Gorman to the IL. Querecuto called up. (Did the Cardinals misspell “Motter”?) 😉
September 13, 2023 at 4:30 pm #233834According to Baseball Reference:
Motter 82 PAs, .171 BA, 23 OPS+. -0.6 WAR
M.Winn 77 PAs, .162 BA, 13 OPS+, -0.6 WARSeptember 13, 2023 at 4:32 pm #233835Motter 34 in 5 days
Winn 21September 13, 2023 at 5:54 pm #233838Hardly concerned about Winn and Mottar comparisons now. Winn needs on the job training for the rest the year.
September 13, 2023 at 6:00 pm #233839I’d like see Rodriguez for the rest of the year. He’s 33, why is he at Memphis?

cardsfan64ParticipantNot one.
Not two.
But THREE Chiefs are headed up to Springfield!Congratulations to RHP Max Rajcic, INF Ramon Mendoza, and RHP Edwin Nunez for getting the call up to Double-A! We’re glad we could finish our season with you! 🤩 pic.twitter.com/AmmMlAA94X

cardsfan64ParticipantHey Brian,
I was looking through the Matrix thinking about players that may be released off teams, when I noticed Mejia was listed twice; once in PB and also in FCL. Cordoba also didn’t get moved when he was promoted to PB. Looking forward to the off-season to see the roster churn and new International signings! Any insight on International players they may be targeting?September 18, 2023 at 5:23 pm #234100Thanks for pointing out my errors. They have been corrected. I don’t have anything new on international.
September 19, 2023 at 8:55 am #23413509/11 entry includes “RHP Leonardo Taveras from Peo (suspended list) to FCL.” Was he activated at FCL or is he on the SL there as shown in the matrix?
-JoeSeptember 19, 2023 at 9:37 am #234137The FCL season has long been over but they couldn’t move him there earlier to try to shorten the suspension. Post-season games don’t count against the suspension so they moved him when Peoria’s regular season was over. It is just a paperwork thing.
I believe he will become a minor league free agent this fall, so the suspension will follow him if he is resigned. It will definitely hurt his chances of finding a job for 2024.
September 20, 2023 at 3:03 pm #234233With Burleson out, the Cardinals are recalling Ivan Herrera.
September 21, 2023 at 9:48 am #234293
cardsfan64ParticipantC Jimmy Crooks has been transferred from Peoria (A+) to Memphis (AAA).

ParticipantThe Crooks move is probably a result of Herrera being called up to STL. It might have been Pages going up to AAA but Springfield still has play-off games going on. Crooks will likely get some ABs today because of the completed game from last night plus the regularly scheduled game will be played today.

September 30, 2023 at 4:10 pm #234864Woodford optioned out (to the FCL) with James Naile recalled to provide a fresh arm.
September 30, 2023 at 6:13 pm #234867Good to see Oli taking these games seriously.
October 3, 2023 at 9:54 am #235113Minor note. The Cards moved Woodford back from the FCL now that the season is over. Because he did not end the season with St. Louis, I have placed him on the Memphis roster for the off-season.
October 4, 2023 at 10:16 pm #235223Taylor Motter has elected free agency. The year of the Motter is over.
October 4, 2023 at 10:28 pm #235224What happened the last time he was a free agent?
October 8, 2023 at 9:55 am #235394The note at the end of the 10/02 transaction is 232 players in the organization, but shouldn’t it be 233? Matrix shows…
St. Louis: 28+13
Memphis: 25
Springfield: 30+4
Peoria: 19+6
Palm Beach: 29+4
FCL: 33+3
DSL: 34+2
Signed, unassigned: 3October 8, 2023 at 1:28 pm #235404I think it may be because Chris Girard got released, but he is still showing up down below in the rosters. I noticed that the other day.
October 8, 2023 at 5:42 pm #235415I took Gerard off. Thanks for the correction. I will double check all the totals when I post the offseason matrix (soon).
October 16, 2023 at 9:25 am #235770Although Drew VerHagen was signed to a 2-year contract in March 2022, isn’t 2024 just his second year of arbitration eligibility and not his first year of free agency? He started the 2023 season with 4.066 service time.
-JoeOctober 16, 2023 at 9:57 am #235771VerHagen’s contract with the Cardinals specifically stipulates that he is a free agent at its conclusion.
