    bccran,
Not really for me. I usually dont crawl out of bed in the mornings till around 10 or 11. So I am good to go for the late night West Coast games. Love watching games from Dodger Stadium! Games at San Francisco are good too. Oakland is the only stadium out west that I dont really care to watch a game in.

Different situation, Rat. We have to be up and “at ‘em” early. Turn in at 10:30pm and up at 6:30am to get a running start on the day.

And Carpenter replaces Goldschmidt at first base and drops a throw. Kind of a funky play but somehow he dropped the throw. He was saved by the 1st base umpire’s poor call that the batter was out.

The more and more I see Carpenter I am thinking he is utterly worthless – period.

Carp has something wrong with him physically, mentally, or emotionally. Now at .034/.222/.069/.291. CFer today after the first K, had good bat speed, good launch angle, barrel rate checked out, and exit velocity was fine. Just more bad luck.
    Now at .107/.167/.143/.310.

Carpenter has been a good player for several years but not anymore. The sad thing is, he’ll be on the opening day roster. A player will be at Memphis who could help the Cardinals but instead the big team will be stuck with someone who can’t do much of anything at all.

Yep mspaid, I think you are right. Personally I think carp should see the writing on the wall and retire but I don’t think he will willingly give up that money.

This looks like the 2021 first string lineup, depending what the braintrust finally decides to do about Bader.

Agreed, CiF. I think Bader and Thomas may both get some starts in time, even if Williams may have the inside track to get the last spot over Thomas.

I really hope that is not going to be our everyday lineup. If it is it will make me wonder if anybody knows what they are doing.

It is a good line-up and it makes me think they know exactly what they are doing.

I really was hoping Carp could be a good bench power left hand hitting bat that can play 3 positions in the infield…

but he is 1 for the Spring…and he has had plenty of chances in all sorts of ways to show he is worth a 40man spot…and failed…he has been more nimble at 2b than i thought he would be which is nice…but that is the only positive thing I have seen at all

There has to be some kind of meeting to talk of a buyout at the least…i am sure he feels the heat and knows his teammates are holding back saying anything but undoubtedly thinking what he knows…he is not doing well and it is a detriment to the team

I know we are paying him regardless, but he is not Hechavarria or even Bader who can survive on an exceptional level of defense to mitigate their poor bats

Everyone keeps asking why can’t he put down some bunts, purposely hit to left field for singles…and every time they are lambasted for that not being something he is doing or trying to do or that they ar e trying to teach him or encourage him to do…they want the old Carp back

Well the old Carp isn’t coming back…at least not the power hitting one he turned himself into for a couple half years…

We are getting NOTHING out of him…if we are going to pay him to sit on the bench and rot…I’d at least prefer a guy who will drop down a bunt to beat the shift or a guy who can hit a lazy single to left…right now he can’t do anything offensively…

I want him to be serviceable…i really do…we could use the extra bench power..and some depth defensively…we are truly lacking a dependable 3rd impact bat as Dejong is not exactly tearing the cover off the ball…

I’d adjust the mentality now..and hope it leads to better things…bunts to beat the shift, and lazy left field singles with no power…have him ONLY do this the rest of Spring…even if they arent shifting…every AB in practice and games and pinch hitting…every single time…

let him succeed at SOMETHING…perhaps his confidence will grow and the other things will come..

what they have been doing the last 2 years is not working..period…change it entirely…fo the “dumb” thing for a while… he is a 20million dollar waste of space at this point….

Any other player would not even be talked about if they hit this bad…they’d have been released…sent to minors camp…that is the level of play he is performing at…it is sad…he has to feel it and he knows his teammates know it…

either drastically change something or release him and protect a guy or clear a place for a guy to be added that can help…if he goes somewhere else and figures it out while we pay him….good for him…but no one would complain about a sunk cost after his play this spring and last year…the money is gone…

    I like the lineup …

Though i think a revolving door at RF/CF of Bader, Williams/Dean, Thomas is to be expected at this point

None of them have made a strong enough case to own it

The perfect lineup as long as Bader and Carpenter never get a start and both are gone very soon. Platoon Thomas and Williams with Dean and Nogowski on the bench.

I’m about sick of seeing that pitching matchup. So ready for the regular season.

In this game, Waino looking solid. Other than a solo homer by Schwarber, he’s been vintage Waino. 1-1, top 6.

Nogowski now in left field (7th inning). A bit of a surprise based on Shildt’s prior comments.

If Nogowski could play OF at all he would be almost a lock to make the team.

Shildt knows he has an OF problem outside of Carlson and O’Neill. Especially with Thomas and Bader. He’s trying to figure out how to solve it. Find a way to take both Dean and Nogowski north. Brian didn’t care for my Dean starting in LF thought, but it’s becoming more of a possibility everyday.

I can see carrying 13 pitchers, as they won’t need a starter for 2 to 3 weeks. Kim and Mikolas go to DL. Pdl, Oviado, or Woodford being the long reliever.

Then the choice would be to cut Carpenter, and keep Nogowski, Rondon, and Sosa. Williams can sting the ball and be a valuable LH hitter off the bench in place of Carp. Or these injuries might buy time, and they send Rondon down. Not fair, but likely that would only be temporary.

This team kissing a lot of sisters this year

Must be dry um FL this year. Have we been rained out or even delayed this year?
