Jumping back to Mendoza, would he be a candidate to send to the AFL to showcase to another team and boost any trade value? Doesn’t look like he has much of a future with the Cards since he is blocked by several players!

As far as I am concerned, all it means is that marginal players may get pushed off the back end. It is not as if every minor league roster has or will have 28-30 future MLB players each.
P.S. I find this suggestion especially odd coming from someone who doesn’t seem to think much of the current farm system because they haven’t won any MLB games yet.
