Seems like there should be more activity here with the upcoming Sunday night ESPN game. Maybe posters are down on the Cardinals and aren’t into it like they have been in other years?
Anyway, Phillies are leading the Brewers 6-2 in the 6th so with a win tonight the Cubs would be tied for 1st place. They have a weekend series in Milwaukee next weekend, that could be entertaining.
Anybody have the weather forecast for Chicago tonight? We had over four inches of rain here in SW Indiana last night and this morning. Sure hope this game gets played as I am anxious to see whether or not Wacha can put up another good outing.

Milwaukee blew an 8-1 lead but managed to escape with a 9-8 win at Philadelphia. Must be a bad day for bullpens. Remember the Cubs bullpen almost let us back into the game as well.

I was watching the Yankees and Mariners game last night when Judge hit the bomb into leftfield, almost out of the stadium. Right at the back row or two in LF. The Yankee announcers said something about Statcast wasn’t there to measure that one, but it had to go 500+ feet.

Sure would be nice to ride the momentum of the 9 run 8th inning and the 11-4 win into another win today. Wont be easy against Quintana, looks like he can be filthy at times. Looking forward to the lineup today.

Now, this is about the only time i would ever feel comfortable with Rosenthal in the game. I’m not watching, but i assume Matheny has put him out on the mound?

Rosenthal is a disaster waiting to happen each and every time he takes the hill. As far as I am concerned we trade him for a sack of potatoes and be happy. I am tired of his act. This is the 4th year this crap has been going on with him.

We just HAVE to avoid a sweep in this series. If we get swept, we may as well try and improve the roster for next year.
Pirates just tied Milwaukee 2-2 in the bottom of the 9th. Milwaukee is in a tail spin and the Cubs are hot. By this time next week the Cubs will probably have a 3-4 game lead. The NL Central is history folks.

What do you posters think about the Cubs at this point? Are they about to make their run? I’ve been waiting for this all season from them. They have now won five in a row? I don’t think we can afford another sweep at Wrigley this coming weekend but its starting to look like a definite possibility.
It would sure help if we can steal one from DeGrom and the Mets tonight. Me and Whitey Herdog will be tuned in.

Have you tested the vibe in New York yet regarding Stanton? From looking at his career stats it appears if he can ever play in 150+ games he could hit 40-45 dingers, maybe more. This year he has appeared in 90 of the Marlins 91 games and is on pace for 50+ homeruns.I’d sure like to see him in our lineup. As gscottar says, in a few years and with the new billion dollar TV deal looming, Stanton’s contract might not be all that bad.

The way Fowler catches flyballs it was pretty much inevitable that he would drop one. Nowadays outfielders have to make the “cool” catch instead of the way catching flyballs was taught a generation or two ago.
Same way with SOOOOOO many runners not running to 1stbase, but just sort of jogging once they figure they will be out.
At times baseball is sickening these days.

Lets wait until later in the year until we give DeJong and everyday job. Remember Brian Jordan in 1992? Everybody thought he was great when he was hot early, but he ended up hitting .227.
Besides, in my mind, DeJong is not a TRUE EVERYDAY shortstop.

I respect your opinion so I am wondering what you think the chances are that the Redbirds trade for Stanton? All you usually get on threads like this are opinions.
Anyway, what are the odds, more or less than a 50% chance? I am going to assume about a 10% chance myself.

Inconsistency is our problem. You cant depend on anybody. Cecil coughs it up with some bad pitches. DeJong could have made that play if he would have been an everyday SS.
Cubs are about to go on their first run of the season as they sweep Baltimore. Mets seem to be playing better so we will probably lose 3 of 4 in New York. Then most likely another sweep at the hands of the Cubs.
By late next Sunday night we might very well be in the Sell mode.

High ERA, WHIP not very good, too many walks, too many homeruns, all of this in 2017. Career stats are good but not great. In my mind this is a very questionable move by the Cubs. Guess time will tell how it works out.
Glad the game is over and we can get back to the business of baseball now.
Any chance Miami starts to shed payroll now that the ASG is over with? Stanton to St. Louis would be fine with me.
And I didn’t know the practice of giving home field advantage in the World Series to the league that wins the ASG is now over? When did that stop?

A couple of years ago I would have thought you were crazy if you had said that. Now I totally agree. I just don’t see what good he is doing. Poor defense, low average, that doesn’t cut it. But then again, everybody has a bad year so maybe he can right the ship either in the 2nd half or 2018.
