Joe Niekro was not a HOFer like Phil, but he did tally 221 career wins. Joe had a no-hitter broken up one time in the 9th. Phil did throw a no-hitter, so they narrowly missed out on being a brother combo to both throw no-hitters.
Trivia question: Who is the only brother combo to both throw no-hitters?
Now Cordero uncorks a liner to left plating yet another tally making it 4-0 Bad guys. Can’t give up yet though.
What an era for baseball brothers it was. We had the aforementioned Niekro and Perry brothers. You also had the Aaron bros…..the Ripken brothers and father 3-way connection. I think there was more….the Bells….no I think Gus came well before his son, Buddy, who came well before his son, David.
Let’s hope SD does not have to employ the Mercy Rule, Cardinals2016! We still have hope.
Maybe Pugs went with your Cards connection comment and remembered Gaylord no-hit the redbirds. That brings up a different trivia question, i.e., Gaylord was part of consecutive no-hitters on consecutive days…who was the other pitcher. But no, Jim Perry never threw a no-hitter.

I think you have the Perry brothers mixed up, Euro. I’m almost positive it was Jim who nohit us in SF with Ray Washburn coming right back the next day and returning the favor.
Brothers for our Birds???? How could I forget them!!! The Alou Bros….sweet entry, Carioca!!! With all 3 starting in the outfield for the Giants. Talk about brotherly love!!! They should all 3 should have been with Philadelphia.
Gant has been respectable. 4-2 Pads moving along to the 7th. Looks like no Mercy Rule enactment today, Cardinals2016……much to the dismay of the San Diego faithful in attendance here this afternoon.
