Wow! Hurst just came off the IL on May 9th and goes back on it on the 10th? May have come back too soon! Looks like Memphis will need another OF to fill in or add depth. Antico, or maybe Koperniak?

05/09/23 Memphis Redbirds activated OF Scott Hurst from the 7-day injured list.

Maybe someone from the STL roster. That would be unusual.

It would not be unusual at all depending on how soon O’Neill is ready to be activated. He is supposed to report to Memphis for rehab in a few days. Which OF will go down then?

Its between a RH bat off the bench and a LH bat off the bench. Since O’Neill is RH, I say Yepez goes down rather than Burleson.

    From MiLB transaction page:

05/15/23 – SS Javier Bolivar assigned to Palm Beach Cardinals from FCL Cardinals.
05/15/23 – 2B Irving Lopez assigned to Springfield Cardinals from Memphis Redbirds.

Its hard to keep up, but the way I see it, the plan as of now is like this:

A six man rotation, with the #6 starter being available for an inning on his side session day. This is to compensate for the pen being one man short.

Theoretically, there is no reason only the #6 starter could be called upon to do an inning in relief instead of a normal side session. So I wonder if we could see even more lunacy.

I wonder whether anyone other than the rookie would agree to go along with it.

Ollie could put the hammer down. Anybody doesn’t go 6 IP is on side day pen duty.

Looks like Woodfords rehab in Memphis ended really well.. 3 inngs, 0 hits, 2 k’s.!
    Heading back to St.Louis now.
I wonder what they will do with him…? I would put him in the pen and replace one of several guys that are there now: Verhagen, Stratten, Pallante. Woodford seemed to do much better coming out of the pen vs starting. He could be a good option.

I think Stratton has been pretty good most of the year. He has one or two bad outings that have skewed his ERA but most of his outings have been good. I wouldn’t mind Woodford replacing Verhagen.
