Good to see Church get a shot. He’s a lot like VSII with a little better hit tool and a little less power and while fast, nowhere near the speed burner. We should see good defense and hopefully more consistent hits.
August 17, 2025 at 1:07 pm #290719Well now, it’s time to find out what he can do at the major league level. He certainly deserves this call up based on his numbers alone. I’m looking forward to seeing how his arm plays. Those were some impressive accolades regarding his arm from the pundits at BA. Now if they can only find a way to give Koperniak the chance he deserves.
August 17, 2025 at 2:18 pm #290726Really nice to see Church get a shot. He has done everything right in the opportunities he has had and deserves a chance to prove himself. Hoping to see him get plenty of CF starts to see if he can earn his way to the starting 26 CF job
August 17, 2025 at 4:46 pm #290758The Cardinals released Tanner Jacobsen and Brayden Jobert today. I kind of liked Jobert. While he never made my Top 50 list, at times I considered putting him in there at the end. He just seemed like a guy that would take a while to develop, but would eventually get there. Although his swing was always too long for my liking.
August 20, 2025 at 8:57 pm #291017RHS Frank Elissalt to Peo 7-day IL.
That didn’t take long.

Well they’re both plenty young. Now they can go out and get a real job. If they like manual labor, they may one day find themselves monitoring and managing AI workers.

August 27, 2025 at 1:03 pm #291418King back to the IL. Instead of oblique, this time they are calling it “mid-back strain”. Granillo returns.

stlcard25ParticipantLooks like Chen Wei Lin got moved up and has a shot to develop with Springfield’s staff. Excited to see what they can do with him as he’s still raw, but he’s got some tools to work with.
August 27, 2025 at 5:54 pm #291429I don’t understand why Lin got promoted, his results haven’t been that good this year. For his career path it’s a good thing. Yet Mautz and Henderson stay put. I guess the brass wants Springfield TO WIN a title. But I one of them should get promoted to AAA.
August 27, 2025 at 6:07 pm #291430When I wrote about it, I detailed multiple advantages. Springfield has a longer season, it gives Lin more time to ramp up after missing July and maybe prep for the AFL and Springfield has an open rotation spot with Thompson on the IL.
IMO, the other Springfield pitchers are a separate matter.
August 27, 2025 at 7:15 pm #291437Minor league players and rosters may not be managed in the ways we are used to. New sheriff.
August 28, 2025 at 11:21 pm #291516Sources: The St. Louis Cardinals are calling up Cuban infielder Cesar Prieto.
Prieto, 26, signed with the Orioles in 2022 after leaving Team Cuba’s camp in West Palm Beach, FL, in May 2021.
He’s hit .293 with 44 HR in four Minor League seasons, a true story of perseverance. pic.twitter.com/vbKDMsAbLV

September 1, 2025 at 12:27 pm #291685#STLCards RHP Riley O’Brien underwent an MRI on his sore right shoulder this morning and is shut down for the time being until a course of action is set. This has been a breakout season for O’Brien, who has been counted on in high-leverage spots and in closing roles.

September 1, 2025 at 12:28 pm #291686#STLCards 3B Nolan Arenado (shoulder strain) will be in St. Louis on Wednesday and he will be examined by team doctors on Thursday, manager Oli Marmol said. If cleared, he will work out with the team in the pregame on Thursday and then possibly go out on a rehab assignment.

September 1, 2025 at 12:29 pm #291687#STLCards All-Star Brendan Donovan (foot/groin soreness) went through a full workout today with fielding, running and hitting and will do the same on Tuesday to monitor his soreness, manager Oli Marmol said. He then could go out on a rehab assignment.

September 1, 2025 at 4:04 pm #291700The Matrix right now shows Palm Beach at 31+3, but I believe it should be 30+3 with Charles Harrison off the IL and Mejia on the Development List, correct?
-JoeSeptember 2, 2025 at 6:08 am #291708Yes, that is correct. They can’t have 31 active players though they overlap for a day or two sometimes and I forgot about correcting this one. Thank you for the reminder.
September 5, 2025 at 3:22 pm #291941The #STLCards activated catcher Yohel Pozo from the seven-day Concussion List.
INF Cesar Prieto was optioned to Memphis ( AAA), per the club.
