The #STLCards are calling up RHP Adam Kloffenstein, sources tell The Athletic. Kloffenstein, acquired at last year's deadline in the Jordan Hicks trade, posted a 3.97 ERA over 14 starts with Triple-A Memphis. He'll join the team in Birmingham on Thursday.

I have no insight on this other than I know that Adam Kloffenstein threw 91 pitches for Memphis on Sunday. So, if he debuts for the #stlcards tomorrow as some suggest, it would be on three days rest.

He is the same age as McGreevy, but was drafted out of high school in 2018, so this is his 7th pro year.
Kloffenstein is only a month and a half older than Mathews. Adam may be the trend breaker of Memphis pitchers moving up.

I wonder if Bedell’s promotion means Kloff will be staying for a while.
A lot of the local regulars were high on Bedell when the Cards drafted him. He’s been pitching better lately, too. Hopefully he will respond to the challenge and advance to the big leagues.
I feel strongly that the Cardinals should DFA Gallegos. I hate that. He was really good for a long time. But it seems he has little left. That bullpen spot could go to developing someone like a Roycroft or a Memphis starter.
The Bedell move means Springfield is back to a 5 man rotation, but now with Kloff returning, there is an extra starter in Memphis.

No, not really. Robberse is on the IL. They’ve had Raquet spot starting for him, but one can guess that starting berth will go to Bedell instead and Raquet will return to the pen.
Of course, that may change again when Matz is activated.
Yeah Brian is right we have room for Kloffenstein now. When Matz comes off the IL and potentially Pallante gets sent down, we will see what happens. Same thing with Robberse getting healthy. We would have 7 potential SP as of now for 5 spots in AAA.
The situation will likely be sorted out through trades I imagine. Either we are in it and trade a AAA pitcher, or we are out and trade an MLB SP and need someone from AAA to come up. Hence is also interesting to consider. Before the injury, I was expecting him to be in AAA by July. The injury may push that back to August.
AA is also going to have some sorting out to do unless someone is traded soon. Mathews is probably looking to be promoted to AA soon. Paniagua should be promoted as he is 24 and pitching decently well. He also needs to move up to test if he is worthy of a 40 man spot. I wonder how much longer Trent Baker has as a SP in Springfield. He has pitched very poorly and has a very violent delivery, so he should be moved to the BP soon in my opinion.
