Kelly hasn’t been good for about a year but here’s his chance to make an impression. Play good D and hit a little and he becomes a trade chip later.
These are the kind of games that can make the difference between a playoff team and one sitting at home for October. Nice to get the victory. Hope they can hit Lester tomorrow night.

Cubs are crushing Norris. Not one of the balls in play have been of the soft hit variety. Tying run now on first, one out.
Gregerson navigated Contreras and Schwarber to maintain the shutout. Good work there.

Really didn’t look good for Leone on all those replays. Hopefully not terribly serious but that’s the type of thing that usually means elbow surgery.
Gregerson isn’t the guy you’d want normally but probably only in for one batter.
Another chance for the bullpen to ruin a guy’s ERA. Why can’t it just be a nice boring finish to the game? Heh
Apparently Mikolas is getting a shot to go back out for the 8th. Seems risky but somehow less so than trusting Gregerson or Lyons.
Great effort tonight from Mikolas. Not sure if that’s it for him but if it is, that’s exactly what we needed. Going to be up to the bullpen to hold it whenever they’re called upon.
As much as the Cards have basically controlled this game… it’s one slap single from a one run game and a bomb away from tied.
Lots of base runners for the Cards but only the blast by Pham to bolster the scoreboard. Hope Mikolas can keep cruising.
