50 pitches through 5. May working on something special I hope the announcers don’t jinx
June 15, 2026 at 7:45 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #70 thread – Monday, June 15 vs. San Diego Padres #309990Great play by Noot. Not 100% sure he got the best jump off the bat but he recovered to make a nice sliding play

June 15, 2026 at 7:34 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #70 thread – Monday, June 15 vs. San Diego Padres #309987Yeah I don’t think the fan vote honestly matters that much. The fact you can cast your core so early into the year and then vote 5 times a day means it just isn’t a good tracker of players quality but what team has more fans and which ones are consistent at filling out a ballot. I will fill out one just to go through the exercise but I’m not doing it 5x a day for a month or however long it is.
I remember a few years back the Braves guys lead at most positions even when some of those guys weren’t very deserving just because the fans filled out their ballots like crazy.
June 15, 2026 at 7:32 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #70 thread – Monday, June 15 vs. San Diego Padres #309985Boy Burly robbed of a HR by Merrill. Burky has been on fire lately and I thought he had another one there
June 15, 2026 at 7:27 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #70 thread – Monday, June 15 vs. San Diego Padres #309983Make that now 39 pitches through 4 for May
June 15, 2026 at 7:16 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #70 thread – Monday, June 15 vs. San Diego Padres #309982Very efficient start for May so far. 30 pitched through 3 innings
June 15, 2026 at 7:09 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #70 thread – Monday, June 15 vs. San Diego Padres #309981I mentioned I liked the Twins uniforms, but I really dislike these Padres unis. I appreciate that they are rocking a different color scheme other than the most common major sports teams. But I generally really dislike pin stripes and think they could do better without them and some other minor tweaks.

Liberatore and Leahy are just as good at giving up leads as the relievers. Put them in the pen and bring up a couple starters.
Good point Bling. I see 3 RPs I listed above probably close to ready. Then Quinn may be able to take a rotation spot soon and Dobbins is likely better than Leahy. Libby and Leahy to the pen with some of the young guys I listed and then even maybe Mautz or Hansen as a lefty RP type.
June 15, 2026 at 4:01 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #70 thread – Monday, June 15 vs. San Diego Padres #309973Winquest would be a good choice as well. His underlying metrics have been really good. He is striking out a lot of not walking many. Rajcic, Winquest, and Gastelum would be my top choices if healthy and I think they represent potential improvements over what we have now.
I also look forward to Ryan Fernandez being back as he had been pitching much better this year. I thought his rookie year he was destined for a late inning role but RPs are so up and down on performance.
Rainiel had one heck of a week. Great to see and hopefully he has made some adjustments to the higher pitching quality and can keep it up.
June 14, 2026 at 3:23 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #69 thread – Sunday, June 14 at Minnesota Twins #309914Well at least they get out of it tied as he could have been much worse. So frustrating though as this pen was lucky to begin the year and now the luck is really turning
June 14, 2026 at 3:17 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #69 thread – Sunday, June 14 at Minnesota Twins #309910Soriano coming in. He has been okay so probably the best bet to help get out of it without going to O’Brien but he has been struggling lately.

June 14, 2026 at 2:51 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #69 thread – Sunday, June 14 at Minnesota Twins #309896I’ve only been tuned in the last 2 innings but the ump has done fine in my viewing time. She has done better than CB Bucknor
June 14, 2026 at 2:30 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #69 thread – Sunday, June 14 at Minnesota Twins #309888I had a feeling JJ was going to hit a big fly that PA and he pulls one and rips it out of RF
June 14, 2026 at 1:01 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #69 thread – Sunday, June 14 at Minnesota Twins #309858The often used phrase around here is “this team can’t hit” but I think it should be “this team can’t pitch”.
Yep agreed. The hitting for the team is toward the top of MLB. The pitching has vastly overpeformed what is expected based off underlying stats and they still have been in the bottom half of pitching staffs.
June 14, 2026 at 12:59 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #69 thread – Sunday, June 14 at Minnesota Twins #309857JJ at SS is interesting. He should be able to handle the position fine with so much experience there. And his glove at 2B has been very good. His arm isn’t nearly Winn’s though.
June 13, 2026 at 3:49 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #68 thread – Saturday, June 13 at Minnesota Twins #3097933 straight walks. Boy this pen is bad with O’Brien now slumping. Hopefully it will be reworked and guys like Rajic and Gastelum will get some opportunities in July
June 13, 2026 at 3:24 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #68 thread – Saturday, June 13 at Minnesota Twins #309780One thing is for sure the Cards did not trot out a quality series of pitchers today. Libby, Svanson, Stanek, and now Roycroft. Although Svanson surely is better than his results so far this year.
June 13, 2026 at 3:09 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #68 thread – Saturday, June 13 at Minnesota Twins #309771Wooster yeah Liberatore’s calling card as a prospect was his curveball. He does have a nice one, but his arsenal as a whole just doesn’t play well and hitters seem to notice so easily if it is a 4 seamer or a curveball. With Liberatore’s 12-6 curve shape I think a sinker would tunnel better with it and he needs to pitch like an old schooler at the bottom of the zone. His 4 seam was and is still a weak pitch with little ride that can’t miss bats.
June 13, 2026 at 3:06 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #68 thread – Saturday, June 13 at Minnesota Twins #309767Blaze with his first HR
June 13, 2026 at 3:05 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #68 thread – Saturday, June 13 at Minnesota Twins #309766No thank you to Ryne Stanek warming up.
June 13, 2026 at 2:57 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #68 thread – Saturday, June 13 at Minnesota Twins #309763Wow Walker with an absolute monster HR. He hit that ball with authority and it is a good thing that didn’t hit some one in the stands with that velocity.
June 13, 2026 at 2:56 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #68 thread – Saturday, June 13 at Minnesota Twins #309761I saw the first 2 HR Liberatore allowed but missed the 3rd. Another fastball up in the zone that was drilled. Libby just doesn’t have a fastball with enough rise to pitch up there. He probably needs to throw more sinkers down with his curveball focused arsenal
