Antico and Stauss keep going to/from the development list. They are basically just minors injury replacements at this point. If I were Antico, I would explore minors FA next year. He doesn’t have a role with this team even as depth as Torres is probably ahead of him now, but in some other org he likely has a change to get at least a couple of cups of coffee in the bigs. Somone like the Athletics could use him as they need defensive help and depth in CF

Not sure where to put this and didn’t want to start a new thread.

    Some of Mo’s mistakes

Who would you rather have, a 28 year old already set for free agency where the first 2-2.5 years were learning on the big league level? Or a 30 year old ready to explore FA after actually learning the game hitting / pitching in the minors?

Liberatore, just turned 25, looking like he’s finally hitting his stride.

Walker, not quite 23, good early, then a victim of we will change your swing in the majors. WTH? Leave him in the minors and do it there. Would probably come up last year or this year ready to go. And by the way, would you prefer the Walker that came up or the one they keep trying to switch his wing.

Gorman, just turned 25, see Walker. Let them learn where they are supposed to learn, not in the majors.

Both Walker and Gorman are in the same boat…. and its taking on water. The infield spot could be filled with Saggese very easily. That tightens defense and adds a RH bat. The OF spot is more difficult to fill. Koperniak and Helman (40-man roster)are struggling at Memphis, or is it Siana? Donovan-Scott-Nootbaar isn’t a bad OF and Siana would only be a fill-in. An injury to that group would mean Burleson out there.

We’re on a role so presently I wouldn’t make those kind of moves. But down the road those moves are almost a must. Its probably time to cut bait on our over-hyped top prospects of just a few years ago.

The value of Walker and Gorman has to be low right now but there might be teams out there that might take a chance on one or both of them….. the Rox could stand to have a couple of new young faces around also MIA and MIN.

Real bummer to see this on the transaction list! I thought he might be able to help the Cards later this year.

05/13/25 – Memphis Redbirds placed RHP Sem Robberse on the full-season injured list.

Michael Helman was placed on waivers and claimed by the Bucs. What do you think the Cards are planning to do with his 40-man spot?

They must have a move in mind. Otherwise you can have kept Loutos, and released Hellman instead. Is it possible they add Kaminsky when his rehab is done.

There must be a blockbuster trade in the works!

I see a couple of options for that 40 man spot. Ryan Vilade could get it and take the spot of Pozo on the big league roster.

Andre Granillo would be a good choice as well as he has been great in Memphis with a 34.3 K% and 5.7 BB% with a 1.62 ERA.

The other option I could see if the team wants more long relief depth would be Drew Rom, but I doubt it is him since he was rehabbing and I imagine they want to give him some time in Memphis.

There is zero need for Helman so this is a “nothing to see here move” from a loss perspective.

My first thought was maybe Thompson was nearing a return. But the timing does seem odd. The big league team doesn’t necessarily need Granillo right now as the bullpen is rested and fresh. But he seems like the only reasonable choice. Prieto I guess could be reasonable as he’s hitting well, but there’s no room for him on the mlb roster right now so no sense in putting him on the 40-man when Saggese would just come up first. The only other explanation would be a trade, but the timing is weird for that too. I think it has to be either Thompson coming back off the 60-day or Granillo getting a call-up.

It is good to see Svanson back in STL. I would like to see Granillo up soon as well soon despite him needing a 40 man spot. I would consider using King’s last option year to demote him since there are 2 other lefties in the pen as well.

    My statement from April 11th

Now let’s hope he is playing at least half his games in the field and plays well enough to be promoted to Peoria in June. At 23 he needs to be progressing above A ball quickly.

Really glad to see Honeyman promoted right about when I expected him to be. A college hitter at his age and his R5 timeline really needs to spend most of this year in A+.

I would argue he needs to see a promotion to Springfield before the end of the season.

I don’t have Twitter / X to find a tweet about it, but it looks like Joshua Baez has been promoted to Springfield as he is playing RF for them tonight.

The teams seem to be better about putting the transactions on MILB.

    Date Transaction
05/29/25 Springfield Cardinals transferred C Wade Stauss to the Development List.
05/29/25 OF Joshua Baez assigned to Springfield Cardinals from Peoria Chiefs.

Well it looks like right after Honeyman earned his promotion, he hit the IL. I noticed he only took a single AB yesterday and had a feeling he was hurt.

    Date Transaction
05/29/25 Peoria Chiefs placed OF Travis Honeyman on the 7-day injured list.
05/29/25 Peoria Chiefs activated C Chase Adkison.
