I hope we get a haul from the Brewers long list of prospects.
August 3, 2026 at 2:48 pm #315074Some are critical of “fantasy” trades where defense is considered less important. Look at this one. To add Arraez and have him move back to second from first, the Phillies are changing their 1B, 2B, 3B and RF in the process. What could go wrong?
Don Mattingly said the plan is for Bryce Harper to play RF, Alec Bohm to play 1B and Bryson Stott to be at 3B. Luis Arraez will be here Tuesday. Mattingly said the Phillies will have to “ease” Harper into right field, and it’s unclear how they will do that.

August 3, 2026 at 2:50 pm #315075I hope it’s Andrew Fischer.

August 3, 2026 at 2:53 pm #315077Per Pipeline, Frias is no. 11 Brewers prospect, Ragsdale is no. 13.
Alexander Frias and Josiah Ragsdale are going to St. Louis in the trade, per source.

August 3, 2026 at 2:54 pm #315078I am unsure how rational it is, but I’d feel much worse if we traded with the Cubs. Though I probably respect the Brewers’ front office more, so worry that they are more likely to fleece us. But in Chaim I trust.
MLB lists Frias as the Brewers’ 11th prospect, Ragsdale 13th. Both OFs.
BA lists Frias as the 100th best prospect in baseball.
August 3, 2026 at 2:57 pm #315080Insofar as an aversion to the Milwaukee Brewers, they were a team that I thoroughly detested in ’11. The only way to somewhat tolerate a team like the ’11 Brewers is to soundly trounce them in the NLCS to make certain they are “home watching the WS on TV”…
August 3, 2026 at 2:59 pm #315083Since some outlets have the Brewers with the number 1 ranked farm system in MLB getting their number 11 and 13 prospects for a couple of mid level rentals does not seem bad to me.
August 3, 2026 at 3:02 pm #315085Got a couple of young outfielders (one very young at 18).
You never know. You pays your money and you takes your chances.
August 3, 2026 at 3:04 pm #315086I wonder if Bloom has another trade coming for Stanek / Nootbar / ?
Couple of hours left to get it done.b
August 3, 2026 at 3:10 pm #315087The Astros are close to acquiring Daulton Varsho from the Blue Jays, sources tell @theathletic.com

August 3, 2026 at 3:19 pm #315088For those who believe in BTV, the news is good:
Today the #Brewers reportedly acquired RHP Dustin May ($5.2M surplus trade value) and LHP JoJo Romero ($1.5M) from the #STLCards in exchange for OFs Alexander Frias ($23.1M) and Josiah Ragsdale ($4.5M).
The deal is rejected by our model as an overpay by Milwaukee.

August 3, 2026 at 3:20 pm #315089I like the return. Ragsdale is putting up some eye-popping numbers but has strikeout issues. Frias though could be the real talent if he can put it all together.
I wonder if Ragsdale spells the end of Zach Levenson?
August 3, 2026 at 3:25 pm #315090Ragsdale is AA and can hit. Looks like he is a CF capable corner with a RF arm. That is a guess based on 2 minutes of research. The other guy is an 18 yr old DOSL guy now in low A I think.
August 3, 2026 at 3:26 pm #315091AA OF of Ragsdale, Peete, and Cho?
August 3, 2026 at 3:30 pm #315092I think so, Gags. Some familiar guys are going to be on the outs.
August 3, 2026 at 3:32 pm #315093I will admit that despite my unhappiness with trading with the Brewers, I am delighted Brewers fans are going ballistic over it.
August 3, 2026 at 3:32 pm #315094From BA:
Alexander Frias joined our Top 100 in July. We slid him off as we added draftees, but he's slated to rejoin the Top 100 in our next update.
CF Josiah Ragsdale is also a massive up-arrow prospect. Wrote about him today for Hot Sheet. 1 HR away from a 20 2B, 20 HR, 30 SB season.

August 3, 2026 at 3:33 pm #315095Ragsdale and Peete provide 2 legit CFs who can potentially hit. We haven’t had that in a while. Too bad they are probably a year or more away.

August 3, 2026 at 3:34 pm #315096So if all goes well Ragsdale could conceivably get some ML at bats towards the end of 2027?
Assuming there is a season.
August 3, 2026 at 3:45 pm #315098Great return. Frias was ranked as the #43 prospect in baseball by Fangraphs mid season update.
Ragsdale and Peete look very similar skillset wise. I’m curious who they play in CF in AA.
August 3, 2026 at 3:46 pm #315099THE CARDINALS ARE THIEVES
Alexander Frias is seen a Top 100 prospect around the league and was ranked as FanGraphs #43 prospect in their post-draft update. He projects to be a solid defender in the outfield with a good bat
Josiah Ragsdale has been one of the best hitters in… https://t.co/JSLTDg0akU

August 3, 2026 at 3:47 pm #315100I can’t really complain about this trade but if I were allowed one minor quibble it is that both new players are LH OF’s, which it seems like we always have a never ending supply of.
August 3, 2026 at 3:47 pm #315101Dustin May was an outstanding signing for Bloom this offseason. He cost the Cardinals around $7 million and we got 2/3 of a season of mostly good results and now get a top 100 prospect for him (assuming Frias for May and Ragsdale for Romero). Well done.
August 3, 2026 at 3:48 pm #315102National prospect watchers are loving the trade. But remember, the Brewers still have their entire Top 10!
I absolutely love this return for the Cardinals. Ragsdale is one of the biggest breakout names in all of MiLB, while Frias looks to be on the fast track to being a T-100 prospect.
Figured Ragsdale would be moved but getting Frias in the same package is an incredible return. https://t.co/5nkWtJCOen
