Several have said that they would like to continue the tradition of posters voting for the Top 50 prospects this off season.
Brian has approved. I’ve never done the vote counting before, but will try. If anyone else would like to help, please jump in.

(Carlson and Cabrera no longer qualify).

    1. Matthew Liberatore. The glowing reports after Springfield camp won me over. It sounds like he picked up a little velocity and really pitched well to impress the Cardinals brass. I’m a believer that “Libby” may be a special arm for the Cards for a long time.

Gorman-He showed much improved plate discipline in spring training and against AA-AAA pitchers. Would have probably reached Springfield and should split 2021 between Springfield and Memphis.

This will be a hard year for voting. Without having stats or competition to judge improvement, it is hard to change a previous listing.

I will have to say Nolan Gorman as #1. I know reports out of Springfield is that Liberatore was impressive. However, Gorman also was impressive in Springfield this summer.

Liberatore #1. He has to be if we gave up Arozarena for him 🙂

I’ll go with Liberatore although I gave Herrera a lot of thought based on reports of his offense and his improving defense, and his overall drive.

Gorman beats out Liberatore by a nose at the wire. He has an open spot to fill and the Cards are already penciling him in there as are many Card fans.

    2. Liberatore. While Gorman will be good, like an infield version of Holliday, Libby is gonna be our next Waino. I predict he wins 150 games in Cardinal red and turns Arozarena into the JD Drew of his deal (who, if you recall, had an amazing year after we traded him for Waino).

Since “Libby” rhymes with “Gibby” and “Liberatore” rhymes with another old tyme favorite of mine, Wladziu Valentino Liberace, how could I not tab Matthew Joseph Liberatore as Top Prospect #2 of the St. Louis Cardinals?

Hey Cranny, you’ll do just fine as our top dog on this thread. If you have any questions, feel free to ask Carioca. Back in ……I think it was 2007, your’s truly manned our Top 50 Prospect thread. Any of you fellow old timers remember “The Sheriff”?

Brilliant logic, Pugs. I’ll go with Liberatore at 2, also.

    * Mudville & Nigel T……you two guys crack me up!

I’ll get the ball rolling here in Round 3 with Ivan Aaron Herrera. I can’t wait until this guy is ready. At age 20, I’ll have to be patient. Contact hitter who I think will end up whacking you 15-20 dingers. He’ll never be Yadi defensively……but then who will? Just in name only, you have “Ivan” for ex-Rangers catching great, Ivan Rodriguez Torres aka “Pudge”. “Aaron” for Braves superstar, Henry Aaron. And “Herrera” for “Herr” (Tommy Herr) and “era”. Now that’s a baseball player’s name if I ever heard one.
