When there is a labor agreement, players like Burleson, Walker, and Winn should be considered for an extension.

I think Burly will get extended. The other two will probably have to wait another year.

I don’t understand why they extended Wetherholt when they did. At least wait until later in the season. So I feel like it is not possible to predict. Winn is looking to me like he will be here until he gets too expensive rather than getting extended. Burly maybe in that bucket as well, since generating 1B/DH guys seems to be our specialty. Younger/cheaper is likely to come along. Walker will have to even out his offensive production and prove that it is not going to even out at the low end of his range. I think Our Bill is not keen on ending up eating contract which is bound to happen when you start handing them out.

They overpaid for Wetherholt. They paid his FA years as a top 3-5 2b. Too much when you are giving him early security

If Wetherholt ends up moving to SS and does pretty well there, then the contract will look better. We will get an idea of where his offense will settle this year. Last year he had the hot start, but if you pull his monthly split, much of the year was not especially special. You can’t tell by someone’s first season.

The Weatherholt contract is not expensive in today’s market. One day we will think it a very good contract
