Another Red Sox player. Chaim Bloom must be involved.

Interesting. He doesn’t have any options left so someone will need to get sent down. And he’s kind of bad.

He will be a cheap audition guy. He has another arb year if he proves himself these last 7 weeks.

Fernandez or Granillo would be the obvi choices.

John King is on the DFA, I mean on the IL too. Let it go Mo.

They do need someone to cover the Mikolas, these so called short starts by Liberatore and whenever a starter can only go 5 innings. King’s only redeeming value is that he mops up the trash our starters leave him and that he’s left handed.

My guess is that the lefty they just picked up will be called up as well. Going into the Cubs series with one lefty in the pen is foolish. We are lucky we got away with it in the Dodgers series.

I’m sure Bloom has contacts in the Boston org, but Alcala has only been in that organization less than two months. I assume we like him because he has a little swing and miss. Over a K an inning.

It is sort of like a Riley O’Brien play, misses bats but walks to many and gets hit around some. He can’t go down to work things out in the minors though.

Relievers BB% can be elevated due to late and close game situations starters don’t often encounter. We don’t IBB everyone, but will pitch around a star to get a better matchup (3 batter rule).
Sort by BB% and all our best relievers are above lg avg. All. O’Brien’s BB% is comparable to Jojo, which is far from reason to demote.

True, but BB% can also be elevated because they stink. We will have to wait and see. Anyway, I was referring to what O’Brien looked like when we acquired him. Similar to this new guy. If we can find and fix struggling swing and miss guys, it is cheap help for the BP. Costs nothing to try.

A .587 ops allowed doesn’t stink anymore. That 2nd best on the club. That’s also what the runways are for. Find out who to cull. Pages is at .579 so…. Lol.

Any word as the move for Alcala being placed on the roster? Perhaps two maybe.

Alcala will replace Graceffo. Who will likely return in 10 days when Fernandez or Granillo implodes a couple times in a blowout or are used for more than 2 innings.

Every time I see this new guy’s name I think of the Genesis song.

The remaining 40-man candidates to be called up are Roycroft and Veneziano.

P.S. I think you are selling Granillo short. His ERA is 4.85, which is better than Graceffo, Roycroft, Munoz and King. On the other hand, Fernandez’ is 10.38.

Graceffo could at least get lefties out. Granillo has a SLG allowed vs both L and R of over .500, which needs reinged in.

Too bad about Phil Collins. I remember hearing back in the day that his song ‘Something in the Air Tonight’ was the most requested and played song in St. Louis when it was first released. It was a Phil Collins song. No Genesis yet at that time.

I think it was the opposite order. Didn’t his solo success come after Genesis?

Brian, that is correct. Collins was in Genesis before his solo success.

Yes, Phil Collins was the drummer with Genesis way back to when they started playing in the early 70’s. Peter Gabriel, their very accomplished lead singer, left the group to go solo in the late 70’s. The group auditioned several lead singer candidates, but none was going to fit the bill, so Genesis was going to call it quits……until their drummer(Phil Collins) said let me give it a try. I don’t think anyone initially took Phil seriously. I believe their first effort with Collins singing was the album “A Trick Of the Tail”. It’s absolutely beautiful music. Your finest orchestras in the world certainly must marvel at some of the instrumentals……and yeah Phil Collins’ voice was amazing in it too. Do yourself a favor and listen to this album in it’s entirety.
