Well, the Rookie of the Year award is voted on by the BBWAA, that has some voters who refuse to leave the 20th century and still rely on the old school stats. So metrics may not be the basis for their votes.
I personally believe the metrics are much more fair for every player because it gives value for defense which is just as important as offense, at least in a significant number of eyes. A more well rounded stat like WAR, for instance, takes all aspects of the game into account.
I watched that and was immediately sorry. It made me so sad. I knew it was coming, but you can never totally prepare yourself or check your emotions when it happens.

I despise both the Cubs and the Brewers equally, so one or the other is just as bad.
It is not that it’s within the Division, I don’t mind trading with the Pirates or the Reds. I do not want to help the Brewers in any way at all. Ever.

The return the Tigers got for Skubal was nice but not earth shattering.
The Dodgers have a good farm system but it is not the best. Every analysis I have read is that the Brewers have the best farm system. Some may disagree, I have no personal knowledge.
The Brewers could have given the Tigers a better return than the Dodgers did. They chose not to.
The Dodgers appear to be less hesitant to trade prospects than other teams, including the Brewers. I don’t think this was a money issue, I think it was the Dodgers being less risk averse.
They got Skubal as a rental. Maybe he signs with them and maybe he doesn’t. I don’t believe it is a sure thing.
Also, Skubal has had some elbow issues and had an experimental surgery for it. Will that hold up long term?

The roster moves you are talking about happen in mid-November. The CBA doesn’t expire until 11:59 pm on December 1. A lockout wouldn’t occur until then.
I never believed they would make the playoffs, but this kind of collapse is more than I expected.

Being a lover of good up the middle defense, I am worried about the future of the CF position. Scott can’t hit, and it doesn’t appear Church is much better.
Fermin should not play CF. Nootbaar will be traded and gone and is only a stopgap anyway. CF is not the best position for Joshua Baez in my opinion.
Unless something changes in the near future, we don’t have an elite CF defender like we have had in the past.
One that can passably hit, anyway.
Crooks is catching Leahy tonight, which probably means he is not catching Mathews, who he is way more familiar with than either Pages or Herrera.
If that is the case, then the decisions being made with the catching position make me scratch my head.
I am not questioning her reporting skills. I am just curious about the accuracy of the information she is receiving.
Derrick Goold was the one who reported they were listening to offers on Pages. I am sure they are listening to offers on a lot of people.
I wonder where the Athletic got their info about Herrera, Pages and Crooks?
I’ve seen other sources claim they heard they were open to moving Pages.
Trading Crooks after only playing a few months in the big leagues seems a little reactionary. Of course they could know something I don’t know, but so far we’ve heard nothing but praise about his preparation and skills with the pitchers.
