Well there you go. I apologize to Booyah for being wrong about Granillo staying put with it being the trade deadline and guys getting traded out. I guess Granillo will have to go down for at least the minimum time.

Eh! Nothing to apologize for. I just thought this was a move that was inevitable due to him being up and down couple times. The extended outing yesterday was my signal it likely would happen.

Not sure how legit this is, but…

Ortiz had been playing very well and did deserve a promotion. Too bad it is to Peoria though. Every prospect that goes there seems to have their development stunted. I expect Bloom to wipe house with the staff in Peoria.

So, .287 at low A gets you promoted?

ZTR, a hitting line of .317/.431/.535/.966 8 HRs and a K rate just over 20% over 174 plate appearances since June 1 gets you promoted.

Yeah – that would do it – sustained success.

A .287 BA is quite good! Even not selecting a cutoff date, Ortiz .287/.409/.450 line which was good for 48% than the average player in the league.

.287 is good at low A?

    ZTR asked:

.287 is good at low A?

Yes, it is. In fact, it is 54 points better than the AVERAGE hitter in the Florida State League.

So what are the corresponding moves to the roster for Helsley and Matz, so far?

I’m curious if they are allowed to bring Granillo back up due to the trades or if he’s locked for 10 days.

Otherwise, it’s Fernandez, Roycroft, or Munoz. I think I read Munoz made the trip with the team so he’s at least one.

Jnevel, the answer is “yes”. Granillo is eligible to be recalled.

Is traded away viewed the same as backfilling for injury? Or is there another reason he is permitted to re-join?

Here’s how Cards are making room for the new players we acquired: (per transaction page)
07/31/25 – Peoria Chiefs activated RHP Frank Elissalt.
07/31/25 – Peoria Chiefs released RHP Angel Gonzalez.
07/31/25 – Peoria Chiefs released SS Michael Curialle.
07/31/25 – Peoria Chiefs activated SS Jesus Baez.
07/31/25 – 1B Blaze Jordan assigned to Memphis Redbirds.
07/31/25 – Peoria Chiefs activated RHP Nate Dohm.
07/31/25 – LHP Nick Raquet assigned to Memphis Redbirds from Springfield Cardinals.
07/31/25 – RHP Tyler Bradt assigned to Springfield Cardinals from Peoria Chiefs.

This tells us that Jesus Baez meniscus tear could be treated arthroscopically, not requiring major surgery and a long rehab.
It also tells us that Dohm’s arm is okay. It will be interesting to see what Elissalt shows up with at Peoria. Lots of good news.

I don’t understand the Blaze Jordan for Steven Matz trade. All Jordan does is hit, and hit some more, whether it’s RHP or LHP. According to his stats he has some power, too. The Red Sox traded this guy for Steven Matz?? What is it about this trade that we don’t know yet. The Red Sox drafted Jordan in 2020 out of high school, so he’s still only 22 years old (turns 23 on December 19

Mud, Blaze Jordan could turn out to be a steal or he could turn out to be another Luken Baker. Time will tell but he hasn’t been in AAA very long so we will see. The good news is that Bloom knows the Boston system well so I assume he gave his input on this move.
