If they could have had a pitcher instead, they would have. But the rules limit them to 13. So I’m ok with Motter because we need to give everyone else at bats. I do think Mercado would have been a better choice though since he could at least serve as a late game defensive replacement since we don’t have a real center fielder. Motter just is an emergency backup to the backup. But whatever. I really don’t care. It was just really weird how it all went down. I 100% support the move for Walker though. I kept thinking at the beginning of the season that surely they are not going to try to shoehorn him into our crowded outfield, are they? And then every day people tied to the Cards kept saying it was going to happen and I kept hoping it wouldn’t. And now here we are. But he was definitely better offensively than I thought. Conversely, he looked worse at defense than I thought he would. I just hope this experience doesn’t hurt him. I don’t think it will, but you never know.
I see my sacrificial termination worked out a whole lot better than all the positive energy. Next time I’ll just sacrifice a live chicken Pedro Serrano style.
I’d still like to see more consistent play in the outfield for Carlson. And obviously we need to get Arenado going. But the pitching is really coming together lately.
And of course this is the at bat he hits into another double play. Stupid GOB.
Maybe I’ll apply for my job back next season. . .
And a walk brings the tying run to the plate. Big Paul.
The Gods of Baseball have accepted my sacrifice and offered us up some hope with 2 walks and a double. 7-3
Ok. Now I’ve lost hope. You can all go back to bashing whom ever you want.
Down 7-2. This season sucks. Something just isn’t right with our team. Someone needs to be fired. Tonight, I’m taking one for the team. Sorry to be such a poor leader.
I’ll watch this one out til the end while you draw up the paperwork.
It looked like Tyler could have caught that fly ball and had Wilson just leaned forward a bit he would have had him at the plate. Again, disappointing.
Sigh. 2 on and no outs and we pop out and hit into another double play. 1 more chance in the 9th. Come on boys. Figure this curse out.
Only a single this time for Big Paul.
On the plus side, Goldie is running an OPS over 3.000 tonight
It ain’t over yet ZTR. It’s just 3 runs. Although I will admit things looked a whole lot better 4 innings ago.
Thompson seems to be struggling with command.
Well that was bad. 2 run homer for Wilmer Flores. He’s generally been a Cardinal killer.
Liner to the pitcher for a double play. Can we get anymore unlucky? Goldy will now be up next inning for the 4th time with the bases empty.
Yuck
Lars needs to atone here
Did his job
Donovan needs to set the table here.
There you go!
Well . . . Come on Zack!
Hicks was good. 1 2/3. 4 K’s. 2 singles. 1 wild pitch. 1 unearned run (assuming Thompson holds the runner on first from scoring).
ZTR – Euro is firing me tonight if we don’t win. Sacrificial lamb. Of course we’re going to win so I’m not sweating it.
Ugh. Contreras caught stealing. Odd count and situation to be running.
Hicks is going to throw a few wild pitches. But that error was costly. Down 3-2.
Yeah Euro, I thought he’d be decent too. Maybe not an inning eater, but 5 or 6 with 2 runs allowed on average. His stuff can look really good a lot of the time. I just think he needs to be more aggressive with strikes.
