Jumping back to Mendoza, would he be a candidate to send to the AFL to showcase to another team and boost any trade value? Doesn’t look like he has much of a future with the Cards since he is blocked by several players!

As far as I am concerned, all it means is that marginal players may get pushed off the back end. It is not as if every minor league roster has or will have 28-30 future MLB players each.

P.S. I find this suggestion especially odd coming from someone who doesn’t seem to think much of the current farm system because they haven’t won any MLB games yet.

As of now, Cho and Je Baez the only ones protected if there were a Rule 5 draft? Clemente is an interesting name too. Relievers are the easiest to keep on your roster all year.
