His presense should provide some extra turnstile clicks out in OK. Nice to see he’s earning his pay scale this week…

So Carp and Carlson will be returning soon, which means two going out.

Matz has been added to the 15 day IL with a back strain retroactive to May 1st. Leahy has been added to the active roster in his place. We will see who gets Tuesday’s start. Robberse pitched yesterday and wouldn’t be available. Liberatore may not be stretched out enough. Thompson is still scheduled to be pitching for Memphis tonight so it isn’t him. Kloffenstein is on the 40 man and rested but he has pitched poorly.

Actually Robberse will like up for 5 days from last night’s start. He may get the start. They may also let it be Liberatore and let him go 3 or 4 and have a bullpen game.

It will be Robberse. No way they go back to starting Liberatore. He is effective in the role he is in. And he’s not as a starter because of his ho hum fastball.

Don’t look for Robberse to be a savior, but he should be better than Matz has been lately, which isn’t saying a lot.

I don’t expect Robberse to be amazing, but he could be a solid #4 or #5 in the coming years. It will be good to see what he has in the majors though and to see if he holds up there.

Thompson had a great start for Memphis tonight. Now that they’ve got a rotation spot open for him, I’d like to see what Thompson can do pitching every fifth day. I agree that Liberatore is not going to be a starter.
Robberse will get his chance at the major league level sometime this season.

I hate to see guys start the season on the IL. Per MiLB transaction page:
05/04/24 – FCL Cardinals placed RHP Bruno Lopez on the 60-day injured list.
05/04/24 – FCL Cardinals placed OF Travis Honeyman on the 7-day injured list.
05/04/24 – FCL Cardinals placed CF Romtres Cabrera on the 7-day injured list.

The next starter up should be Robberse by a mile. What we have in STL now isn’t going to do.

Well I sure hope they are not planning on calling up a 22 year old with 70 innings in AAA, but I wouldn’t be a bit surprised. Throw one more on the pile.

The above transaction completed by transferring infielder/outfielder Tommy Edman to the 60-day IL.

Gio to the IL is the active roster move. Saw that coming a mile away.

Well, Roycroft is a total whiff on everybody’s top prospect list, TCN and Community. I am pretty sure I never acknowledged his existence until 2 or 3 weeks ago.

Yes the Gallegos IL stint was definitely coming. Shoulder impingement is code for can’t get anyone out.

Roycroft’s ERA has been fantastic, but I don’t have a lot of confidence in his stuff for the big league level given his K% and BB%. Definitely need a fresh arm though so the move makes sense. They will probably DFA him when someone comes back from the 60 day IL.

    Cardinals reports:

Edman may be ready for season opener.
Edman may be ready by mid-April
Edman should be ready by early May
Edman may be ready by late May
Edman placed on the 60-day IL.

Might as well consider him lost for the season…. why rush him back? Let him stay close to Eli.

I get the frustration, Ny, but what can be done differently? He’s had setback after setback. I don’t think Edman is dogging it and I highly doubt the Cardinals are not doing everything possible to try to get him ready…

Cardinals say they’ve claimed LHP Kolton Ingram on waivers from Texas and optioned him to Memphis. Riley O’Brien to the 60-day IL to make room on the 40.

Ingram’s been claimed on waivers four different times this season already.
