I thought the Memphis roster was full, but they moved a guy up from SPR today with no move the other way.

When Yepez replaced Noot, that opened a spot on Memphis.

Thanks 64. I hadn’t thought about the position player side since the player moved up is a pitcher. Maybe because of the double header. Actually, maybe they can have an extra man for a DH. I didn’t think of that either. We will see what happens with their roster today.

Yes, there is a free article about the Black promotion on the front page, posted yesterday.

I wonder what are the statuses of Holgate and Ralston? Are they injured? I still think Ralston could be a major league reliever.

I can only speak for what I saw during the last week of camp, when both were active. On the 24th specifically, both were with Palm Beach. Ralston threw an inning that day, allowing three baserunners and a run scored to go with two Ks. Holgate was in uniform and available off the bench but did not play. Unless they had very late injuries, it appears they just didn’t make a team. They are in extended spring training now.

RHRP Jack Ralston is on the Springfield roster now. He was at the complex I think.

I noticed this on the MiLB transactions list:

04/19/23 San Antonio Missions transferred RHP Henry Henry to the Development List.

OK, what is “the Development List” ?

    What were his parents thinking?

Anyway, it is used when a player is sent to his organization’s Florida or Arizona base for conditioning and development (but not injury rehab). He doesn’t count against his team’s active roster limit so for bookkeeping, it is like an IL move, but the player isn’t injured. I’ve never seen the Cardinals use this designation.

I’d like to see what Zuniga could do for us. If we could only do something with Hicks. Maybe invent an injury.

04/20/23 St. Louis Cardinals sent RHP Wilking Rodríguez on a rehab assignment to Memphis Redbirds.

This was on MiLB transactions yesterday, but since he was already on Memphis’s roster I don’t know that it means anything besides a bookkeeping matter. He did not show up on yesterday’s Memphis box score.

    Bling….
WRodriguez pitched a clean 8th + 1K last night in relief of Thomas and that earned him a “hold”. 9 pitches 7 strikes… he seems to be getting close to returning to the big club.

Maybe old news but Arizona has DFA’d Bumgardner.

I wonder if Mo will try to get him? Seems like a Mo Move….

Brian, who is this pitcher we apparently signed as the season was starting?

March 30, 2023 DSL Cardinals signed free agent RHP Andrew Bolivar to a minor league contract.

Not to be confused with the SS Javier Bolivar on the Palm Beach roster. I didn’t see anything about this signing anywhere. I read that he is 17 and out of Venezuela, but that is all I could find. Anything you can find from your vast resources?

In the rush of season-opening moves, I missed that one. Bolivar doesn’t appear to be a high-profile prospect. You know as much as I do about him at this point. He fills out the DSL roster at 35 so it appears they are done with signings for awhile – unless there are long-term injuries we don’t know about.
