I have always viewed Hence as a future closer. The emergence of Mathews makes thar even more likely.
Cornwell is a lefty. He likely gets a shot somewhere and bounces around forever
That honor for the Cards goes to 12th rounder Ian Petrutz with a 1.100 OPS (despite zero HR). Just a small sample size or did the Cards find a hidden gem? .441 babip says luck. 9 waks against 3 k’s in 37 abs days there may be something there. I noticed mlb pipeline ignored him in favor of others from the 2024:draft class.
I screwed up with my 90 wiin prediction as I was thinking that was 9 games over .500 not 18 games over .500. Now I think 9 games over .500 is a long shot.
Maybe I missed it but has Gallegos signed with anyone?
Yes, Rodriguez is putting up video game numbers and the most amazing part is doing it at age 17. The cards had a 1B several years back who put up ungodly numbers (don’t remember his name) but he ewas 21 years old (maybe older) and he was in his 2cnd or 3rd dsl season.
I like the idea of the 3b move for Rodriguez
I would love to have O’Campo back in the organization. I had some email exchanges with him back in the day and he couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful
August 14, 2024 at 9:06 am in reply to: Burleson is the current Cardinals offensive leader in these four categories #264197Maybe people focused on Burleson since you called him out by name in your post title!
I would like to see them pick up Gibson and find someway to get rid of Micklelos. May not be easy as Micklelos has a no trade and he came to Stl because he is from the Jupiter area. But assuming he wanted a fresh start we could assume about 7 million of his contract and pick up Gibson’s option and be revenue neutral. We might have to throw in a prospect for someone to assume that much salary.
Another possibility is that we pick up Gibson’s option and flip him for a minor leaguer
Mudville, you think Goldschmitt will be back?
Kiiridge and Middleton will become FA’s.
Will either be retained? A price issue that is hard to determine. Mo likes his veteran relievers so my guess is that of them or someone else will be signed somewhere in the 5 million rangeMiddleton is a team option which will be declined. If he is brought back it will probably be at a lower price that he cam make the difference in incentives
Interesting line score in the Palm Beach game today. Palm Beach scored 10 runs on 4 hits while Dunedin scored 4 runs on 14 hits.
Look for Rotundo to pick up his power numbers at Hammond’s field!
Good one bling!
July 31, 2024 at 3:34 pm in reply to: StL 2024 Game #109 thread – Wednesday, July 31 vs. Rangers #262477Can McGreevy have long term success without a major league fastball. Looks like nearly 90% sliders, sinkers, and changeups. Worked well for one game but can that be successful long term?
Mo did some good things but replacing Gallegos with Armstrong wasn’t one of them. Made our bullpen worse and cost us money. Carlson may not have improved if sent down or he might have
Rodriguez, catcher at the dsl cards should probably be in PB as well. Only 17 but putting up video game numbers in the dsl
Gallegos had pitched well (era under 3.00) since coming off the dl. If they were trying to save money you wouldn’t dfa a guy without a roster crunch. It lowers any trade value. I think it was a pure baseball decision and a bad one
#1 overall pick Bazzana has started his career at high A (Peoria equivelente)
I would prefer Contrerus in left and Burly as DH.
I look at Dutka as a high school player coming off of TJ surgery since he pitched so little in college. Might be a little stronger than most HS pitchers. If he recovers could be a steal but who knows how his recovery will go
Mathews’ stats indicate he may be getting tired. Time to shut him down?
Few people realize how good Gallegos has been since coming off the Dl.
I consider pallante our #3 starter behing Gray and Gibso with Gibson looking over his shoulder
To bolster Shady’s argument Jacob Wilson just became the 4th hitter from the 2023 draft to be called up. Of course this is 4 months into the season already.
Shady – you don’t think Walker improves enough to be in your 2025 lineup?
Burly hitting well and would be satisfied with that from a late first round pick . But a top 10 pick needs to be superstar with superstar numbers.
The fact Burly is leading the team in several offensive categories says more about the rest of the team than about Burly. Burly wasn’t even an all star selection or in serious discussion to be one
Fermin with a couple of hits tonight. Going in to today’s game he was hitting .130 with an OPS of .390 in his last 30 AAA games. Even with that he had an OPS of over 1.000 for the season
