The low hanging fruit the organization was looking for.

Not shocking as it appeared they were completely happy with the makeup of the right side of the pen. If he pitches like he did in NY and Houston we got a deal and if he pitches like he did early in his career and in Tampa we can dump him for salary relief.

Just saw this on the transaction tracker:
03/19/25 – St. Louis Cardinals released C Chance Sisco.

Any ideas what happens with the AAA bullpen? I was trying to fill it out as I was curious what it may look like as we have way too many pitchers for AAA. Either some guys need to repeat a level they already have been at, or we are going to have to demote some others and release some others. I’m guessing these guys get released.

    – Curtis Taylor
    – Zach Weiss
    – Nick Raquet

So, Fermin and Barrero go down so Scott and Siani stay.

Most interesting . . . I had called Matz to the bullpen long ago. But never did I expect Liberatore to beat out McGreevey for the rotation. McGreevey has been excellent all Spring and end of last season.

I guess McGreevey will likely be pitching in Gray’s spot when they decide he’s hurt and going to the IL.

Carrying Siani and Scott at the same time makes no sense to me. It would be ok if we had backup SS covered. But we don’t.

McGreevy in Memphis? I don’t understand that one unless it is service time manipulation. He has 14 days of service time, so as long as he is up for 157 days or less this year, McGreevy will not earn a full year of service time. I assume that is roughly the beginning of May we will see him then.

Halfway surprised Libby got the rotation spot over Matz, but I like it. Shoot your shot with Libby and hope it goes well.

Confused about both Scott and Siani. I’m glad Scott is the starting CF though.

I guess this makes Donovan the utility guy who will play as much as the starters. One of Donovan, Noot, Scott, Walker, Arenado, Winn, and Gorman will sit most every night (save an occasional game with one as DH, but that forces Contreras, Herrera, or Burly to the bench…), with proportions of missing varying some. When Herrera, Contreras, or Burly sits, Pages starts. Baker and Siani starts are very, very rare. Baker serves as PH, Siani as PR and defensive sub late in the OF.

It will be interesting to see how the 6 man rotation goes. I’m glad Liberatore is getting one more shot at the rotation, and given that it makes sense to let McGreevy stay stretched out and ready to go when there’s an injury or trade.

Carrying both Scott and Siani is strange indeed. Having no backup SS is also strange. If Winn gets hurt during a game I guess Donovan would fill in. It all seems unnecessary to me.
