    Albert-

Yup, CF seems to be the thing. And I could well imagine him an upgrade there over Barrero.

    Thanks.

06/26/25 – DSL Cardinals activated RHP Kriscol Peralta from the restricted list.
06/26/25 – RHP Brailyn Paulino assigned to FCL Cardinals from DSL Cardinals.

A bunch of roster moves after the off day for the non-rookie league teams:

for the part that is cut off:
RHP Zack Showalter has been transferred from Peoria to the FCL.

INF Christian Martin (A) & OF Jose Cordoba (A) have been activated from the 7-day IL.

C Maikel Hernandez (A) & RHP Conor Steinbaugh (A) have been placed on the 7-day IL.

OF Romtres Cabrera has been transferred from Palm Beach to the FCL.

Nice to see Ralston pitching in AAA now. He did need to move up.

Ralston still needs to work on his control. At AA he walked 21 in 31 innings. Velocity is still good…. 41Ks in those 31 inn. MEM will be the acid test for him.

I don’t see Hamson on the matrix.

Hampson was readded. The totals were fine. I just lost him in his last move. Thank you for the correction.

Hampson reminds of the temporary moves that don’t make the Cardinals better. If you need a right handed batter who can play center, just trade for a decent backup.

I actually think it made perfect sense if you aren’t sure whether you are adding or subtracting yet. Scott is terrible against lefties but plays elite defense all the time. The team didn’t want to downgrade their defense if they replaced Scott so Hampson works as he’s also been an elite defender. And, he’s ok against lefties – much better than Scott anyway. Plus, he’s a legitimate backup at lots of positions so he can replace Barrero as the last guy on the bench. He makes a good late game defensive substitution or pinch runner as well. And while Barrero may have had a higher ceiling long term (maybe), Hampson is more consistent right now. He’s an easy candidate to DFA once the team decides on a direction, but in the meantime, he improves the team a little while we cross that bridge.

When the best/only addition of the season is a .238 career hitter claimed off the waiver wire, there isn’t much to discuss…

Wetherholt promotion’s well was very earned and about when I expected it.

Dutkanych IV was also activated and will get his 1st pro ball taste soon. He hardly pitched in college either so it will be interesting to see how the team handles him. I would only expect 1 or 2 innings in his first few starts assuming he starts even at first.

    Date Transaction
07/08/25 Peoria Chiefs placed SS Miguel Villarroel on the 7-day injured list.
07/07/25 3B Johnfrank Salazar assigned to FCL Cardinals from Palm Beach Cardinals.
07/07/25 RHP Andrew Dutkanych IV assigned to FCL Cardinals from Palm Beach Cardinals.

Brian, I got an error message when trying to pull up Evan Mendoza’s player page. Is that still available on the site?

There is a bug with the player pages that stops access from some functions. I am waiting to hear back from the code developer.

For those players still on team rosters, you can access them via the ROSTERS tab in the red menu bar. However, not so for former players like Mendoza.

Not shocking really. Hence and Roby seem to be in a contest of who can have the most injury riddled career.

I think this is the perfect time for Church to be added to the 40 man roster, And Henderson moved up to AAA.

Sometimes a shuffling of players is a precursor of other moves. We’ll know at the deadline.

I’ve really had enough of these hopes and dreams that recently have not been working out. Lets work on a better roster for ’26 and ’27. Right now I’d hold onto the younger guys that have some potential to fill roster spots and dump the ones that aren’t working out…. Walker i.e. and hopefully we’ll get back to where we were….. at least on top of the NLC. Who knows a World Championship team might not be too far off despite the serious damage Mozeliak brought to the team….. and that tight-wad DeWitt.

It would be hard to demote Fermin at this time.
