Not confirmed by me, but this source is accurate as far a I know.
The St. Louis Cardinals are promoting SHP Jurrangelo Cijntje to Memphis (Triple-A).
Cijntje had a 5.04 ERA along with 100 strikeouts in 80.1 innings for the Springfield Cardinals.#STLCards

ParticipantNpt sure those numbers scream promotion.
July 12, 2026 at 7:45 pm #312910The Texas League is a very hitter favored league and Cjintje’s ERA and FIP as bad as they look were league average.
There will likely be a flurry of promotions the next 2 or so weeks as the draft guys sign and people need to be moved up to make room on the lower levels. I assume there will be releases as well since the domestic minors can only have 165 guys at once.
July 12, 2026 at 8:08 pm #312911Three of his last four starts were very strong – 18 IP (6 IP each) averaging a 1.50 ERA with 23 Ks in total. The one clinker in there was when he faced the same team a second time in the same series.

ParticipantI was figuring the draft may have had some bearing on it. I know he has potential though.
July 12, 2026 at 11:00 pm #312932Do we think he will slide into the Memphis rotation or go to the pen?
I agree they need to filter some guys up to clear space below. Ready or not.
July 13, 2026 at 5:26 am #312937He will start.
July 13, 2026 at 8:48 am #312950Just as did LHR Jared Shuster (three times) before him, #stlcards LHS Bruce Zimmermann cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Memphis. pic.twitter.com/KUDDfGI4s7

stlcard25ParticipantCijntje will be ok in Memphis after some adjustment. They are probably going to move May in the next month, with (presumably) Mathews as backfill, so you would think Cijntje is the filler for that point. Bloom’s team has been fairly aggressive with prospects after being known for slow playing prospects during his time in Boston. It’s interesting.
July 13, 2026 at 10:14 am #312964I agree the second half will be interesting. Maybe ol’ Abner will wave his fungo bat and the team will repeat its first month success.
July 13, 2026 at 10:29 am #312968I wonder what the Memphis rotation will be now. You have 7 potential starters in Mathews, Zimmerman, Cijntje, Dobbins, Molina, Thompson, Mautz, and Hansen. I guess Thompson could be sent down, and/or Zimmerman moved to the bullpen.ir they possibly may continue a 6 man rotation. And does this mean another promotion from Peoria to Springfield.
