That was an odd looking swing by Crooks. I thought it might dump in front of an outfielder but it carried all the way to the wall for a 2-run double.
June 15, 2026 at 7:31 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #70 thread – Monday, June 15 vs. San Diego Padres #309984Got to love All-Star voting. Wetherholt is the 12th best player in all of baseball by FWAR. He’s the 9th best second baseman in the National League by All Star votes.
June 15, 2026 at 5:11 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #70 thread – Monday, June 15 vs. San Diego Padres #309976I’m pretty certain they will wait to try to trade the veteran relievers at the deadline unless it is apparent they will have no value. I don’t think that’s apparent right now. Both Stanek and Bruihl have had good and bad moments. I think the goal would be to trade them both along with Romero and possibly O’Brien at the deadline. I actually think they may keep May and attempt to extend him. I get the feeling May is really happy here and he serves a real need. If that isn’t true or they don’t think they can come to a salary agreement, then he gets traded too. Still a chance he comes right back in the offseason too.
You actually have 3 parties in play here but one never gets much consideration. You could lower what the players get AND lower what the owners get and then charge the fans less for tickets, streaming services, concessions, and team merchandise.
June 14, 2026 at 3:54 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #69 thread – Sunday, June 14 at Minnesota Twins #309931Not much offense in this one outside of our 9 and 1 hitters. Pretty big hole through the middle of the lineup.
June 14, 2026 at 3:43 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #69 thread – Sunday, June 14 at Minnesota Twins #309925Not a good sweeper from Soriano that went for a double.
June 14, 2026 at 3:41 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #69 thread – Sunday, June 14 at Minnesota Twins #309923This Twins offense has been impressive this series. It may be more because of our bullpen, but overall they’ve taken a lot of good at bats.
June 14, 2026 at 3:25 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #69 thread – Sunday, June 14 at Minnesota Twins #309917When the Cardinals traded Granillo for Soriano, I hated that move. I didn’t know anything about Soriano other than he had one of the lowest FWAR totals last season of all pitchers in baseball. Plus, I always liked Granillo’s bulldog mentality. However, Soriano has been really good in our pen and Granillo has been a relative disaster for Washington.
June 14, 2026 at 3:16 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #69 thread – Sunday, June 14 at Minnesota Twins #30990897 is a lot to comment on Pugs!
I guess 2 are still “prospects” by definition but are now in the Majors (Jordan & Torres – I believe Crooks has officially graduated). So call it 95 others with solid potential.
Not going well for Romero here. Buxton is killing us.
June 14, 2026 at 3:10 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #69 thread – Sunday, June 14 at Minnesota Twins #309904Unrelated , but I just want to point out that I always keep a watch list of prospects who I think may make the Majors and my list is the longest it’s ever been by quite a bit. I count 97 prospects. Typically, it’s around 60-70.

June 14, 2026 at 2:56 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #69 thread – Sunday, June 14 at Minnesota Twins #309897Yeah Albert, she was only bad in the first inning aside from one bad miss later on. Otherwise, she’s been good.
June 14, 2026 at 2:12 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #69 thread – Sunday, June 14 at Minnesota Twins #3098842 of those overturned calls have been pretty bad. That last one was multiple inches high.
June 14, 2026 at 2:08 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #69 thread – Sunday, June 14 at Minnesota Twins #309882We are on pace for maybe 15 overturned calls today! 5 so far here in the bottom of the fourth.
June 14, 2026 at 2:04 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #69 thread – Sunday, June 14 at Minnesota Twins #309881I was a huge Burleson fan 3 years ago. I thought he reminded me of John Kruk with his hitting.
But at the start of last season, I thought he should have been traded due to us having Contreras long term and I hated seeing Burly in the outfield. And while Contreras is really good, I’m glad he finally waived his no trade clause so we can keep Burleson and play him at first.
June 14, 2026 at 2:01 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #69 thread – Sunday, June 14 at Minnesota Twins #309878Burleson hitting some monster homers lately.
June 14, 2026 at 1:59 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #69 thread – Sunday, June 14 at Minnesota Twins #309877I was pretty certain Winn would have had that grounder as well Pugs. That almost cost us. Good defense can be oh so valuable.
June 14, 2026 at 1:31 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #69 thread – Sunday, June 14 at Minnesota Twins #309869Blake Aita gets pulled after 2 outs in the first inning for Peoria. Looks like he was limping some so that may actually be a decent thing (non arm).
June 14, 2026 at 1:18 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #69 thread – Sunday, June 14 at Minnesota Twins #309863Rough first inning for the Cardinals and HP umpire.
June 13, 2026 at 3:59 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #68 thread – Saturday, June 13 at Minnesota Twins #309799With the exception of that last half inning, this one was mostly fun. O’Brien struggles when no one swings.
June 13, 2026 at 3:15 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #68 thread – Saturday, June 13 at Minnesota Twins #309776Someone told Blaze that Stanek was warming up.
June 12, 2026 at 10:30 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #67 thread – Friday, June 12 at Minnesota Twins #309699Someone should figure out what Stanek’s ERA is while Roycroft is in the bullpen with him vs without Roycroft.
June 12, 2026 at 10:27 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #67 thread – Friday, June 12 at Minnesota Twins #309694I typically like Ollie’s bullpen decisions. But tonight I was a bit puzzled when he took Graceffo out after 2/3 of an inning to go with another righty in Stanek. Graceffo had walked 2, but they were competitive walks. It just seemed like an odd move. I would have understood Romero with the lefty coming up, but why Stanek? I’m sure he’ll have to answer that postgame.
June 12, 2026 at 10:23 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #67 thread – Friday, June 12 at Minnesota Twins #309691Those are not cheap home runs Stanek is surrendering. Those have all been mammoth no-doubters.
June 12, 2026 at 10:18 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #67 thread – Friday, June 12 at Minnesota Twins #309686Speaking of home run fests . . . Stanek is in the wrong business tonight.
