There is going to be a lot of roster maneuvering between now and then.

Also be aware that as recently as 2021, Palacios was a second baseman. Last year, he was a left fielder. This year, he is a CF. Next year??? Versatile guys like that find a home – as long as they hit.

When will the Cards be dropping players from DSL and FCL? (besides the ones mentioned in the latest TCN article?)

There is no set schedule or pattern that I can tell. It is kind of unusual to see six releases at once as they usually dribble them out one or two at a time.

Motter has been DFAed again… Fermin recalled. Romero to IL, Liberatore activated off IL.

Is there any info on Romere’s injury yet?

I hope Scott and Antico do not have their progress retarded by Sianas’ and Palacios additions. They both seem to be ready for AAA. I think they are a dynamic SB duo.

So who replaces Cornwell in the rotation?

And why is Mottar DFA’d? Not that I disagree.

I am thinking Bedell should replaces Cornwell. Then Hansen or Mautz replaaces Bedell.

Last week, Cornwell didn’t start. In fact, he didn’t pitch at all. The Springfield rotation is Lunn, Komar, Roby, Hence and Pereira. I doubt they would promote Bedell for two reasons. One is that they are closely managing his innings. The other is that they probably want Peoria at full strength for the playoffs. For the same reason, they leave the PB rotation alone with just one week left in the regular season.

Scott seems ready for Triple-A and should be there to open next season. Antico will also probably move up but he has the just the eighth-best OPS on the Springfield team. As I said on another thread, Pinder will be gone, I wonder about Gomez’ 40-man spot and overall, I don’t see enough outfield depth to block anyone deserving.

Re: Motter, we will have to see if they have immediate plans for his 40-man roster spot. I am all for giving his at-bats to a younger player who is part of the future. Why he continued to be in the lineup is just one more question about Motter’s entire weird StL tenure.

On wanting more news on injured players, the Cardinals were off Monday. That means there was no one for the media to talk to. That will change by this afternoon.

Looks like its time to give Woodford the shaft, yet again. He was on a rehab at same time as Libby, and the last two games for each was this:
    Libby. 2 games, 6.2 inngs, 7 hits, 7 runs, 10 walks, 11 k’s, 168 pitches.
    Woody. 2 games, 8.1 inngs, 3 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, 12 k’s, 121 pitches.
And after this, Libby gets recalled and not Woodford.??
Really? Woodford obviously pitching much better than Libby.
I know the season if over, but both players are fighting for a spot on the 24 team. This is simply a slap in the face to Woodford. I hope he can move on to another team, because the FO and Mgr here seem to be holding a grudge.

Wouldn’t it be interesting if the starting outfield at Memphis next season is Sianis, Antico, and Scott? It would probably be the fastest outfield ever.

I guess when it is said “to have a short memory in baseball”, it seems to be true of management as well…
after London, Woodford went on IL, and now has been demoted to AAA..??? go figure.-

“MVP of the series, because he really locked it down and he saved us,” closer Jordan Hicks said. “I called [Woodford] the MVP after the game and that’s what he is. If we played every series in London, he’d probably be the Cy Young or something.”
Added manager Oli Marmol: “We had some big hits, but what Jake did today — especially following what he did [on Saturday] — he was one of the most important parts of that game. It takes a lot to be able to do that, so for him to give us what he did, it was amazing.”

Right 552. sent to aaa, while we have older, new guys on the roster with much worse numbers..?? that is about zero logic.

Everybody has to get out of Libby’s way so Mo can continue to pretend he didn’t get hosed on the trade.

Initial comment was deleted as I didn’t see that Liberatore will be pitching out of the bullpen.

    bling asked:

Left knee patellar tendinitis. Unclear if/why he would be rushed back in 2023.

Liberatore will pitch out of the St. Louis bullpen for now, but you can bet on him making two or three starts in the remaining weeks.

I saw this from Bernie, Redbird Review, from 9-6 on Scoops, but he gives no source.

Springfield will have to finish its bid to make the playoffs without Thomas Saggese, who has earned his promotion to Memphis.

So what is the word on Edgar Gonzalez? He has been injured for years! Pitched one inning in 2021, and hasn’t pitched since! I can’t imagine how frustrating that must be for him. Brian, have you heard anything?

No. He could have been among the rehabbers I saw working out in Jupiter, but they don’t wear uniforms. He isn’t a guy that is in front of mind, to be honest.

Saw this on MiLB transaction page:

09/11/23 – Palm Beach Cardinals activated RHP Zack Showalter from the 7-day injured list.
09/11/23 – C Alejandro Loaiza assigned to Palm Beach Cardinals from FCL Cardinals.
09/11/23 – C Graysen Tarlow assigned to Peoria Chiefs from Palm Beach Cardinals.
