    I think Hudson and Knizner will get major leage deals by someone. They do have value. Woodford and Yepez may have to settle for minor leage deals.

    A year or two ago the stock of Yepez was trending up. He really plummeted in a hurry.

    I’m surprised Knizner couldn’t have been traded. He could be a cheap starting catcher or as insurance in case your starter goes down with injury. But now I do see why Pages was added to the 40 man roster.

    Kiz will land at least 2mil. I thought he could have sneaky good value. Whoever he signs with didn’t have to trade value, just by waiting.

    Gomez had a similar trajectory down a notch in the system. He was a world beat the first half of 2022 in AA, and looked pretty good in AAA, then this year back to reality. But he still has a slot on the 40 man. It helps to be cheap with options left.

    Knizner has Marlins all over him.

    Looking at the full list of non tenders around MLB, its quite a crop of clunkers. The Cardinals group are standouts by comparison. Theoretically, Mo could have more egg on his face. Both Hudson and Yepez have had success in MLB and could have nice years if the stars align for them. Knizner would likely be solid as an injury replacement for somebody. And nothing says Woodford can’t have a 2022 (1.117 WHIP) doing decent middle relief for somebody willing to just leave him there knowing what his job is going to be day in day out. None of those outcomes would be shocking. Poor Mo.

    I am willing tô bet that at least one of our non tenders hás a significant impact somewhere next year.

    One good thing about roster decisions is that Pages should be the AAA catcher, Crooks should move up to AA, and Bernal to high A.

    Another way to think about it. A 91-loss, last place team trimmed a bunch of guys off the back end of the roster. I, for one, am happy they are going to try others rather than keep the status quo. Of course, it remains to be seen if the replacements perform better than those they replaced.

    When the guys let go perform as bad as they did, the bar is set real low for the replacements. Also, it’s not like these moves will knock the team out of the playoffs after a successful year. They lost 91 games with the guys they let go.

    Hmmm. Interesting. Potential up side with no down side. I like it.

    I was hoping W-Rod would be back. I want to see him finish his story here, good or bad.

    @BrianWalton

    Maybe there is an error in the current roster matrix.
    By adding Lynn the players became 214 and not 217.
    The current total should be 217, not 220

    From transaction pages:

    11/28/23 – St. Louis Cardinals signed free agent RHP Michael Correa to a minor league contract. Assigned to DSL.
