So 3 reliever spots to fill now with 4 40 man roster spots available. Andre Granillo is an easy choice for 1 of the 3. The other 2 I am unsure. They may add someone to the 40 man.
Ryan Fernandez seems like a viable choice. Roycroft and Munoz have both been on the shuttle bus, but I think I would rather add someone else to the 40 man like one of the 30+ year old AAA guys.
July 31, 2025 at 9:40 pm #289187Is Munoz on the 26 man roster? He is not my favorite. Maybe add Taylor. I’d like to see him start.
July 31, 2025 at 9:42 pm #289188I think it’s time to end the Plesac experiment. And call up Henderson in his place.
July 31, 2025 at 9:52 pm #289189IMO, Roycroft and Munoz are subpar.
July 31, 2025 at 9:53 pm #289190Love to AAA I hope.
July 31, 2025 at 10:00 pm #289191Yeah Munoz and Roycroft are DFA candidates this offseason to me. I think you may be right it is Curtis Taylor they would add to the 40 man and then call up.

jj-cf-stlParticipant“This offseason” being key. The remaining games leave time for everyone to affect their offseason standing.
August 1, 2025 at 9:29 am #289208Yeah that’s what the rest of 2025 is all about as we continue to sift through players trying to figure out who to keep and who to cut / trade off.
Bloom has his work cut out for him but he’s at the end of his 2nd season so he should already have most of it figured out.
I hope his plan – whatever it is – works.

jj-cf-stlParticipant55-55 w/l at the deadline. Wouldn’t it be a hoot to have a winning record those last 52 games?
August 1, 2025 at 10:12 am #289211The Tigers did that last year. They traded off their vets and then the young guys propelled them into the playoffs. I doubt that happens, but I do think they should focus on getting young guys as many looks as they can and also some of the depth RPs like Taylor. Despite being 30, Taylor would still have options years if added to the 40 man. I see no harm in adding him, giving him a chance to prove himself, and if not successful DFA’ing him in the offseason.
August 1, 2025 at 12:06 pm #289229Nolan Gorman will be activated off the IL as the corresponding move.
Ryan Fernandez, Roddery Muñoz and Andre Granillo are up from Memphis to backfill the open bullpen spots #STLCards https://t.co/AZ9Qdc0Rc4

August 1, 2025 at 12:47 pm #289234I guess they took the easy route with those on the 40 man. Granillo and Fernandez made sense. Munoz has been given so many opportunities already and failed each time. I wish they would have given someone else a shot instead.
August 1, 2025 at 1:55 pm #289239Only 1 healthy lefty in the bull pen doesn’t make a lot of sense! Raquet was promoted to Memphis and has pitched well, maybe after a few outings he could take Munoz spot with King coming back soon hopefully.
August 1, 2025 at 3:40 pm #289251Munoz was exceptional in July for Memphis. From our Redbirds Notebook today:
In 12 2/3 frames over eight pen outings in the month, the right-hander posted a 2.13 ERA with an impressive 24 strikeouts and just three walks. His OBA was .203.
Maybe he is ultimately a AAAA guy, but to me, he earned this shot.
August 1, 2025 at 3:58 pm #289252Thanks Brian, I was not aware. Those are exceptional stats. I hope t translates to St Louis.
August 1, 2025 at 4:20 pm #289254P.S. While taking a first run through the July monthly stats, I learned that Munoz had the highest K/9 rate in the system at 17.1. As noted, it may or may not translate upward.
Maybe he took a look at the guys the org drafted this year and decided to adapt. 😉
August 1, 2025 at 4:51 pm #289260I wonder which pitchers are going to Memphis. Love would seem a lock.
August 1, 2025 at 5:13 pm #289263Berrios today. Already on The Roster Matrix.
Remember that Memphis also gets Skylar Hales from the trades and Raquet moved up from Springfield yesterday. Plus they signed another free agent. So I think they are set for now.
August 2, 2025 at 5:26 pm #289385Another starting pitching injury at the high levels of the #stlcards system. The organization's June Pitcher of the Month, RH Hancel Rincon, has been placed on the IL at Double-A Springfield. 3.92 ERA in 19 games including 17 starts. pic.twitter.com/ilYihl38Z6

August 4, 2025 at 7:42 am #289566Hi Brian, two questions:
(1) You are showing the FCL in the matrix as 39+4, but should it be 40+3 with only Holiday, Moran, and Willis on the IL? Or maybe one of the newly drafted went straight to the IL and it just isn’t indicated?
(2) Any update on the two signed-but-unassigned draftees, Gurevich and Heath?
-Joe
August 4, 2025 at 3:19 pm #2895881) Yes, after signing, Payton Graham was placed on the full-season IL.
2) Gurevitch and Heath have been formally placed on the FCL roster so all are accounted for.
Now that the FCL is over, everyone is being “activated” for the off-season.
August 4, 2025 at 6:33 pm #289626I wonder why the FCL ends before the draft.
August 4, 2025 at 6:35 pm #289627Mikolas leaves as a FA. Hamoson, Koperniak, and Baker are at risk of being trimmed. Maybe Shani too. Plus, Jordan has to be added.
August 4, 2025 at 8:03 pm #289639Don’t some of the draft hitting players typically get assigned to Palm Beach? I realize they may have them with FCL to go through orientation and analyzing the players to begin with, but I would expect someone like Gurevitch to get 2-3 weeks of games in Palm Beach.
August 4, 2025 at 8:05 pm #289640c27 asked:
I wonder why the FCL ends before the draft.
The FCL ran two weeks past the draft, but ends before draftees could play. In fact, most drafted pitchers don’t play the first year in any official league.
When MLB dropped the number of system players allowed under contract to 165, organizations realized they wouldn’t have enough pitching to cover the innings. So, the Complex leagues are now primarily a feeder for the DSL.
