Many feel that Voit can be a major league starter. If not with the Cardinals, then somewhere else. The announcers have said that.
Would really enjoy a conversation about whom posters think will make it at each level.

Last year, they were in the playoff hunt until the last day of the season. Pitching was key. Predicting a bad team for next year is very silly.
1.) Did Bowman really walk the lead off man?
2.) Did Duke really give up
a 3 run home run on an 0-2 pitch?
3.) Did DeJong really leave the bat on his shoulder on a 3rd strike with the bases loaded?This team is difficult to understand.
Guess those closers like Sutter, Eckersley, Gossage, Fingers, etc. must have pretty decent if they’re in the HOF. Kinda tough to tear their body of work down.
To your point, Euro – is it my imagination, or do the Cardinals try to steal more bases in the late innings of a close ball game?

This is getting to be mind numbing, Forsch. Rosenthal has had his ups and downs. We’ll see how he does in the future.

17 doubles in 288 plate appearances? Wow.Yes, he lost his closer’s job in 2016. He gave up 48 hits and 29 walks in 40 innings. He lost his job after only 2 years as a successful closer. That’s why some of us can’t get too excited about calling him “one of the best closers in Cardinals history”.
Sure, he’s one of the better closers in Cardinals history in his short tenure (2016 excluded – way excluded). No disputing that. But his tenure as a closer is short compared to others. And he lost his job to Oh until Oh had problems. Let’s see how he holds up in the future, both in both health and productivity.
Yes, to each his own. I have a cadre of players whom I think have a chance to make the majors some day. I scan the box scores quickly each day to see how they did. I don’t have the time or interest to follow the other 90% or so of players in our system, unless they start performing really well. It’s just a personal choice, and a rolling list. For instance, I really don’t want to take time to read the State College article in which it says that Zach Kirtley, who’s hitting .203, had a couple of key hits last week. That’s why I don’t read articles covering each minor league team as a whole. It’s just a personal choice. No offense intended to those who make a vocation of it or spend hours on TCN everyday.

That’s true, but remains to be seen. I don’t believe he should be compared to the other top closers yet. And the statement that he has had 3 good closing years out of the last 4 couldn’t go unchallenged.
An 8 game winning streak made things happen. We have the players. They just need to play consistently good baseball.

Good closers do it successfully over a long period of time. Look at Hrabosky, Worrell, Smith, Eckersly, Izzy, etc. Rosenthal has had two good seasons. Just two.
