Okay, let’s recap and wind up round #9 –

PugsleyAddams – WinnSo by a hair, our #9 prospect is the high ceiling pitcher/position player Masyn Winn, out of Kingswood High in Houston. As a young 18 year old, he’s hit 98mph on the gun as a pitcher and at the plate has had an exit velocity of 95mph.
As PugleyAdams says, let’s “Win with Winn!”
The voting is now open for prospect #10, which will round out our top 10.

#10 Woodford. Sorry I missed #9…. down in the weather day for me. Better today. Rondon almost made #10 a tie.
I really was hoping for a shot to vote for Winn. He’s an exciting young player, for sure.
My #10 is Angel Rondon. Higher floor and much higher ceiling both than Woodford, IMO.
#10 Woodford
He isn’t flashy but he is steady. I like comps and my comp for him is Lance Lynn. It may seem like a reach but I think he has that potential. He needs to learn to work faster though. I hope that comes with more confidence.
Edmundo Sosa @ #10. Sosa is a shortstop although they’ve recently been giving him reps at 2B and 3B. There has never been doubt about his defense. There have been questions about his offense, but he hit 17 HR’s and OPS’d .801 at Memphis in 2019. He was having a really good spring in 2020 before everything got shut down. He doesn’t have that high ceiling of a Tre Fletcher or John Torres or Tink Hence or an Angel Rondon, and others. But he’s on the 40 man roster, and if he wasn’t, I think he’d be taken in the Rule 5 draft, never to be seen again in a Cardinal uniform. If Sosa has a good spring in 2021, he’s almost guaranteed to come north with the team unless MO finds a Wieters-type veteran somewhere that he likes. Sosa gets a little love around here, but he’s never gotten it from the organization for some reason.
10- Rondon. I am hoping to see Rondon next minor league season, if there is one. Lots of movement on his pitches, and a pretty lively fastball. Surprising he isn’t a top 100 prospect. And our esteemed Uncle Denny made a considerable argument last year that he could be.
I just don’t get any excitement over Woodford. No heavy fastball and no swing and miss pitch. If I was him, I would try and work on throwing a forkball or splitter.A big ol’ muscular lug who can circle the bases in 15.5 seconds. Think about that as you envision yourself circling the bases while counting to 15 1/2. I don’t know about you guys, but I was huffing and puffing it between 1st & 2nd base at the 15.5 second mark. This 5 tool player is only 19 years old and just could be the real eventual center field mainstay for the St. Louis Cardinals. 30 homers – 30 base thefts anyone? I’m with Flood21……Trejyn Malik Fletcher.
I didn’t expect much love for Sosa. Not sure why. He could be our starting shortstop, or second baseman, by the end of the 2021 season if Carpenter continues to humiliate himself at the plate, and if Montero just isn’t ready, and if MO doesn’t hire some mediocre veteran to back up third base. Honestly, he could be, IMHO.
I’m glad I took this opportunity to speak my piece on Edmundo Sosa. I’m not going to waste any more votes on him for the time being. There’s no sense in trying to whistle in the wind.
“Underappreciated” is right, gentlemen. Edmundo is 22nd on my board. I love all of our Cardinals, so I never intend to disrespect any of our boys…..just the way I see it.
I’ll take Rondon at 10. He’s pretty close to a finished product I think. Seems like a reliable innings eater that can slot in at the back of the rotation and give you quality innings, but without much to get excited about. He’s clearly a step behind the pitchers in front of him as far as ceiling goes and I think he’s kind of that second tier of high floor, low ceiling type of pitchers in the system.
OKay, the final results are in for #10, to round out our top 10.

Well I’m on now so I’ll open up with #11 Woodford. The way the world is turning… he might be in the Card’s rotation on opening day.
Who the hell knows…. I’m praying to the baseball gods that ’21 will be a lot better than this disastrous year…. and on every count. I’m starting to lose it.
Brian would have you believe that I lost it long ago Ha ha.
Will there be a point where we go by more than one? There are guys I’d like to vote for that I will probably miss because I liked someone else more at the position they were voted (Winn, for one. No doubt there will be others).
Put me down for Trejyn Fletcher at #11. I also like Malcom Nunez here, but both guys are far away and I think Fletcher has the highest ceiling in our system. If everything works out for him, he’s a lot like Ronald Acuña but with better CF chops.
I will go for Woodford at #11.
I agree that it might be time to vote in groups of five from this point forward. I think that is the way we did it last year. I don’t recall how the votes were tallied. It was probably some kind of weighted system.
This would be a good time to start since we have completed the top 10.

Yeah, Flood21 didn’t exactly have a banner year of posting, NyQuist. But with The Vid raising havoc all year, I think most of us were off our game to some degree. I think Flood21 is proving he’s back on track with his choice of Tre Fletcher here in our early rounds. I look for big big things out of both Flood21 and Tre Fletcher over the coming year. I tip my cap here in Round 11 to the esteemed Nyquist, Flood21 and Trejyn Malik Fletcher.
#11 Trejyn Fletcher. I’ve gone back and forth between Fletcher, Malcom Nunez, and Jhon Torres here. Ultimately Trejyn wins out due to athleticism and ceiling over a better hit tool at the moment. Torres and Nunez both have the better hit tool currently and probably will over the course of the career, but Fletcher to me can bring a lot more to the table. Coming from a cold weather state he has a lot of strides to make, but he is over-flowing with ability. This ranking is based off a belief that he will develop into an average hitter that can tap into better than average power and still play a solid to above average CF. That’s a lot of projection, but that is worth a lot. I took Woodford out of my spreadsheet due to not being ranked on so many sites, but overall he’d slot in around 14 on my list.
