate from left field to highlight an errorless showing.

Memphis is 46-28 on the season. They will look to win the series finale on Sunday along with a first half International League West Division title.

Sunday’s game: Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 PM CT.

Springfield Cardinals 5 at Wichita Wind Surge 3

The Double-A Springfield Cardinals edged the Wind Surge in Wichita on Saturday night.

Brandt Thompson started his seventh game in his 10th appearance this season for Springfield. The right-hander threw 3 ⅔ innings and allowed two runs on one hit, four walks, and six strikeouts.

Domenic Picone tossed 1 ⅓ scoreless innings in relief of Thompson. Darlin Saladin with four outs of shutout baseball. Lefty Jack Findlay yielded a run and struck out four over 1 ⅔ innings and was awarded the win. D.J. Carpenter fired a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his third save with Springfield.

Wichita scored twice in the bottom of the second inning to grab a 2-0 lead. Springfield cut the lead in half in the fourth.

Tre Richardson III lined a sharp single. Ryan Campos walked. Campos and Richardson III moved to second base and third base, respectively, on a Dakota Harris groundout. Richardson III scored on a sacrifice fly from Trey Paige to bring the Cardinals within one at 2-1.

The Cardinals tied the game in the sixth. Campos scorched a two-out solo home run, his eighth of the year, to knot the game at two.

The Cardinals took the lead with a pair of runs in the eighth inning. Graysen Tarlow began the frame with a walk and scored from first base on a Travis Honeyman double to give Springfield a 3-2 lead.

Honeyman stole third base. Campos reached on a fielder’s choice, with Honeyman scoring on a throwing error for a 4-2 Cardinals lead.

The Wind Surge moved within a run in the home eighth. Springfield scored an insurance run in the top of the ninth.

With two outs, Zach Levenson hit his sixth home run of 2026, a solo shot, to put the Cardinals ahead 5-3.

The Cardinals scored five runs on six hits. Levenson was 2-for-4 with a home run. Campos walked and hit a home run. Honeyman doubled, scored a run, and notched an RBI. Paige collected an RBI.

On the basepaths, Honeyman stole his 24th bag of the year.

The Cardinals did not commit an error.

Springfield is 30-27 on the season. The Cardinals will look to win the series on Sunday.

Peoria Chiefs 6, Dayton Dragons 0

The High-A Peoria Chiefs blanked the Dayton Dragons at Dozer Park on Sunday.

Jacob Odle started for the Chiefs. The right-hander fired a career-high six scoreless, no-hit innings with four walks and eight strikeouts. Odle collected his second win of the season.

Jason Savacool threw a scoreless seventh inning in relief of Odle. Nolan Sparks tossed a shutout eighth. Christian Worley pitched a scoreless ninth inning to finish the game.

The Chiefs broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth inning. Jack Gurevitch launched his seventh home run of the year, a solo blast, to put the Chiefs in front 1-0.

Peoria extended the lead in a three-run sixth frame.

Anyelo Encarnación led-off the inning with his sixth home run of the season, a solo shot, to double the lead to 2-0.

Gurevitch reached base via catcher’s interference. Jalin Flores hit his fourth triple of the year to plate Gurevitch for a 3-0 Chiefs lead. With two outs, Josh Kross ripped a double to bring Flores home and extend the lead to 4-0.

Peoria added a pair of runs in the seventh.

José Suárez began the inning with a single. Cameron Nickens hit his second Chiefs home run, a two-run round-tripper, to widen the lead to 6-0.

The Chiefs held Dayton to just one hit and a 0-for-4 line with runners in scoring position.

Peoria scored six runs on nine hits. Nickens was 2-for-2, including a home run and two RBI. Gurevitch was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a home run. Flores went 2-for-4, including a triple, a run scored, and an RBI. Encarnación hit a solo home run. Kross doubled and drove in a run.

The Chiefs did not steal a base.

On defense, second baseman Encarnación committed a fielding error.

Peoria is 1-1 in the second half and 33-35 overall. The Chiefs will look to take the series finale on Sunday.

Palm Beach Cardinals 4 at Jupiter Hammerheads 1 (Game one, seven innings)

The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals won game one of Saturday’s scheduled doubleheader in a weather-shortened seven-inning contest. The game was suspended in the fifth inning on Friday and resumed in the top of the fifth inning on Saturday.

Jack Martinez started his 13th game for Palm Beach. The right-hander pitched four innings and allowed one run on three hits, one walk, and four strikeouts.

Justin Millitello tossed 1 ⅔ scoreless, no-hit innings in relief of Martinez and picked up his first win of the year. Rehabbing Victor Santos recorded the last out of the sixth and was awarded his first save, as he works to rejoin the Memphis Redbirds.

Palm Beach opened the scoring in the top of the fourth inning. Ryan Weingartner walked and stole both second and third base. Michael Dattalo walked to put runners at the corners. Matthew Miura lined a double to score Weingartner and put the Cardinals ahead 1-0, with Dattalo to third base.

Jupiter tied the game at one in the home fourth. Palm Beach regained the lead in the sixth.

Dattalo took a lead-off walk and took second base via wild pitch. Yordalin Peña hit his seventh home run of the year, a two-run shot, to put the Cardinals in front 3-1.

Palm Beach added an insurance run in the seventh. Heriberto Caraballo was hit by a pitch and moved to second base on Dattalo’s third walk of the game. Brayden Smith hit a two-out single to bring Caraballo home for a 4-1 Cardinals lead.

The game entered a lighting delay in the bottom of the seventh, with the game being officially called for a 4-1 Palm Beach win after a nearly three-hour delay.

The Cardinals scored four runs on five hits. Peña drove in two runs with a home run. Miura was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Smith singled and collected an RBI. Dattalo drew three walks and scored a run. Weingartner walked, singled, and scored a run.

On the bases, Weingartner stole two bags to increase his season total to 20. Miura swiped his eighth base.

On defense, shortstop Weingartner made a throwing error.

Palm Beach Cardinals at Jupiter Hammerheads (Game two, postponed)

The second game of the doubleheader between Palm Beach and Jupiter was postponed on Saturday due to inclement weather. The game is scheduled to be made up as part of a doubleheader on Sunday.

Palm Beach is 1-0 in the second half and 34-33 overall. The Cardinals will look to win the series on Sunday.

Sunday’s game: at Jupiter. Game one: LHP Cade Crossland (3-2, 3.79) vs. RHP Manuel Genao (3-2, 3.50) 11:00 AM CT.

Game two: Pitching probables have not yet been announced. Game two is slated to begin shortly after game one’s conclusion.

FCL Cardinals (off-day)

The Florida Complex League Cardinals are off on Saturday and Sunday, as they prepare for a road contest with the FCL Astros on Monday.

The Cardinals will look to rebound after a 7-5 loss to the FCL Nationals on Friday.

The FCL Cardinals are 10-22 on the season.

Monday’s game: at FCL Astros. Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 AM CT.

DSL Cardinals 14 at DSL Mets Blue 2

The Dominican Summer League Cardinals routed the DSL Mets Blue in Saturday’s road contest.

Jose Vega started his third game for the Cardinals. The right-hander pitched 3 ⅔ innings and allowed two runs on three hits, five walks, and two strikeouts.

Andey Garrido struck out three across 1 ⅔ scoreless innings in relief of Vega. Beiker Rodríguez fanned three over 2 ⅔ shutout frames and collected his fourth win of 2026.

Jhon Cabrera finished the game with a scoreless ninth.

The Mets Blue struck first with a run in the bottom of the first inning. The Cardinals tied the game in the third.

Jesús Pérez legged out an infield single and stole second base. Pérez took third base via a wild pitch. Héctor Cabrera followed with a walk. Lucas Takahashi grounded into a double play, with Pérez home on the play to tie the game at one.

The Mets Blue regained the lead with a run in the home third. The Cardinals grabbed the lead with three runs in the fourth.

Christopher Vargas lined a lead-off single. Michael Cordero walked. Roberth Castillo scorched a double to bring Vargas and Cordero home and put the Cardinals in front 3-2.

Pérez reached base on a fielding error, with Castillo home on the play for a 4-2 lead.

The Cardinals added a run in the fifth.

Yeferson Portolatin walked and stole second base. Sebastian Rojas drew a free pass. Cordero lined a two-out single to bring Portolatin home and extend the Cardinals lead to 5-2.

The Cardinals erupted for six runs in the sixth frame to pull further ahead.

Takahashi hit an infield single and Portolatin followed with a walk. Rojas blooped a single to load the bases with one out. Vargas drew a bases-loaded walk to force Takahashi home for a 6-2 Cardinals lead. Luis Estrella belted a grand slam, his second career home run, to empty the bases and widen the lead to 10-2.

Cordero reached base on a throwing error. Castillo walked. Castillo and Cordero moved to second and third base, respectively, via a wild pitch. Cabrera walked to load the bags with two away. Cordero scored on a wild pitch for an 11-2 lead, with all other runners moving up a base on the play.

The Cardinals scored twice more in the seventh. Rojas walked, Vargas singled, and Estrella was hit by a pitch to load the bases with no outs. Cordero drew a bases-loaded walk to plate Rojas for a 12-2 Cardinals lead. Vargas touched home plate on a Castillo sacrifice fly for the 13th Cardinals run.

The Cardinals cushioned the lead with a run in the eighth. Cabrera walked and scored on a two-out double from Rojas to stretch the lead to 14-2.

The DSL Cardinals scored 14 runs on 11 hits. Estrella was 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI. Castillo walked, doubled, scored a run, and collected three RBI. Cordero drew three walks, singled, scored twice, and drove in two runs. Rojas was 2-for-4, including two walks, a double, two runs scored, and an RBI. Vargas went 2-for-5 with a walk, three runs scored, and an RBI. Portolatin tripled, walked twice, and scored twice.

On the bases, Pérez stole his fourth bag of the year and was caught stealing second base. Portolatin swiped his fifth base.

On defense, second baseman Portlatin made a throwing error. Pitcher Garrido picked a runner off first base.

The DSL Cardinals are 8-7 on the season. They are off Sunday and will play a home contest with the Mets Blue on Monday.
