The St. Louis Cardinals have promoted right-handed relief pitcher Grant Black from Double-A Springfield to Triple-A Memphis. The timing is good since the Redbirds were rained out Wednesday with a makeup twin bill on Thursday.
Over his two prior seasons in the Cardinals system, Black, 28, split his time almost equally between the two affiliates, with a better ERA, 4.08 to 4.76, at the higher level.
Prior to this move, Memphis had been one player under the 28-man limit and now Springfield is.
