stlcard25ParticipantNot a good game at all after the nice game on Tuesday. This team just cannot get any momentum at all, and the wild card is beginning to slip further away as the Dodgers surge.
The horrid home record of barely above .500 is the big culprit so far. They’ve got 36 home games left and I don’t care who it is they’re playing but they need to go at minimum 24-12 in those games to have any shot at the playoffs.
stlcard25ParticipantNot much offense tonight. Weaver has been good, but Rodon has been good and luckier. 1-0 White Sox in the 6th.
stlcard25ParticipantBader must still be banged up, or Matheny really has faith that Dexter is back.

stlcard25ParticipantTo start it off, you mentioned on the Danny Mac podcast yesterday and it’s come up in passing a few times on the board I think…is there any recent scouting thoughts on Delvin Perez and his defense this year? It was mentioned that his error rate is way down. Is this just due to having fewer chances/making a bunch of routine plays or is he making some really good defensive plays/throws that would indicate that this is a legit breakthrough?
I know that it was thought that he could be a plus defensive SS. If he can do that, he would have a lot lower bar with the bat to clear to eventually one day make the big league club.
stlcard25ParticipantKolten Wong’s last month: .303/.373/.530. It seems Mr Wong has turned the corner on his offensive 2018 and may be headed for a good year. The offense could certainly use more bursts like that.
stlcard25ParticipantCards win, 14-2. Now go get em tomorrow and take the series, guys!!
stlcard25ParticipantGrand slam Dexter!! And from the right side!!
11-2 Cards
stlcard25ParticipantPassed ball, walk, wild pitch, walk, walk. Cards up 7-2.
stlcard25ParticipantCards load the bases with no one out in the 6th. Dejong strikes out and the Sox bring in the reliever. Need a run or two here.
stlcard25ParticipantEvery DSL game was postponed today. Guess the game recapppers will have it easy tomorrow. Ha!
stlcard25ParticipantThe Johnson City club is getting clubbed tonight..15-1 in the 8th. Ouch
stlcard25ParticipantThe Cards get one back in the 4th and one so far in the 5th. Dex has a chance to do some damage here…and grounds out. 4-2 Cards at the midway point.
stlcard25ParticipantMikolas coughs up the lead and we’re tied again.
stlcard25ParticipantLet's open the series with a win!

stlcard25ParticipantIf Carpenter had hit in April and early May like he has the last two months he’d have made it. Pham, if he had continued his numbers from early season as well. Wacha and Martinez may have without the injuries. Yadi perhaps as well. Dejong may have had a shot, too.
This really has been a season plagued by very inconsistent performance and injuries.
stlcard25ParticipantThe pitching has really been a let down today. If you had told me the Cards would score 4 runs off Madbum, I’d have taken it happily and said we would have a great shot to win. As is, the Cards will need to score a few to avoid a blowout loss.
stlcard25ParticipantFlaherty hasn’t earned a win since June 11 against San Diego. Since then, he has squared off against Quintana, Guerra, Bieber, Greinke and now Bumgarner. That’s a pretty tough quintet, but it would be nice to see Jack break through and get a W.
stlcard25ParticipantNorris with two ground ball outs and a strikeout for the win!! Excellent work today.
stlcard25ParticipantI don’t like the razor thin margin but hopefully Norris can close it down in the 9th here
July 6, 2018 at 11:43 am in reply to: What is wrong with Dexter Fowler and what should be done? #59352
stlcard25ParticipantIf any of the non-Fowler players was a LH hitter, it would make the issue easier. Unfortunately, if Fowler can’t hit or won’t get along with the team (if that is the case) then he won’t help the balance anyway.
stlcard25ParticipantThe Cards have three good OFers and one that they’re stuck with until they can find a way to resolve it. Tyler will be fine and probably a starter in 2019 at 23/24. I still think that trade will work out well for both teams before all is said and done.
stlcard25ParticipantBc, I’m a bit interested in Francisco Justo, the 12th rounder from Monroe CC. He ended up working during his HS career after his dad was injured and took time in the Dominican before coming back to NY for a year in college. 15+ K/9 his college year. He’s pitched 4 innings at GCL with 4K and 0BB so far. I’ll have my eye on his development going forward.
stlcard25ParticipantI hope Weaver has upped his value in a trade because his ceiling is Leake and floor is MArco Gonzales. We’ve got better in the pipeline. I have more faith in Gant and yet I feel he’s better suited for the pen.
I don’t think Weaver’s ceiling is Leake at all. He throws harder than Leake but if he had Leake’s control (which he did all the way through the minors) he would easily be a #3 type starter. I still hold some hope that Luke will reach that down the road.
stlcard25ParticipantSorry, jager. I went to bed after the first inning last night and probably will do the same tonight so you won’t likely see much of me on the game thread. As for the night before, I suspect it was due to the holiday.
Anyway, good win last night. Cueto wasn’t sharp at all and the Cards pounced. Hopefully Dejong will be back tonight. Although Muñoz has done an admirable job filling in, Paul is the superior player and should provide a boost to the offense in coming back.
Think Fowler gets any starts this series??
