There’s the Bling I know and love! Hey, you declared there’s no way Contreras would be a good first baseman before he had played 1 inning there.

I’ve been watching Granillo for 4 years now. It’s not like I haven’t seen his stuff. And I’m not suggesting he’s going to be immediately as good as Helsley was last season. But if you’re looking for a future closer, this is your guy.

I noticed Honeyman was on the Peoria bench and looked at the transactions to see he had been activated.

06/13/25 Peoria Chiefs activated OF Travis Honeyman from the 7-day injured list.
06/13/25 Palm Beach Cardinals activated OF Bryce Madron from the 7-day injured list.

    Assuming a rehab assignment:
06/17/25 – RHP Edwin Nuñez assigned to FCL Cardinals from Springfield Cardinals.

Probably more reset than rehab. 12.96 ERA with Springfield. Thought they would use development list for this but apparently not.

Ok, this seems weird to me, but after being released on the 15th, Matzek is back with Memphis!

06/19/25 – St. Louis Cardinals signed free agent LHP Tyler Matzek to a minor league contract.
06/19/25 – RHP Alan Reyes assigned to FCL Cardinals from Palm Beach Cardinals.
06/19/25 – St. Louis Cardinals recalled RHP Michael McGreevy from Memphis Redbirds.

Unfortunate for Andre, but Cards need a fresh arm.

All of a sudden we seem to have more pitching depth. I think I’d like to see Fedde traded, and McGreevy take his place. But it’s nice to know we have Granillo, Svanson, O’Brien. We could use another lefty out of the pen, as King isn’t that impressive.

Right handed depth is great. All of the above mentioned plus potentially Roby or Hence. Left handed depth is weak. Hjerpe would have been a great choice for year end but he’s out. Packy Naughton is also out. Thompson is hurt. Rom is hurt. Kaminsky got hurt and then released. No one else has stepped up. The organization obviously sees this issue and went out and just signed Tyler Matzek. We haven’t seen him yet. The only other option is Quinn Mathews – if he stays healthy and they decide to start the clock on him early.

I wonder if there’s a chance they would dip into the AA lefty pitchers if needed. Henderson, Hansen, Mautz.

I don’t see them doing that Gags unless it was true desperation. With Henderson, it’s too early. It would be like when they called Scott or Walker up too early. Still, he’s most likely of the 3 you mentioned because he may be able to survive. Hansen just doesn’t have the stuff. Mautz is too erratic. He also may not have good enough stuff to survive.

Today’s dumping of Barrero for Hampson is definitely interesting. I don’t know much about Hampson. At one point I was excited about Barrero, but having watched him play, I think he’s a long ways off from being a major league professional.

Welcome aboard Hampson. I know it’s a lot to ask this quick, but would you help our guys with base running? Rabbits are always a welcome sight wearing birds on the bat.

Thanks, jnevel! I, too, am curious about Hampson. And wondering why Hampson rather than Fermin.

Gagliano, I assume it was Hampson since he can play CF and the team has no real backup CF with the current roster
