Worth nothing the Alcantara/Sierra trade allowed Knizner to move into the Top 10. He was left off on the Top 10 for the rankings posted in November, I believe. Interesting sleeper pick in Ivan Herrera. BA seems very high on Garcia, who wasn’t even a Best of the Rest here. Ben Badler must have gotten good reports.

I specifically asked him about Pirela and he only remembered the name. Obviously, difficult to remember players in the GCL because they only wear their number on their back.

I like Whalen’s upside as an offensive prospect, especially if he develops as a switch-hitter. While he’s exceptionally better hitter from the right-side than left, he has the lanky body to grow into 20 home runs or more and he even has an advanced approach. His defensive profile obviously is a big question mark, but I’m big on him because his plate discipline makes me think he’ll hit for average and he’s already tapping into some raw power at his age which is impressive. In addition, if there’s one hole in the organization right now – it’s quality corner infield prospects.
A name to note for next season is Will Latcham in the lower levels. Seems he has the arsenal to start or be a power arm reliever. Touches 95 and Eric Longenhagen of Fangraphs thinks he has middle relief potential in the big leagues.

Gallen’s likely future role is a No. 5 starter, floor as a middle reliever because he lacks a quality pitch to neutralize lefties. Ceiling: No. 3-4 starter which is best-case.
