cardsfan64ParticipantKind of an odd move from the transaction page:
05/05/26 – SS Miguel Villarroel assigned to Memphis Redbirds from Peoria Chiefs.
I wonder why they didn’t move Rivas up?
May 5, 2026 at 10:48 am #306681
cardsfan64ParticipantHere is the full list:
INF Miguel Villarroel has been transferred from Peoria (A+) to Memphis (AAA).
RHP Jason Savacool has been transferred from Memphis to Peoria.
RHP Hunter Kublick has been transferred from the FCL to Palm Beach (A).
RHP Anthony Watts has been transferred from Palm Beach to the…

cardsfan64ParticipantThe part cut off reads:
RHP Anthony Watts has been transferred from Palm Beach to the FCL.
RHP Bruno López (A+) has been transferred from the 7-day IL to the 60-day IL.

Perhaps it is another short-term need. Maybe a fill in until Saggese reports?
It sure seems like Memphis needs pitching more than another infielder, especially one with no Double-A experience. Curious indeed.
May 5, 2026 at 3:47 pm #306697Aha. Here is the answer. Urias has an elbow injury and is being placed on the IL. Saggese returns to StL. So Memphis was one infielder short.
Right elbow lateral epicondylitis looks a lot like tennis elbow.

May 5, 2026 at 10:06 pm #306730I actually had not seen this before my comments about Blaze getting Urias’s playing time. I would have preferred him over another Saggasse opportunity.
May 5, 2026 at 10:22 pm #306732According to this IG account belonging to Alfredo Harp Academy out of Mexico, the Cardinals have signed 17-year old RHP Jose Miguel Vega. The contract was signed in the Dominican Republic.

cardsfan64ParticipantHere is further confirmation of this signing. Nothing from the Cardinals yet…
The Cardinals have signed Mexican RHP Miguel Vega (17) out of the Alfredo Harp Academy.
Vega made his pro debut last year at the age of 16 for Diablos Rojos of LMB pitching 0.2 innings giving up a run on one hit, and a walk, inducing a double play.
He features a sinker,… pic.twitter.com/sXAGcKIBkg

May 6, 2026 at 9:48 pm #306789Hi Brian,
I noticed your Total Player count is off by one. Should be 241. You missed adding to the Total on 4/27 when Luis Peralta was claimed off waivers from Colorado.
Just helping out,
Larry Cardinal
May 7, 2026 at 6:23 am #306793Thank you for the correction, Larry. It has been made.
May 8, 2026 at 10:54 am #306860I think Gastelum and Rajcic could help our bullpen. They both have had strong starts for Memphis. Also, I’d like to see Watson promoted to Memphis.
May 8, 2026 at 11:14 am #306861I think Gastelum and Rajcic could help our bullpen
They are probably in no hurry to make 40 man roster moves, especially since he team is winning.
May 8, 2026 at 11:22 am #306862It’s only a matter of time before the bullpen costs us games. How do we have a winning record with only 3 reliable relievers? Having Fernandez and Roycroft as depth isn’t saying a lot.
The starting pitching, with the exception of Mcgreeevy and Liberatore, hasn’t been great so far either.
May 8, 2026 at 11:30 am #306863With Gastelum i can accept that a month in AAA is not enough. I could see bringing Rajcic up when a need arises.
May 8, 2026 at 11:30 am #306864Rajcic I could see. He has plenty of AAA experience and his conversion to the pen and switch from slider to sweeper has done wonders for him. He could certainly replace Shuster on the mlb and 40-man roster. However, I’m not confident his MLB results would be better than pedestrian and thus far Shuster has been fine. Therefore, I’m not sure we’re gaining much.
No way on Gastellum. He has a month of AAA experience and has had quite a few rocky innings there. Give him more time.

cardsfan64ParticipantBrian, did Liam Best get activated from the IL and I missed it? I didn’t notice he had been on it until I was looking at his player page and noticed he was listed as injured and found this:
04/01/26 – Palm Beach Cardinals placed RHP Liam Best on the 7-day injured list.
May 8, 2026 at 2:20 pm #306875Curious, isn’t it? As far as I can tell, Best was never on the IL. He appeared in eight games in relief for Palm Beach during April.
Our MiLB friends seem to have made an error. Either that, or Best has been getting credit for someone else’s results! 😉

cardsfan64ParticipantLol! I guess they read this forum!
05/09/26 – Palm Beach Cardinals activated RHP Liam Best from the 7-day injured list.
May 10, 2026 at 8:33 am #307048That is not unlikely.
May 10, 2026 at 8:57 am #307051Suits need time in the minors too I guess.
May 10, 2026 at 9:27 am #307058My guess is the khakis told the interns.
May 11, 2026 at 9:26 am #307139Unconfirmed rumors that Rainiel Rodriguez is being promoted to Springfield.
May 11, 2026 at 1:22 pm #3071441982 willie
ParticipantSmart to get him up to AA quick. If he continues to keep performing as well there, i think AAA by start of next season is very possible. Those catchers above bim might ought to start worrying unless his catching skills dont keep pace. They might try to move him to another position but i wouldnt mess around too much with him.
May 11, 2026 at 4:17 pm #307149To backfill Rodriguez (now confirmed), the Cards promoted Jack Gurevitch from Palm Beach.
